  • Overview from Noel:
Sleep apnea is known as the silent killer that can have some serious health implications! Please get checked out if you have any of the symptoms in the video! Stay healthy out there bros. Much love!
    SEO description:
Are you struggling with chronic exhaustion? Join me as I share my personal journey of discovery and recovery from severe sleep apnea. I battled through five misdiagnoses before uncovering the true cause: obstructive sleep apnea. This condition, triggered by a severely deviated septum and excess weight, disrupted my sleep up to 50 times an hour, leading to profound sleep deprivation. Through candid reflection, I highlight the alarming symptoms and potential health risks associated with untreated sleep apnea, including heightened risks of heart attacks and strokes.
Discover the transformative impact of surgical intervention, which brought me significant relief and restored restful sleep. My journey serves as a vital reminder to prioritize your health and seek professional medical guidance if you resonate with these experiences. Join me on this journey of awareness, understanding, and reclaiming vitality. Don’t let sleep apnea go undetected-your health deserves attention.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS
    - The speaker suffered from extreme fatigue and depression due to sleep deprivation caused by undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnea.
    - This sleep disorder was primarily caused by a severely deviated septum, with the speaker's weight being a contributing factor.
    - A sleep study revealed that the speaker was stopping breathing 30-50 times per hour, preventing him from entering deep sleep and causing him to receive only about 30 minutes of restful sleep per night.
    - The speaker underwent surgery to fix his deviated septum, dramatically improving his sleep quality and overall health.
    - The speaker strongly recommends those experiencing symptoms like constant exhaustion, loud snoring, or waking up gasping for air to see a doctor or undergo a sleep study, as it may reveal a serious but treatable sleep disorder.

I haven't been sleeping well my entire life. I am pretty sure it is not sleep apnea. I just never fall asleep. Every little light, sound, feeling keeps me awake. I exercise every day, im 5 '11, 165 lbs. I started taking melatonin and that helps me fall asleep but i can only sleep if I have been awake for 18 hours, which means I can never get 8 hours of sleep. If I try to fall asleep early, i will simply lay awake the entire night until the birds start chirping. im desperate, pls help.

@@shinygoomy2460 Just because you are of normal BMI, doesn't mean you dont have sleep disordered breathing. A good percentage of asians have it because of crowded craniofacial structure. I'm not saying you have it...most likely you have insomnia. First thing is to determine what is the cause or type, most of the time if it is not anxiety or depression, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia is going to be the way to go. This can actually be done online through a therapist. Insomnia is very hard to get rid of in the long term and takes a great deal of dedication by the patient. There is no magic pill (unless there is something organic causing it). I'm sorry you are going through this! See a sleep medicine provider but hopefully they will refer you out for cognitivie behavioral therapy if they see fit. Obviously, I'm assuming you know all bout sleep hygiene so Im not going to bore you with that.

Severe Sleep Apnea diagnosed here. I would have events 40-50 times an hour, that’s nearly once every minute. I dealt with it for years, honestly way too long. I was woken up one night struggling to breathe and slightly blue in the lips after an intense afternoon workout. Sleep apnea is no joke and should be taken very serious, if you have symptoms go get tested, it is life changing. I had 6 years of this, had never heard of it so I didn't know what was going on. I had it pretty severe, when they wired me up i was stopping breathing between 50-60 times an hour, I almost gave up my drivers license, thought I had mild narcilepsy at first. I was ill all the time where my immune system had essentially stopped and my metabolism had slowed so I packed on around 10st in a short period of time with no change of diet or activity. It was terrifying, infuriating and exhausting. Went to the docs and got a diagnosis, i now have a CPAP but it changed my life. The first morning after using it I was almost in tears because I'd forgotten how it felt to be rested, i stopped getting ill all the time and i stopped putting weight on. I cannot stress enough to anyone with symptons to go get it checked. It changed my life and I have no doubt it would've ended badly had i left it too much longer.

I used to work for an online CPAP retailer which is well known nationally and it is one of the most problematic issues in American society. Most of it tends to be obesity but even muscular and thin people can have sleep apnea. Most of the cases are obstructive sleep apnea but there are also more neurological conditions pertaining to central or complex sleep apnea. I now work for a sunglasses company but i'll also cherish my time in the sleep apnea space. Fortunately these days there are home sleep tests which remove the need for some incredibly expensive lab sleep test for a fraction of the cost. I used to set up and ship out the sleep tests at my last job. Sleep is one of the most important facets of health so take care of yourself in that way too!

Hey Noel, I wanted to come back to this video to thank you because I as well as many other commenters got diagnosed with sleep apnea recently
I experienced all the symptoms like tiredness but I never actually woke up gasping or even snored. Even at 5'9 170 the test showed my throat closed almost 10 times an hour while sleeping.
I wanted to share my experience in the comments cause it's worth getting tested even if you're just a bit curious. In the us at least theres at home test options as well. The kicker for me to go for it is when my dentist pointed out that I should get tested since I grind my teeth and have a small throat cavity. Both you're general physician and even dentist in my case should be able to point you where you need to go
Part of my motivation for getting the test done and not blowing it off was remembering this video. Thank you again 🙏

