People don’t sleep directly on the mattress! So, how does something go through the bedsheets which a person sleeps on? There’s no hole in the bedsheet. Yes, wash the bedsheets regularly! But vacuum the mattress??? For whatttt? There’s a sheet covering it!
@eurekacomment5719 Of course, but you were talking about sheets that don't allow dust mites, dander, and other contaminants. You think cotton sheets are going to stop those?
In addition to vacuum and mattress protection I use every day a blue light uv Ray lamp on the open sheets that help kill the mites or at least fk up their reproduction skills.
So basically this is why you use a mattress cover that has a waterproof/bedbug proof liner. If water and bedbugs aren’t getting through the plastic and zipper neither is dust, skin cells or mite poops. Just toss in the wash once a week with the bedding and problem solved. The fact that not everyone uses mattress protectors at this point is just sooooo gross to me.
I am heavily asthmatic. I have never hoovered my bed. I'm usually fine, I have fewer asthma attacks in bed than anywhere else. I'm...not going to hoover these critters away.

We have a vinyl mattress protector with zipper, a slightly larger size so it doesn’t tear easily. On top of that is the cushioned mattress protector and sheets. Since adding the vinyl protector, we’ve had less allergic reactions- both asthma and dermal
Funny thing, I was just diagnosed with dust mite allergy. I don't know how I lived my life not knowing I had an allergy, nevermind having an allergic reaction, but since moving to Germany 4 months ago, I've been having rash breakouts 3 times a day consistently.
Truth. I rear mites for medical applications and trust me, those little bastards are tough. You will not kill them by merely opening the windows for a couple of minutes.
When I bought my matress a few years ago, I bought a cooling waterproof matress cover to protect the matress from sweat, and I liked the cooling feel of the cover (a cover was also required if I decided I didnt like the matress and wanted to return it, but I liked both the matress and cover lol). This makes that purchase feel all the more worth it lol.
Ups. I don't use a mattress protector (let alone a vacuum) on my mattress and I wash my sheets maybe ....every 6 weeks in winter. I figured, that since I'm wearing long, thick night clothes, the sheets and such do not really get dirty, as there is no skin contact (I do wash my pillowcase weekly). Never considered dust mites. Do I have to change, if it causes me no issues? Or is it just not an issue, if you're not allergic to them?
I wouldn't say you "have" to do anything. But it would probably be a good idea to try it out and then decide whether you notice enough of a difference to justify changing your habits long term
Currently in a bed that was last vacuumed and aired out over 10 years ago. Before that my parents had it for probably close to 15 years. Not sure how often they vacumed it. At least I'm sleeping in an vintage bed with freshly changed bedding.
My Purple mattress cover completely covers my bed. I have never vacuumed my Purple mattress and I've had it 8 years. I just vacuumed it after seeing this video and there was barely anything in the canister when I was done, just the slightest hint of dust.
@@breathlesshasteand that was probably not even from the mattress, but only from the bit of leftover dust that clings to the inside of the vacuum attachment.
As someone with allergies to dust mites and their dander, I needed to get a mattress cover.. It really helps. Washing sheets often is also important, but another factor is making sure it's washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer.
SubhanAllah, we have the best religion indeed. The hadith: Al-Bukhaari (6320) and Muslim (2714) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after he left it. Then let him say: Bismika Rabbee wada’tu janbi wa bika arfa’uhu wa in amsakta nafsi farhamhaa wa in arsaltahaa fahfazhaa bimaa tuhfaz bihi ‘ibaadika al-saaliheen ( In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name I rise. If You should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).” So it's a sunnah to dust off the bed😊
Watching this as a Muslim, it's fascinating how our Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us even the simple act of 'shaking-off' the bedsheets every night before sleeping! Alhamdulillah for his timeless wisdom and guidance in every aspect of our lives.
Also wash your pillowcases or change them 3 times a week, wash your pillows once a week. We drool, snore, leak boogers, ear wax, and hair oil all over them. This can contribute to breakouts. We fart and leak fluids in those sheets too. So if you are itchy, get sick often, don't sleep well.....clean your bed.
I've ALWAYS changed/ washed my sheets every wk. Every Sat morning! I have a mattress pad/ cover. I don't wash that every time, but I guess I should do it much more often! My comforter gets washed every to every other wk as well. Its just me, so not bad at all.
Every 2 months I turn my mattress upside down .... rub it in with baking soda ... wait 2 hrs ... then vacuum it (I have a different vacuum brush only for mattresses). Doesn't everybody?? I never use mattress protectors ... they are always of synthetic material. This means that the mattress cannot breathe and I sweat a lot. The encasings go to dry cleaning once every year.
If you have been married for a while you will understand where the pastor is coming from. Not everything is written explicitly in scripture: for example The Bible doesn’t state that women should cook and nurture the children and men should pay bills. But every married woman will tell you that if the burden lies on them to provide financially for their household it is a very uncomfortable burden and puts a huge strain on the marriage. Every woman wants to nurture. It’s natural. Every true man wants to provide. God put that in their nature. And that is what this pastor is talking about. Unless you’re that man who would want your wife to be providing for the house while you idle about you would not understand where he’s coming from. The Bible doesn’t expressly tell us when or how many times a woman should cook, or feed her baby, but nature has placed it in her bosom and she ‘knows’ when to feed her child. Likewise, if you’ve not married before you won’t understand or agree and that’s ok, but he already stated and emphasized that ‘this is not theory’ but from his own experiences as a counselor and a married man. If you like agree, if you like don’t. But what he said here is a fact. Men are wired that way by nature. Even women prefer it that way. Women feel comfort and security if their man has the capacity to provide and leads in providing. When it’s the other way around it’s just stress.
So, we're now supposed to buy a new vacuum for our bedsheets? 'Coz ain't no way I'm using the floor vacuum on my bed. This just seems a bit extravagant to me. Just do your laundry, and you'll be fine.
This is also why I use allergy mattress protectors and pillow covers. I still vacuum my mattress and wash my pillows just not as often because of the protectors/covers.

