I would argue women chess is more entertaining because it's more chaotic. Pieces are thrown here and there. It might not be the sharpest or the strongest lines as Magnus or Hikaru or other top male players but they're entertaining nonetheless.
15:48 these are the moves that distinguish you, the IM, from the rest of the casual chess players. Normal chess players wouldn't even see that the rook could move like a big knight
Quick intermission to mention that Ramazan Zhalmakhanov, the IM who got super impressive results at the 2023 Grand Swiss and Sardinia, recently got his GM title🎉 Levy made a video or two about him back then too!
Levy's upload schedule is impressive for such a big channel. We can see all the UA-camrs spend months working on dumb content, but he is actually inspirational, instructive, and fun (in a weird way) tbh. I've enjoyed watching you for 2 years now. watching your videos alone I got up to 1100 (now 1803)
I was at Barnes an noble and I saw you’re book so I picked it up and I’ve been liking it so far. I’m pretty bad at chess and I find that reading instead of watching videos is much better. I think watching videos for the sake of trying to pick up new strategies is hard because of information overload. I’m glad you made your book easily digestible while not only covering “bishop moves diagonal” or something else extremely basic which I find in a few other beginner tutorials or chess videos. The book is great as a first strategy book for people getting into chess and not knowing where to begin I definitely recommend. Thanks!!! Maybe I’ll have a chance to get it signed one day.
Thank you gothamchess for helping me progress through my chess journey. I started playing when I was 3 years old and by 6 I was pretty good at chess. Then, chess became boring to me and then I started to give up chess. Now im 13, and I have refound my passion of chess. You fueled that when I found you. Now I am on track to fulfilling my purpose of becoming exceptional at chess and I thank you for helping me.
God, Stavroula is such a beast on the board this is another best queen sacrifice game after the one she played against Natalayia, levy recapped that game as the best queen sacrifice, but after seeing this one, wow.. Just wow 😮 reminds me of Rashid nezhmetdinov
4:20 There's a concept in transportation called "travel time reliability" - basically, a metric to determine how often an estimate given is correct. It's quite hard to nail down, especially with constantly-changing traffic conditions, highway volumes, etc. You'll get the same thing with the "5 minutes to I-69" digital signs, and that's just a few minutes that's difficult to accurately predict
Levy, I think you significantly understated Aleksandra Goryachkina's strength/achievements. She's a full GM and in the top 10 women. She was the challenger in the 2020 Women's World Championship and came a hair's breadth from winning, finally losing by a single tie-break point. Since then she has qualified for every Candidates tournament, though she has yet to be the challenger a second time. I think all that background underlines just how cool Tsolakidou's play was in this game. Thanks for sharing it! 😆
I'm so proud to have found the final move almost instantly 17:22 ! Thanks Levy for helping me stepping up my game (forgot to mention that I'm a self taught noob) 😅
Wow what a game !! Game of the year contender for sure. Would love to see the actual game replay and the players reactions. More often than not its easier to play the side with the pieces vs the queen. Who hasn't lost a ton of games up a queen. You basically need a classical time control when you have the queen vs the pieces. Amazing chess thanks Levy ! PS If she keeps playing like that she might a get a GM next to her name soon.
2:55 The Sämisch variation. The double dots is called an umlaut. If we want to simplify it, all of the vowel sounds covered by an umlaut are 'pushed forward'. I.e the U in pull would become the U in cute. u = pull, ü = cute

2:58 Levy, the two little dots on top of a vowel is called in German an umlaut. It denotes that a vowel would otherwise have an e with it. Eg ä would be spelled like ae. (Käse -> Kaese). Hope that helps!
Hello Levy The two parallel dots above a letter in a word are called a "diaeresis" (also spelled "dieresis") or "umlaut," depending on their usage. Diaeresis: Used to indicate that a vowel should be pronounced separately from the adjacent vowel. For example, in the word "naïve," the diaeresis over the 'i' shows that it should be pronounced separately from the 'a'. Umlaut: Used in German and some other languages to indicate a change in the sound of the vowel. For example, in the German word "über," the umlaut over the 'u' changes its pronunciation. Both symbols look the same (¨), but their usage and linguistic function differ.
I know Levi joked about being too low ELO to known about transposition and the Sicilian; but I actually learned something from this. I knew about the Sicilian Dragon and transposition, but this is the first time I actually understood the King's Indian, without really doing a deep dive into the subject, since it's basically the Dragon without moving the Knight's pawn.

Mikhail tal would sacrifice his queen for quick tactics. That sacrifice was just brutal positional stuff.
