She is the reason the franks and van pels survived. She brought them food, and news about the world when they were in hiding for 25 months. And she risked her life everyday going and helping them, any ole' day the Gestapo could've come in and killed her or arrested her for even knowing where they were hiding let alone helping them survive. One of my role models this woman is. A true hero.
How many families dis she hide ? I thought it was 1 family of 4, 1 family of 3, 1 man, and a cat all living in the Annex. When the Gistapo found them, they were all shipped off to Labour camp and only 1 man survived out of the 8 people. Anne Frank died 7 months later in the camp onky 3 weeks before the liberation. Fun fact, Meip brought them a radio in a book.
Miep deserves better. She risked her life every day for 2 years, to help hide the Frank family, and buy them food and supplies even when it became hard. If she hadn’t saved the diary, we wouldn’t know her, or her story. We all owe Anne’s fame to her, and who knows what else she would’ve written? Anne didn’t deserve the fate she got, she deserved to grow up and fufill her dreams. Thank you to Miep for your risks and preserving the diary and thank you to Otto Frank for getting the diary published. May they all rest in peace.
When I saw the thumbnail for this video, I thought, holy heck, did Miep discover the Fountain of Youth? She aged *really* well. But it was a picture of an actress ...
I'm trying to find the whole series to buy it. It breaks my heart too thinking how unjust this world is and how nothing has changed. Evil is truly evil.
Real heroes don't have to wear capes. This woman risked everything to help other human beings. It took immense courage to do what she did. RIP Miep. You're acts of courage and love live well beyond your time on Earth. Thank you.
I am currently reading 'The Betrayal of Anne Frank' and Miep is absolutely a hero who deserves all the limelight she didn't feel she deserved. What a truly incredible person. May she be resting in peace and exalted for her extraordinary efforts.
Without Miep Gies we would never had known Anne Frank and her ‘family’ nor their struggle! Thank you, God Bless you and may you RIP! You alone gave the world Anne!
“I don't like being called a hero because no one should ever think you have to be special to help others. Even an ordinary secretary or a housewife or a teenager can turn on *a small light* in a dark room.”
Thank you Miep, you are a true hero, you didnt care what others said , But instead you flollowed your heart and what you knew was right. You are a true hero. Wish more pepole were like you, just like Anne your name will not go down in vain. RIP Miep.
She has also left this world now 😭 Breaks my heart that she left us in 2010!! This is horrible that even after that tragic end of those innocent souls, we haven't learned to love each other irrespective of the religion, caste etc 💔💔💔
Rest In Peace Miep, she was one of the most brave people on this planet. What she did was incredibly amazing. I suggest reading her book Anne Frank Remembered, it told such an amazing story.
A hero, a brave and a very modest and humble women. Not to forget the huge contribution her her amazing husband Jan Gies. She did what every sensitive person has to do in order to save human beings. Mies is an amazing person, risking her life for the sake of saving others. Nothing cannot be greater than this ! A truthful friend and a bare woman - an example for all generation to come !
miep is one the most person I admire she risked her life o save Anne frank this girl deserve a diamond medals. You are the best miep thank you for risking your life for frank family
Miep Gies was knighted in 1997 by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands 1995 she received the Yad Vashem Righteous Among the Nations by the Jewish community, just to name two!
I watched 'The Attics' yesterday and had read 'Anne Frank Remembered' some years ago. I know Miep didn't want to be called 'hero.' But I cannot find other words to call her.
I just got through watching a small light on Hulu. It’s amazing what she went through and the fact that I had never heard of Miep before is a shame and shows that we need our history to teach us more women that truly changed the fate of many people. Her husband Jan, he did so much as well. Acting against the nazis in a way that was possibly more dangerous than what Miep was doing. They were both so courageous and they deserve so much more credit than what they get. And we not only remember Anne, but also Margot, and Mrs.Frink and everyone else who was killed in those camps.
You can be! If you see something ‘wrong,’ DO something. I use the crochet skills i learned in childhood (40-odd years ago) to make scarves, lap afghans, shawls for the homeless.
I removed my last comment which was basically telling nakedtween to get therapy, I think he knows he needs it. But this is about Miep who is someone who had a big heart and soul, who was brave, who acted in ways we would hope we would under the same conditions but who knows. There are allways haters, love is often harder, more courageous and definitely more inspiring.
This is just amazing... She had experienced this and was able to share to the world in a personal view and it must have been horrifying going through this and talking about it, but she did. She is a wonderful and strong woman and I hope she is resting in peace with the others. And I hope that even Hitler has served his time to get rid of his sins so he could go to heaven because Anne knew that everyone has good in them deep down inside their souls, even if they have done the worst things.
+Emma Frost No one knows for sure who betrayed the eight residents of the Annex. On Miep's website there is a page that lists several possible betrayers. www.miepgies.nl/en/The%20betrayal/
+Daniel Aguirre no thats not true, thats just what they use in the movie because they simply dont know for certain who did it. It will always be in the shadows sadly.
I cant describe how wonderful and selfless this woman is. A young girl with her whole life ahead of her risked her livelihood without even a second thought to help the Frank family.
mscentrum04 Your facts are incorrect.Miep Gies did truly save Otto, his family & the others, but why would you make up a silly tale implying Miep and Otto had more than a respectful friendship?Shame!
I cant imagin being in Meips shoes. Senoir year of high school ( I graduated in June of 2014) we had to read a non fiction book. I have known about Anna since I was old enough to understand and I cried so much. I started writing about my life when I was 11. I had a lot of challages in my life (I am only 20) but I am handicapped and alot of people would come up to me and ask what happened to me (I have a paralyzed arm and leg). Nor Anne and I went through the same challeges we both know how it feels to be a outcast.
Shellee Peters you are a person, not an outcast, don’t look for the approval of people, look for God, trust Jesus as your Savior, believe in the resurrection with all your heart and confess with you mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and you will be saved.
It's a very powerful and sad book that draws out a lot of emotion when people read it because it is just so horrific the struggles she went through trying to survive and sad that if Britain had only been there two weeks earlier Anne might have been alive but instead was taken by typhus.
Shellee i know it's been 5 years since you commented but I do hope you feel better now, you are worth, you're a person like me or anyone. I wish you all the happiness
La France est en train de sombrer dans l'obscurité comme il y a 80 ans Le témoignage de cette femme incroyable prend une dimension particulière !......
Reading the diary, it makes me sad. You have to realize that this girl had her whole life planned. She had dreams of seeing the world, being a journalist. The Nazis took her life, and I don't mean only killed her, I mean it deeper. She could have lived to tell the tale and to see the world for the beauty it is. Her life ended seeing the shadow of human nature, the worst way.
Miep didn't just only protect and save the Franks. Miep and her husband Jan helped save countless Jews from a certain death. Who knows the actual number of lives she saved, people who are alive today because of the actions of Miep and Jan.
During the Second World War, my Great-Grandparents in France 🇫🇷 sheltered a young Jewish girl successfully hiding from their village and some German Soldiers who lodged in my Great-Grandparents’ home that she was Jewish.
Miep Gies is an inspiring hero who deserves the best. She protected Anne and her family and then saved the diary.
+Hazel May Actually Otto Frank, Anne's father went back to the house, found the diary, and published it.
Not true, and not funny.
ZIMMSTER Liar
Hazel May A rare courage.
Admirable y valiente