I don't have breathing problems. Never vacuumed a mattress in 35 years. This is something that can for sure help if you are sensitive. But if you just sleep in your bed, clean your sheets semi regularly and at most have a cat hang out on your bed. (Me) please don't feel shame for not vacuuming your mattress. And remember that people in certain countries can drink the water that would give other people deathly diarrhea.
I vacuumed my mattress with my dyson and nothing came off. Its only 2 years and i have slept on the bare mattress on more than one occasion when I’m in the middle of doing laundry. I usually have a cover that i only wash when its obviously needed. And my sheets get changed like one a month id say. No problems here.
When I was having sinus issues and docs suspected asthma, I did a wipe down, vacuum, and mop of the bedroom, then baking soda on the mattress for a few hours and vacuumed it up. Fragrance free detergent was used on the new sheets I put on. Fresh pillowcase twice a week. Unfortunately no difference for me over a couple weeks (turns out no asthma), but I hope you find something that improves yours! Spring is coming right up too, so you may have to try anything new for a while to rule out any confounding factors. It sucks and is exhausting, I'm sorry.

Not only your bedsheets but also your pillow cases. I was my pillowcases about every 5-7 days especially if i don't wash my hair that often in the winter
Our prophet mohammad (pbuh) used to clean his bed before going to sleep every night. He knew all of it 1400 years ago.
1400 years ago in dusty saudi arabia where people slept on the floor...it was normal to shake out bed sheets to clear off sands and any other possible scorpions or spiders...
absolutly Nothing religious or holy about prophet Mohamads actions...everyone did it,
it was normal behaviour
His ‘bed’ was a mat on the floor, not a modern day mattress.
My mattress is about 10rs old and ive never vacuumed it. I've been on the fence about replacing it but there is nothing wrong with it. This video just convinced me.
People don’t sleep directly on the mattress! So, how does something go through the bedsheets which a person sleeps on? There’s no hole in the bedsheet. Yes, wash the bedsheets regularly! But vacuum the mattress??? For whatttt? There’s a sheet covering it!
@@eurekacomment5719I'm wondering how comfortable it is for you, sleeping on plastic sheets.
@@jamesmcinnis208 plastic sheeeeetsss? There are sheets made of cotton and other soft cloth! You don’t know???
@eurekacomment5719 Of course, but you were talking about sheets that don't allow dust mites, dander, and other contaminants. You think cotton sheets are going to stop those?
@@jamesmcinnis208 but you can just stack sheets????

"Every night you share your bed with a few million dust mites"

