- I'm having a lot of fun with this series. Today is the sixth episode and I'm excited to check out these Strap Blocks from Ernie Ball. They're designed to keep your guitar strap from sliding off the button and they only cost $4.

I have two of these that came with a strap I ordered. I threw them into a junk jar because I didn't know what they were for. Now I'll dig them out because I know what the heck they were for. Thanks, I believe they will come in handy because I don't have enough straps for my 32 CBGs.
Ha ha. It would be easy to overlook these if you didn't know what they were. They really do work though... good luck with all those CBGs. :-)
It’s got the best point of engineering, simplicity! You made me just order one, what a thorough review.
I'm glad it was helpful to you. Thanks for watching.
I just installed these on my two inexpensive guitars. My SG has some Dunlop strap locks because it's my fancy guitar.
Hopefully the video was helpful. Thanks for checking it out.
A few years ago I bought a bag of 100 Grolsch washers on Amazon for about $10. They're essentially the same thing. The only downsides are (a) they all aren't a consistent size and (b) they're only available in red (last time I checked).
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for tuning in. I really appreciate your comments.
That’s so funny. I literally have meant to do a video on these cause they are so awesome !!
Glad you did the video !!
Ha ha. Once again... great minds! Thanks for watching.
This kind of thing is *especially* worthwhile on an SG-style strap button (where it's on the neck joint), because a strap-lock's longer attachment will poke you in the ribs.
That said, it's also the same thing as those little washers that come on bottles of Grolsch beer, so if you have easy access to that (and are willing to drink the beer) that might also be something to consider.
I like the idea. Very thrifty. I mean… what guitarist isn’t going to down a few bottles of Grolsch on the weekend?
I'll definitely say as a bassist I've used those and the fender ones and they work amazing
Thanks for checking it out. They're definitely worth the cost.
@@musicalmiscellanywait i just realised have you got diamond plate steel for you pickup covers 3:44
@@Nickgaming-sy5og that guitar only had one pickup so there’s a cover where the neck pickup would be.
I might have to try one of these out. My CBG (only have one so far) have a tendency to slip off one of it's strap buttons so this seems like something for me even though I usually play it sitting down. Thanks for the informative vid!
I'm pretty impressed with how well they work and for the price... it's a no brainer. Thanks for watching.
I wanted to love these rubber strap blocks but they eventually unscrew/strip your strap button. If you can a strap you like with thin steap ends it may work better but for most straps, these blocks are so tight on the strap pin that as they move and turn they grip the button and start spinning the screw eventually
Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your experiences.
Great video, thanks!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
You go to home Depot and buy a 20 pack or 40 pack bag. Cheaper than name brand.
Okay. Thanks for watching.
I love these!
Thanks for watching the video Kenny. I think they're well worth the money.
First i'm glad to see you survived the storms yesterday, now $4 is worth it but i don't know if i would be relying on $2 to hold my $1,000 Ibanez or my Prs
Sorry Ken that was for Kale😂
@@garydesrosiers5692 Thanks Gary. If you're comfortable modifying the guitar/strap... something like a Schaller lock will probably be stronger but for $4... these babies are impressive. They really are good.
Great infomercials review
Sorry , meant " informative ".
Ha ha. It might be an informercial... but not a very effective one. Thanks for watching.
those red things are impossible to put on without unscrewing.
It takes some stretching but I was able to do it without much trouble. Thanks for checking out the video.
these are cool but you could also use recycled bottle caps from a water bottle. there's instructions online. its a super easy diy and the best part of all its free if you got some bottles laying around.
Thanks for checking it out. There are a lot of ways to do this. There's people that have used plumbing washers and other things as well. I've not heard the bottle cap solution but hey... that's creative.
@@musicalmiscellany I wish I was that creative lol. I got a question about your sg. how do you like the p90s on it? I was thinking of swapping mine out from humbuckers.
@@shawnlennon1947 Mine actually has Lindy Fralin P90s installed. It had 'em when I bought it. That said, I absolutely LOVE the sound of it. I wouldn't change anything about this guitar.
What was the kit from which you made the Cheapu guitar??? Thanks! Love the G Crap videos BTW...
It's a Muslady guitar kit. The build video can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/kd4EvMGQJLw/v-deo.html Thanks for watching Guitar Crap wally. I really appreciate your support.
@@musicalmiscellany You are welcome. I am currently living in Costa Rica and am looking for guitar build projects. Thanks for the info and inspiration. Have you done anything with lap steels?