Miep is a hero the way she had a special bond with Anne ,Otto,Margot, and Edith but sadly. She never saw three of them again
didnt she tell that they were hiding their
No it was someone else
Jamie Graves she did see Otto
Brett Bender no one told anyone they followed krugler or someone else to the annex
QuitsEndyMion 86 someone did tell and even to this day no body knows who, they said it might be the thief or maid or even a worker
To think if she never picked up the diary we never would have heard the story ✌🏽
She and Otto frank did good for Anne and this whole world. Her story will never be forgotten
Amen 🙏🏾 God bless them fr
100% FAKE. HE WAS A TOTAL LIER. THE BOOK WAS WRTTEN BY OTTO FRANK IN BALLPOINT PEN, WHICH DID NOT EXIST UNTIL AFTER THE WAR ENDED.
I’m watching A Small Light and it fills me with sorrow. Knowing the fate of the families she hid and how it’s the same fate and story of millions.

No, really? I thought the description that says the exact thing was just lying!
For those who don't know how the angels look like look at the miep gies that's how an angel looks like.
I love how the title of the video says interview with Miep, yet they put the pretty lady in the thumbnail 🤷🏻♀️ a bit disrespectful, dont you think?
As if caring for eight people in hiding at Opekta weren't enough, Miep and her husband also hid a young Jewish man at their home as well.
Miep didn't just only protect and save the Franks. Miep and her husband Jan helped save countless Jews from a certain death. Who knows the actual number of lives she saved, people who are alive today because of the actions of Miep and Jan.
She is the most amazing person in the world
Such a courageous woman. She was willing to risk her own life to try ad save the Frank family.
Whath a kind great wonderful woman she was.
A true hero.
I was always glad and amazed that she was not arrested or deported. So many who helped the Jews met bad ends.
During the Second World War, my Great-Grandparents in France 🇫🇷 sheltered a young Jewish girl successfully hiding from their village and some German Soldiers who lodged in my Great-Grandparents’ home that she was Jewish.

Amazing

Miep Gies is beautiful both in and out. She risks her life just to protect the innocent Jewish people by providing them with daily supplies.
God bless her dear woman
Mary from Zoeys playlist was so gorgeous back in the day and still is.
I did a report on Miep Gies in high school when she passed away.
we sent meip a letter from my middle school and she responded back to us
