I’m 16 years old and I love your videos cause you show how to fix things and put new things in thanks for making these vids to make me more smart on cars and trucks 🙏🏽
Before you replace the washer fluid reservoir check your washer fluid pump itself. I have an 03 Silverado and my dad had an 04 Silverado and both of them leaked washer fluid. Turns out the washer fluid pump housing is made from plastic and it eventually cracks causing it to leak washer fluid. Replaced just the washer fluid pump on both trucks and no more leak.
Absolutely love how you cover the entire process in these videos! Keep up the solid work. Really helps when i work on my Tahoe. Been considering upgrading the shocks since i've seen other people upgrade to the Bilsteins as well, but am unsure how it would affect the "air ride".
Those were original! I put the same Bilstein shocks in the front of my 06 Yukon 4x4. I did order new shock bushings from GM as they are more heavy duty, and have that sleeve to eat up the large hole in the upper frame mount.
@@magaly3424 I don't believe the air ride suspension is compatible . I could be wrong when you search for shocks on various auto parts suppliers websites it usually gives you options and says compatible with or without whatever suspension package your tahoe Is equipped with. Check out carid website lots of options and gives you options based on vehicle subpackage.
I just rebuilt the front end of my Yukon, new upper and lower control arms, hubs, sway bar links, shocks, and belltech drop knuckles. The rear end drop comes next weekend. Front sits awesome and the new joints definitely tightened it up. Those bilsteins are definitely an upgrade tho👍
Always check the RPO numbers to see what Suspension came on your vehicle and you might be surprised to find out what it comes with. Plus how much better it will ride with the correct shocks. Factory parts are always worth it
I had an 01 Tahoe and it was the same for me, no real difference in feeling when I replaced the shocks. I got more of a difference from changing the tires and springs.
Had about the same experience with my ‘03 Z71 Silverado. Replaced the shocks with some ProComp ES3000’s I got a helluva deal on and I’m happy with them. Down the road, I’ll get some new, better shocks, but I’m fixing up this rusty coastal Chevy for my first truck so I don’t have money to throw around for long travel Bilsteins or Kings🤷🏼♂️. That’s gotta go towards new leaf springs which are completely cooked. Made in Mexico smh.
I just put a touch country leveling kit and it made a massive difference, I have about 260k. Had original front shocks, and they were completely gone, I could compress them and they stayed compressed.
This is one of my favorite "project" cars on UA-cam. It's simple, and all the modifications that you have done, like the new wheels and the infotainment were super nice, and not something straight out of a slammed supra. Congrats my dude!
I saw one of your more recent videos where you went back to the stock 17" wheels. Did going up to 18" really make the ride stiffer that it made you go back to the original?
How is the ride difference between the 4600 and the 5100 both being at stock height on a 2004 Tahoe z71 4x4? Daily driver no off roading or towing The 5100’s I’m looking at are 0-2.5 inches so I know they work at stock height as well but the question I can’t find the answer to is what rides between between the two and which would you get if price doesn’t matter?
I used to have an 08 Tacoma TRD Off-Road that had Bilstein Shocks and Like you said it Felt like it road on Rails. I loved that suspension setup. I now Drive a 2016 Chevy Silverado and the suspension is way to soft for my liking. I've been contemplating swapping to Bilsteins to see if it would add some firmness to the suspension but I guess that is not the case.
Daniel Lizarraga thanks, I have always used MONROES in a lifetime from Indiana( now in Hekena Valley, no real MONROE/ Tenneco Service here):: relooking at BILSTEIn( had KONI ONCE , on TransAM SPECIAL ED).....
I have a 2005 suburban with 194000 miles and I need new shocks. Mine has the auto ride suspension (that has been bad for as long as I can remember) would these shocks work with vehicles equipped with air ride suspension ( I want to convert it to an independent suspension and get rid of air ride as I do not tow often). If you had any advice I would greatly appreciate it :)
Oh wow...in February , I put the same shocks in my 05’ , silver birch z71. I also did the upper control arms, poly sway bar bushings and end links while I was at it. Massive difference. It’s not wallowing like a pig now.
I put rancho shocks on mine after a lift kit, I made so much of a difference in ride quality on mine. But I had to cut the stud off before I took the nut off on the front
So I have an 05 suburban. The front end feels so loose and feels super floaty especially when I get on it. It’s sketchy it doesn’t feel planted. I feel like the shocks are shot but idk. I’ve replaced a lot of components in the steering and nothing is fixing it. I get this pull when driving down a straight road like it like to walk. I have to pin the wheel the other way to keep straight.
Just picked up a pair of their adjustable struts for my '14 Armada. Supposed to cure the massive bump steer issue in these monsters. Nothing like new parts! :D
I had a leak in my washer system on my 05 Sierra, ended up being the pump split open from freezing in SW PA weather and it was leaking out the sides of the pump not the reservoir itself
Has anyone experienced a vibration in the brake pedal when braking at about 3quarters down at low break speed or when turning the steering wheel and braking at the same time say when parking? Just got my rotors and pads done but the feeling was there before the brake job. Any ideas?
LsxMatt I’m not sure what that feels like but I’m going to say no. When it starts the vibration or pulsating i am able to push through that and the vehicle stops.
i have a question, i know this video is semi old but, i replaced all 4 shocks on my 05 however, Are the front bump stops supposed to be resting on the control arm?
