- HOW TO CRY ON CUE | ACTING TIPS WITH ELIANA GHEN
Acting Tip: HOW TO START TO PRODUCE TEARS: It's not about the tears, but about what's happening in the scene.
I have been acting for over 12 years, and in this video I explain how I relax to begin to start producing tears when I am going into a scene.

How did it go?
Me three
There's always moments in my life when I get so stressed, aggrieved and feel like I want a relief of my emotions loudly yet but secretly, there's that old picture of me and my passed away dad smiling together.
That picture is an instant kryptonite to my mental and it can make me tear in mere seconds.
I can't cry on cue, not like they do in movies anyway. I can force myself to cry properly, like how you do when you're really sad.

Hi
@OcHaCo UrArAka urarakaaa
@Ennard wdym
Listen to sad music before. If you’re performing in a movie try to understand why the character is sad and create a sad backstory in ur head. And yes most times actors do cry on cue
Wow. I already can cry if I want to, but it takes longer and if I were in a roll I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on both the scene and the things that keep my crying. But this ... the tears came and it felt natural too, like when you feel tears in your throat, before the tears were even out. Thank u so much❣️💙
I just have to think of something sad that happened in my life to cry
SAME..AND THAT cat is Adorbssss!
Same
Always
@@AshriyaJaveed Awh! I remember what you're talking about.
I sound like an old grandma telling this same story each time but that cat came to my house everyday for like 1-2 years. Then him and his owners moved away and I haven't seen him for 3 years. 😔
Same- or like, the things I love got taken away but it always take so longgggggg-
When it said look at something and the room it made me sneeze instead of crying.LOL🤣
it made me yawn
@@ENowak99 Same like my eyes are so dead (THEY CAN BARELY EVEN CRY ANYMORE LIKE WTF)
@@ENowak99that comment made me yawn
Right now I’m like wow she can do it all when it comes to acting! Love you!
I love this thank you!!!
So glad!
@@ElianaGhenfor me to cry on cue is to remember the day my mom told me my dad died I was only 8
For some reasons I can cry anytime anywhere without doing anything. *I scrolled down your whole short section to see your first short🙃
omg thank u so much this really helped for my auditions in the mms for the lead role and i GOT ITTT TYSM UR AMAZING!!!
i couldnt do this without ur help...may god bless u an amazing life ahead:)