In addition to vacuum and mattress protection I use every day a blue light uv Ray lamp on the open sheets that help kill the mites or at least fk up their reproduction skills.
How long do you shine the light for?
@@thathandsomedevil0828 The uv lamp I have has a timer 15mins or 30mins option.
Fat people sweat so much, my mother is using towels in addition to everything else for her partner, as he is like a monster for the poor bed.
I am heavily asthmatic. I have never hoovered my bed. I'm usually fine, I have fewer asthma attacks in bed than anywhere else. I'm...not going to hoover these critters away.
But.. I will need an extra vacuum nozzle, won't I? Who puts the one they're vacuuming their floor with on the thing they're sleeping on? Am I just paranoid? 😂
If you don‘t have allergies already then you shoudn‘t do that. Because a too clean Environment does not teach your body how to cope with enviroment!❤
how about doing it
but spending more time in nature (touch grass)
So, let it build up until it triggers an allergy. Got it. Really, really smart.
So let's stop washing our hands after we poop and strengthen our immune systems.
@@yourfuturewaifu9061 What an enchanting thought.
We have a vinyl mattress protector with zipper, a slightly larger size so it doesn’t tear easily. On top of that is the cushioned mattress protector and sheets. Since adding the vinyl protector, we’ve had less allergic reactions- both asthma and dermal
Hmmm definitely gonna get a mattress protector then
Then they live on that. You can't get rid of them, just like can't get rid of the aliens living in the pores of your face.
mattress protector is a good investment 👍
Funny thing, I was just diagnosed with dust mite allergy. I don't know how I lived my life not knowing I had an allergy, nevermind having an allergic reaction, but since moving to Germany 4 months ago, I've been having rash breakouts 3 times a day consistently.
I have a waterproof, zippered, bag that goes over my mattress because i travel a lot and I'm terrified of bed bugs.
Do you find yourself sweating a lot because of it, or not really? I'm considering getting one now
Is it waterproof to wash it every day?
Great video to watch as you are trying to fall asleep on your never hoovered before mattress
I changed my sheets once last summer but I showered every night😅
Truth. I rear mites for medical applications and trust me, those little bastards are tough. You will not kill them by merely opening the windows for a couple of minutes.
Yeah, I live on my bed so I never have time to wash the sheets. Where would I lie down while the sheets are washing, huh?
You're never alone at night 😮
That's creepy 😂😂😂😂😂
What if your mattress protector is plastic and encases the entire bed?
Pro tip leave baking soda half hour before vacuuming👍🏼
No. It ruins your vacuum.
Good idea.
@powerpuff_avenger
? How is baking soda different than the carpet powder?
@@powerpuff_avenger
It does not!!
@@powerpuff_avenger Not true. Just clean the filters.
SubhanAllah, we have the best religion indeed. The hadith:
Al-Bukhaari (6320) and Muslim (2714) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after he left it. If You should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).”
So it's a sunnah to dust off the bed😊
Watching this as a Muslim, it's fascinating how our Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us even the simple act of 'shaking-off' the bedsheets every night before sleeping! Alhamdulillah for his timeless wisdom and guidance in every aspect of our lives.
'Dusting the bed' to be precise
That is grandma for the rest of us.
Shaking your bedsheets is not the same as vacuuming your mattress. 🙄
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou ofcourse, I'm talking about the advice given to Muslims 1445 years ago!!!
@@green_age7 Muhammad didn't foresee vacuums, huh?
Replacing my mattress with a solid slab of brass
Also wash your pillowcases or change them 3 times a week, wash your pillows once a week. We drool, snore, leak boogers, ear wax, and hair oil all over them. This can contribute to breakouts. We fart and leak fluids in those sheets too. So if you are itchy, get sick often, don't sleep well.....clean your bed.
For anyone having a hard time doing their pillowcases as often as they'd like: multiple pillows, flip over after 1-3 days' use. Ta-da!
Summary: not many will last if/when shtf
At this point I'm better off sleeping in a hazmat suit...
I use a waterproof mattress cover. I also vacuum my mattress. My 10th grade biology teacher told us this, and I've been freaked out ever since. 😂
Prophet Muhammad (P.U.B.H) dusted his bed before sleeping 1400 years ago
This is also why I use allergy mattress protectors and pillow covers. I still vacuum my mattress and wash my pillows just not as often because of the protectors/covers.
People don’t sleep directly on the mattress! So, how does something go through the bedsheets which a person sleeps on? There’s no hole in the bedsheet. Yes, wash the bedsheets regularly! But vacuum the mattress??? For whatttt? There’s a sheet covering it!
I vacuum my mattress when I change my bed sheets - usually a quarterly event. But I don't get anything in the filters (just a few hair strains)...
this was what was triggering my skin asthma before but i could not change bed sheets every day or regularly, but my skin would flake off a lot every day. in the end, immunotherapy would strengthen my body without needing to deal with that.
Most of that is lint from broken fibers

Yea i never vaccuumed my bed ever. But maybe i should?
I didn't know this😢. And i have asthma sometimes it feels like im suffocating and i wake up. Vacuum time
When I was having sinus issues and docs suspected asthma, I did a wipe down, vacuum, and mop of the bedroom, then baking soda on the mattress for a few hours and vacuumed it up.
