1:16 to 1:21. This also resolves common problems with getting a storage drive that you use as an external plug n play storage drive between Windows and a LInux distro not normally showing up/auto mounting in Linux too ( I keep those types of drives formatted to exFat for ultimate plug n play usage)

Two things I feel missing from this, a mention of a Windows 10 debloat script and (to a lesser extent) setting certain services to be automatic delayed. Other than that, the prime things to speed up Win 10 booting is to remove non essential programs from the startup and adding an SSD (those two things you do mention).

As things look right now, there is absolutely no fix for Win10 slow boot. Many say that the only thing that works is to throw out your HDD hard disk and get an SSD. However, in the meantime, many people with SSD also get that problem. After hundreds of MS updates, every computer/laptop is brought to its knees. So it seems only a fresh install with the latest Win10 version produces relief.

I'm the laziest Windows user possible. I've literally done in-place upgrade with my current desktop since Windows 8.0 . Amazingly it hasn't slowed down much if at all over the years. That might be partially because I've also just been cloning my C drive when it gets full, I started with a 256GB SSD and now I'm on a 1 TB drive. The larger drives always benchmark much faster than the smaller sizes. I use Macrium Reflect usually but I've also used the Samsung cloning utility which is also effective and free. I feel like I should update but my old Intel 3820 i7 still runs fine albeit a bit loud. Is it worth upgrading? Light gaming and photo editing works fine. Besides I have a lifetime licence to Malwarebytes which is no long available, and obviously I'm cheap. I also use Sysinternals Autoruns to edit my startup programs.

Thanks for this tipps! But on my system the biggest "slow boot" problem are the hard drives. Windows is running on a SSD but all the rest of data is on regular hard drives via SATA III. If I unplug all the hard drives except the Windows SSD, the boot time is about 20-30 sec but with the hard drives its about 2-3 minutes. Do you know a setting which boot the hard drives right after the start from Windows?
    Thanks for your help!

As an old timer, I just have my LENOVO ThinkCentre M58 desktop PC, which is 13 years old now. It takes 32 seconds to reach the windows 10 Pro 20H2 password entry point after power up, and 5 seconds to power down. But this antique can still run UA-cam videos at 1080p 60 fps without any frame loss. Is that any good for a 13 year old cheap computer ?

Good ole Windows 10 has taken away my ability to change the advanced settings for these options. it says "Some settings are managed by your system administrator" but I'm the only account on the PC and I'm the administrator. :( Nothing I do fixes this issue. Not a clean wipe and re-install, not third party programs, not scripts, it's like Microsoft knows what they are doing to their customers and what their customers are doing to stop them, and then with every new update, they take away more and more of a users privileges.

Thanks for the video but it doesn't help my case. I use a 970 EVO Plus 500GB nvme. Everything was fine, used to boot in a couple of seconds. I could barely see the windows logo, but suddenly it started taking 25-30 seconds after bios loading (windows loads for 25-30 sec). Everything else is fine, all mechanical drives at 100% health and working as intended, even the nvme ssd is as responsive as before. Just the boot is taking very long. Any ideas to resolve this hideous issue? Thanks.

Virtual Memory just helps you run multiple apps at once. The more memory you have, the more apps it can run at once. If you add any more VM, it won't do anything. My virtual memory is 32GB.

That does not make sense. I have a 13 year old LENOVO ThinkCentre M58 desktop PC, and it boots up in 32 seconds, and shuts down in 5 seconds. It has an antique Q9500 QUAD INTEL processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. I am currently using the "Windows 10 Pro version 20H2" operating system. But let it be noted, that all h e l l was happening in timing when I still was using an HDD instead of an SSD. You might also want to down load a free version of CCLEANER and check for any "Registry" problems, and of course perform the usual "Custom Cleaning".

@@supreetsingh3347 Well look at it this way. Just for you I removed one of the two 4GB memory strips, and thus I was now running on 4GB RAM only. Here are the bootup and shut down results. 34 seconds bootup, and 4 seconds power down. Only minor changes overall. On my LENOVO, running at 8GB was virtually the same as with 4GB, when dealing with bootup and shut down timings.

i really don't think that in 2019 and the coming 2020, that we need to be going through all these advanced steps just to get modern computers working efficiently, i could understand an older system, that needs that extra boost, but in reality in most new computers if you have an ssd or even a mechanical drive. usually all you would need to do is make sure its connected to the motherboard properly and that it has power, and when you install windows 10 or if it was purchased with your computer as a prebuilt, it will be just fine, i find that what might slow down a machine the most are those startup items in task manager, that's the first place i check.