It worked! Many times before I tried this but my eres only got watery, now it actually worked!!!! The tears came out of my eyes automatically, thanks Eliana!
I just have so much pent up right now, but no matter how hard I try I can’t cry for some reason. I just want to release these emotions. Thank you, I will keep trying this
How to cry on cue:
Think of your past :)
*_bursts into tears_*
Yeah.
My past is my present...😢😢
@@queenbee5769 My present is much worse than my past.
I saw this and I didn't realise it was her first ever yt short untill I just scrolled down
It worked
@@Gloriamindieta what worked?
I just think about someone I love dying and how deeply destroyed I’d be. Sometimes I think the worst and I always think to myself “what if he gets into a car accident and passes away? How would I cope?” Then I’ll make myself cry and I know it’s ridiculous. But life is fragile and my husband I love so so much. I don’t even think I could do life without him. I’d spiral into a deep depression that I feel couldn’t be healed. Once we broke up for a whole year and I was so depressed and broken , ugh, it was honestly the most painful heartbreak I’ve ever felt. I never want to feel that ever again
Idk but im good acting smh and whenever im doing a role I feel the character and it just starts tearing me up thanks for the good tho for anyone who needs it I mostly just relax and think abt every problem I have like anxiety left out and stuff like that produces natural tear
❤ Thankyou thankyou thankyou ❤
I wanted to learn this from a long time but never found the right method... Girl, u helped me so much...
I walked away from a possible acting career years ago as the affectation, sexism, fakery, vanity and elitism wasn't something I wanted a part of. However, I remember I was able to cry on the spot through sense memory. I agree with the relaxation part but disagree with thinking of the character's emotion because, essentially, it's your emotion. No matter what character you're portraying it's always you. You are opening yourself up with every gram of vulnerability. So, you have to trust yourself and let go without thinking about anything else save for that moment ... before it becomes a memory
MASSIVE DISCLAIMER!!!
Fellow actor here! Just graduated from drama and film school. I studied a lot of technique and I think it’s needs to be said that this ISNT THE ONLY WAY TO CRY. Every actor has their own process that works for them. Some actors can cry on cue and some cannot. HOWEVER, just because you can or can’t cry on cue doesn’t make you and better or worse actor. This is HER WAY of crying on cue. Also, regardless of what the script says in regards to crying, your goal should never be to cry. Many people have said this but it is more truthful and believable to try not to cry then to let everything out. The restraint and the reason to hold that restraint is in my opinion a lot more interesting then seeing an actor try to cry on command. Going for the TRUTH of the scene is much more interesting then the result (crying just to cry). Break all the legs everyone! 😌✌🏽
Just think of all the mistakes, regrets, and all the people that you loved that didn't truly love you back. I dont go to therapy, so it's all locked away for when I need it.
Back in drama I was taught about a concept called emotional and sensory memory where you use your own personal memories to show more authentic emotions and the trick in this vid is actually helpful to allow the tears to flow within seconds.
Thanks so much.
I scrolled all the way down to find her first shorts yaaay!!!
I've been naturally able to do this for so long it's weird to hear someone explain the steps
Another strategy I find easy is to think of someone you love like a best friend, pet or loved one, and imagine if something were to happen to them. Idk if it will work for others, but it works for me :)
I thought of my grandma and my kitten that was special to me and when my dad played with me when I was younger…my grandma had heart problems and my cat loved me as much as I did her and she was given away Then my mom told the lady to always tell my mom when she was going to give her away if she did, the lady gave her away and there’s no telling where she is in the world if she even is…and my dad used to be younger and now he works 24/7 and I get to see him about 10 minutes in a day… 🥺always love your family
THANK SO SO MUCH! it used to take me about 5 minutes to cry on cue😂 but now i can produce atleast 5 tears in 4 seconds❤
I tried this and I actually started crying! It kinda depends on what your crying about though. But really helped! 👍
This is what I always do when I'm tired, exhausted, frustrated, ignored, angry or when I'm missing someone. Btw, your acting is amazing!
As a fellow actress, former anyway- I think it’s much more powerful to tell an actor to work on their personal emotional intelligence and intimacy. Everyone can empathize with someone who’s had their heart broken, or was counting on someone who let them down- or to shift emotions- to go from sad/crying to happy on camera- just imagine you’re watching an old tape of a friend you loved dearly and freshly lost, and the footage still makes you laugh just like it would if they were watching it with you, but then sets in the reality that you’ll never see them again- from there, I find emotion way to access if I need the character to cry.
Focusing on the wall with my eyes open doesn’t allow me all of that depth, but letting my emotions flow immediately into that place of despair of knowing I’ll never have this with my best friend again- there’s no reaching for emotions, it’s about fighting them at that point. But that’s just my method.
Oh my god you're/ were an actress...I also wants to be an actor cuz I love acting if you don't mind can you help me in acting...maybe if you're comfortable
For what I do to cry on cue: I think of something that makes me sob or cry non-stop. If that doesn't work I open my mouth and then start talking sadly and madly and it works. Thats what I do, The tip Eliana gave works but it takes a while for me
I tried this to someone not do the steps but make it like a switch
Crying on cue made it a lot more easy
Thank u
I used to do this in 10'th garde back then i had no interest in acting but i somehow knew this trick , now i am 12th with the goal of becoming a actor,so i cry every day using this method.
Who just came all the way down to see her first video!
Me
GOSH... I randomly found this and tried, And I DID IT!!??
This is good for getting emotional but not for bawling
all i think abt for my tears to come out is how my first and last boyfriend posted another girl on his story and to get me off of that conversation he said "i love you" and he didn't mean it.... i liked him since the 4th grade and loved him ever since the 6th grade and i'm now going to 9th. also when i said "i love you more" i actually meant that. (i just had to get that out because it has been torturing me for a long time.) he still has my heart and doesn't know it.
I started tearing at the moment i opened this short before even watching
remember to focus on ur breathing. crying requires breathing, and it is important that you do it well
Am I the only one who came back to see her first video?😅
😂
No me tooo
Me to😅😅
Okay I know this sounds super weird but I find it useful to make myself get cold chills and that helps a lot
I’ve been able to do this since I was 5, it’s easy once you get the hang of it and to anyone struggling for the tears to pour and there just staying in your eyes, wipe your eyes but make it seem like your still sad a lot of people wipe there eyes when there crying
Theres one thing I can think of that will make me cry in an instant but it hurts too much to think about
Imma just here crying by my parents starting at me-
Totally not acting
Seriously 😐

I didnt even try and ran a river down my eyes
This is how I self thought myself! I want to be an actor when I grow up ❤
Her hair looks FAB
I’m in middle school theater 🎭 and I can’t cry 😭 on cue but when I tried this and started balling thank you so much ❤
I just remind myself that I’m all alone and I have deep dark emotions that I have to keep all to myself because no
One will understand or listen to me but after a while of this I just learned to cry
I cry on cue without looking at a certain object, the key is to really think about your characters situation, imagining the pain they go through and how tired they are, I feel so much pity that I start to cry straight up
This didn't work for me but during a staring contest or something my eyes start watering so that's what I do if I wanna cry on cue, lol.
here from your recent tiktok livestream :)
Alain Deen Films yay!! Thanks Alain!
Eliana Ghen btw if you were wondering how to pronounce my name, i said it in like the first few seconds of my first video :)
Alain Deen Films ok I am going to try to listen again
If you can’t think of anything sad just remember

