- Rhiannon Giddens, a Year One Composer for Kronos' Fifty for the Future, discusses her musical background, her composition process, the piece she wrote for Fifty for the Future, and more.
As a poet, I feel the rhythm of the earth in what she writes and the soul of everything in what she sings. The earth moves through her and brings us all to together. Knowing all is one.
Rhiannon Giddens has so much to offer. I can't wait for whatever she does next! Her work on Folk Songs is so deeply moving.
Just watched a few videos of this lady. She is a genius with a beautiful voice.
Rhiannon, I/we really want you to keep doing this! There is so much life in it. That music is SO important! You are making contact with our spiritual beginning. You are discovering the people who built this nation. Their stories need to be told, and felt.
My favorite was Loreena McKennitt for many years; now it's Rhiannon Giddens. She has talent, drive, a quick mind, a gentle soul and a great perspective. And, yes, she is quite unique.
It's so interesting how, no matter which video of her you watch, comments like these follow. She is marvelously talented and wholly unique, "because of the intersections I represent in my artistic being."
She's cool as heck
You are an interesting person. You sing like an angel and are very beautiful. I do have a crush:)
You and about a million of us -- men and women, I'm sure.