Thanks Noel for making this video. Please read it when you can. It's an important message.
I wanna share how this video helped me. When I watched it the second time, I also noticed I might have a Sleep Apnoea problem but I didn't knew it could be obstructive. I told my parents about it and I got ridiculed and made fun of. Still, I kept that in mind.
Some very much days later, On 10th May, I started to show signs of inflammation in my nose. I was worried but I didn't bother because it didn't hurt me. It was only like a clogged nose to me. In the later days, the symptoms got worse. I had a sore throat, roughness and severe coughing symptoms. Then, it transitioned into, mild sore throat, raspy voice and the same severe coughing. I also started to get little headaches.
I thought the inflammation in nose and the other symptoms were all due to an Allergy which an ENT doctor told me that I might have. I went to that doctor again and he said it's nothing serious. I also asked if I had a polyp and he denied it.
The situation didn't fix. I started to cough more and more, my right nostril started picking up rotting smell, I cough tiny droplet of blood. I went to another doctor. The doctor prescribed me medicine and everything was going fine. Absolutely no coughing, a little sore throat. The same clogged nose. That's all.
But then, it happened again. The morning, I had a swelling on my forehead. My right part of the face was paining and aching like crazy. I was in a total state of agony. I used a Vaporizer to releive the pain and slept.
The next morning, it happened again. I was rushed to a doctor office and I got a diagnosis from a CT scan. Turns out, my sinuses are clogged due Polypoidal Mucosal Thickening, I have mildly deviated septum to the right AND I have Bilateral Concha Bullosa.
The doctor told me to get rid of it by endoscopic surgery. It isn't a must do surgery but if it's not operated upon, the symptoms would worsen and since I'm going to Canada from India which has a high rate of Pollen in air, I'll be much more prone to showing symptoms.
This confirms I DO have Obstructive Sleep Apnoea due to the same reason as yours. I'm thanking you Noel to put my mind into awareness and that I was able to take that awareness seriously and get my problem fixed.

I seem to have developed something akin to excess oils being produced which blocks pores and creates scale like deposits of sebum (the oil) and I started having sleep issues around that time, in the past waking up as if I stopped breathing. I can't remember the last time the ''waking up from not breathing'' happened but I do regularly wake up a lot in the night and as of about beginning of last year heart palpitations and the feeling like it's ''heavy'' in the area around my heart.

I also have oily skin as a matter of fact. And I also think it’s the products I’m using too and eating a better “diet”. My skin looked very dull, lifeless and I had developed whiteheads all over. Also around my eyes I have dark circles but now it’s not as noticeable. So the combination of the CPAP, food, water and products I use has helped me a lot. I'm guessing that this is why I have been feeling drained for years, even though I sleep 7-9 hours daily. The barrier between my nose has been uneven for my entire life making it impossible to breathe through my left nostril completely. So I don't even wanna imagine how it is when I sleep. Every doctor tells me that I need surgery to fix it but I wasn't able to get it before I reached 18 years. I'm planning on visiting a clinic pretty soon.

    Hi Noel,
I’m 26 and have had trouble sleeping since I was around 13-14 years old. I would wake up gasping for air and would feel drowsy throughout the day.
I also started staying up later, afraid that if I were to fall asleep I would start chocking in my sleep.
I felt it was affecting my health and progressed through out the years. I tried melatonin and other supplements to try and help me sleep but it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. Once I started working my sleep deprivation reached a whole new level. I was sleeping maybe 4-5 hours a night.
One day I watched this video and thought it was interesting. I didn’t think much.
A few weeks later I couldn’t sleep and remembered this video. I got up and went to look at my nose. That’s when I saw the septum through one nostril but not the other.
I ended getting surgery to fix my septum a couple of months ago, and it has been awesome. I slept through the night for the first time in a long time and have kept sleeping. I feel like I have more energy and everything just feels better. The other day at work, a coworker from another department told me I looked brighter and I thought that was cool.
Anyways I just wanted to share. If it hadn’t been for this video I would’ve never even thought of a deviated septum.
    I appreciate you posting this🤘🏽

I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart - I'm 2 weeks after septum surgery thanks to your video and I CAN FINALLY FUCKIN' MOVE! I felt very, very weak for last 2 years - 10 minutes of workout and I was done, then muscle sores could haunt me for 3 - 4 days. Now? I can just do things and there's almost no sores, no overtiredness, no anxiety, no hypersomnia, no insomnia, no depressive states. And my GF told me that I snore much less, and... according to my doctor - it's not even full recovery, just, maybe, a half of it.
Guys, if you have a severly deviated septum - it doesn't matter how much you weight, YOU NEED to fix that, this shit will ruin your life sooner or later. For me, I didn't feel it too much for about 25 years, but it was getting worse and worse. You can't imagine how happy I am now, I legitly felt like 80-year old grandpa sometimes and all that because of fuckin' deviated septum.
Thank you Noel, I was aware of my deviated septum, in fact - I almost couldn't breath with my left nostril, but I didn't know how much it was shitting on my life, I didn't even thought about it.

I had been dealing with this for years because I just couldn't afford doing anything about it. I was falling asleep at work and was nearly fired for it. I finally got a machine to use at night. It is annoying, but my god is it better than having no sleep. The 12 months following I was finally diagnosed with Narcolepsy too and underwent a slew of medications till I finally found the one that works for me. This was an absurdly expensive journey for me and my tight finances, but now I live a much happier and healthier life and can now focus on weight loss and therapy instead of extreme fatigue.