True legends will cry
It helps to also envision yourself cyring and blink a lot for me!
This worked!? I cried! I cried a lot!! Sorry I tried looking at something sad😳I looked at a painting from my room that my great grandma made🥹
I had tears, and started to cry like i cry when someone sad happens
I got one tear out of my eyes 😃i always liked acting and everything and singing and i have teachers actress who is teaching me of that(i live in Hungary) so im sooo happy form my parents to pay for it🙏
I really recommend looking at a family picture or something really important to you and remember the mistakes and horrible things you said or did to them.
I just started laughing..
LOLLLL
Omg this was ur first vid u posted on UA-cam!! I live how much u have grown as actress since then!!!
So this is where the legend started
I tried this because I’m terrible at crying in command and it actually worked and I started laughing because it shocked me 😂😂
Another way: think of something rlly sad that makes you cry
This is the 🔑 real acting when show that you’re emotional ❤
In my country there's only 2 ways to cry
1.think of an emotional events that happened in your life
2.if you really can't cry. put yourself in to the scenario that you're ask to act on mirror yourself like your the character and think it's really happening to you in the reality
I worked! I kept doing it exhaling more everyone and then tears started bursting out.
Tip: doing this in front of a mirror really helps! Especially if you have sympathy, idk if it’s just me but bc I look sad it feels like I have to cry and doing this. Ik I didn’t explain anything btu just try in front of a mirror
It Actually Worked!! Just Watery Eyes Even Though I Didn't Heavy Breathe
Another way,
If very sensitive would not recommend! :)
I think of my dog dying or my family dying and it makes me whimper and cry
I have never been Abel to fake cry this good yet.
I’m actually really good at crying on queue when I show people they ask if I’m ok because it is so hard for them and it’s cool to know it takes relaxation cuz I don’t really focus on it
I didn’t realise this was a year old lol
This is a pretty good tip if you can cry whenever just not the second you want. So for me this helps a lot thank you
POV:you looked for elianas first vid
Omg is this elianas very first vid😭its still so beautiful ❤❤
love from-2023
Ive only been doing this for 1 min and im already got 1 tear, tysm❤
Omg I've never been able to fake cry before thank you
As an actor myself, I believe it’s all in the mindset. I wouldn’t think of it as fake crying. Allow yourself to experience what the character is feeling and really cry. How long have you been acting?
@@AaronRaglandTV I've been acting stage for 3 years and film for 7 months. The reason id describe it as fake crying is because as a person I have difficulty actually showing emotions and letting myself cry. Your advice is really helpful though. How long have you been acting?
@@Rivers...1234 That's cool that you've been onstage for 3 years and have been doing film for 7 months. I've been acting for around 14-16 years. Mainly, my passion and experience is onstage, but I'm also into film too. You like TV/Film or Theatre more?
A tip, use a song that's really sad do the steps again it works for me everytime
How I do it, is if I'm acting a peice and need to cry or think it would be better, I basically try and think in the mindset of that person I'm acting as, like if their about to be killed then, I think how it would be like, I also use past emotions I have felt, like if I was sad that day I use them emotions and things to make me cry, but I don't get too into it, if I think too much about it, I will start crying for real. But acting is very fast and in the moment, your only goal is to cry and think about your emotions, this can take practice if your not an emotional person. But anyone can do it with practice. You can also do this but it might not make you cry and my method might not make you cry like tears, so keep practicing x ❤
This is where the queen started
this is where the legend was born.
I have been practicing for the past few weeks and now I finally have it!!! Now when I go to do acting practice I can do it pretty easily!!! TYSM for the tips!!!
It’s easy for me. Personally I just think about things that make me sad and I just start crying.
I literally cried at my blanket hoodie and im so supriesed it worked like ive never been able to do it❤❤❤
I didnt even realise I started crying until a tear dropped off my face 😂
Lmao idk if how I do it is good for you or not but I find it works really well. Like what she said I focus on what is making my character cry and hold on the those emotions but how I get a lot of tears flowing, I go to point where it’s like I’m about to yawn but I don’t, because when you yawn you get tears in your eyes and I find if I just go to that one point that isn’t quite a yawn but still get tears going I can cry pretty much in a few seconds- I must admit I don’t look very attractive while doing so but it kinda just adds to the crying look. Over time I’ve gotten better and can change my expression a bit more. It’s also just all practice :))
Aaa it worked for me!! I did my kitten. Aay can u do more episodes about how to find ur soulmate?? Its rlly cool too watch
I learnt how to do this on my own and i use it sometimes and i actually wanted to see how other people do it and i came across your video and it's the same method as mine
Cries at that one bubble maker i loved when i was a kid
I didn’t produce any tears but it made my eyes really really watery
Everyone ating in theater: a calm and relaxed state?!!
an actress is my dream job and for like 1 year ive been able to cry on comand
Ok if you're acting in a movie you cant rlly do this, but sometimes it helps to yawn a bunch of times, makes your eyes watery
YO I CRIED I SWEAR MY SISTER JUMPED UP AND SAID "are you ok?!" AND NOW I CAN DO IT ON CUE ALL THE TIME
Thank you! Finally a novel trick. I see the same ones that dont work for me everywhere
Thanks, I Want to become an actress but I Can't cry, thanks Eliana. I Love you hugs from Spain :)
i’m very emotional, i don’t wanna ruin my makeup though. this will definitely help for my perspective. thankyou!😊😊😊😊😮
You’ve grown so much and you are very good at acting!
It..works thats amazing a cool little trick if your having trouble crying in a scene