You needa replace those lower ball joints or lower control arms also upper with swaybqr links and bushings maybe yout outter and inner rods I guarantee you it be super smooth oh and your rear sway barlinks and bushings should help
I have a 05 tahoe with 232k miles. Changing shocks now and the front were original. The rear have some pretty beefy Sachs shocks(15029588 txu). Not sure if they are original or not, not a lot of info to read up on. These shocks still look really good, rubber is just starting to crack. I'm about 200 pounds and after I took them off i can't compress them a single cnt hair.(due to being for heavier loads perhaps and that's why its so much more beefy than the replacement ones?) I'm replacing but not sure I really need too.. Bought it with 202k miles
Thanks, definitely some work: reminds me my 77 TA SPEC ED( to “KONI”, TOUGH job, rode a little rough),& my 70:DODGE CORONET 383/( to MONROE Overloads, etc:): definitely improvements in Tracking,& hadndling.. THE LAST 15 years I have left STRUTS/ Shocks to my Mechanics...... to difficult, etc. : & downsizing to Helena VALLEY MT.........DO MISS WORKIJG A LOT ON Vehicles,...INTERESTINGLY, getting ready to have 2007 GMC Canyon !new Shocks ( now Monroe @90,000mi), and 2015 SODGE JOURNEY 4 CYL@70,000 miles,....MONROE Dealer here not interested( one strut may be leakin* slightly) on “ Lifetime MONROES”.. MAUBE SWITCH TO the ones you used ( always used MONROES, BEING FROM INDIANA( INDY 500 ads & good experience with Tenneco/ Monroe with previous: always all four Shocks on several vehicles,)
So I work at BillStein we build shocks for every car in North America so everything from GMC Ford Chevy Dodge Toyota shit we build shocks for the Dodge viper when it was out we're building shops for the new Ford bronco the new ram so basically any shocks that's made in North America that's where they come from Hamilton Ohio
I had a bear of a time getting the passenger front top nut off the shock. I ended up using my impact wrench and was able to work it off. Driver's side was cake. The hydroboost was leaking power steering fluid all over the top nut, so the impact just zinged it right off.
I've changed my shocks thinking my ride would be smother! and didn't see much of a difference either! waste of money!! Edited for smoother! misspelling is not a habit of mine! This time, I was really SHOCKED!
192k on my '04 Suburban and front shocks need to be replaced. Don't have too much $ to spend on it right now but do want to get it done. Does anybody have any recommendations on front shocks at a reasonable price online? Thanks in advance!
I had the 4600 Bilstein and honestly I ended up buying the originals shocks that came in my gmc 1500. I loved how the shocks felt in cold days but in warmer days they sucked idk if climate played a roll on the shocks. Last thing about the 4600 is I kept bottoming out..?
Hey how is going every one You had air ride suspencion? Is bilstein shock the best choice ? How those air bags work? I recently got a yukon xl rear stock shocks are bad one in the front is bad so i need to replace front and rear but no more air ride suspencion also i need to tow to full capacity i havent but i will what kind of convertion kit brand will be the best choice i appreciate you all Good comments and advice from experience i wanna get some bilsteins shocks front/back Air bags i heard they dont last and is not an easy job to replace them also thinking on getting some let me know what you guys think thanks
I have the same color and model of the Tahoe that you have but it was made 2002. Do you know how to change the center consoles lock? I tried the ignition key but it doesn’t work, so I’m thinking I’ll have to change the console lock in order to have it locked properly, and I don’t know how to do that 😂.
Just had to replace my water pump on my 05 Tahoe. It was the original one and it had 139,000 miles on that and also I had changed out the serpentine and a/c belt belts that were also original.
The best generation tahoe in style hands down everybody wanted one of these when they first came out especially the Z71 option
You can go at those front struts from the top. Right in the engine bay, just hit them with an impact
I’m 16 years old and I love your videos cause you show how to fix things and put new things in thanks for making these vids to make me more smart on cars and trucks 🙏🏽

Nice to see the Tahoe getting some love again.
235k on my 05 tahoe and I'm suprised just how many parts are still factory off the assembly line.
That specific generation and the one before it chevy was making bulletproof trucks.
I literally laughed out loud after you compressed the first shock! 🤣😂🤣
Absolutely love how you cover the entire process in these videos! Keep up the solid work. Really helps when i work on my Tahoe. Been considering upgrading the shocks since i've seen other people upgrade to the Bilsteins as well, but am unsure how it would affect the "air ride".
It's gonna be a new truck by the time you're finished with it. Congrats on 50k subs. Won't be long till that's doubled
Thanks!
Those were original! I put the same Bilstein shocks in the front of my 06 Yukon 4x4. I did order new shock bushings from GM as they are more heavy duty, and have that sleeve to eat up the large hole in the upper frame mount.
A link to the new shocks is in the description!
Would these shocks work wit a 2004 tahoe LT model air ride suspension
@@magaly3424 I don't believe the air ride suspension is compatible . Lol! I always use wrenches as hammers too.. Every tool has a hammer side to it 😅
Those are the Z71 shocks which you can still buy from Rock auto for pretty cheap. Good for off-roading 👍🏼
I have a 05 Yukon and love the Tahoe videos. I replaced the front and rear shocks last fall. Those front shocks were a real pain
I had an 01 Tahoe and it was the same for me, no real difference in feeling when I replaced the shocks. I got more of a difference from changing the tires and springs.
Love what you’re doing Matt, you’re an inspiration! Keep killing the game!
You should put some thread locker lubricant before you screw them in. It prevents it from being too hard to take out.
Had about the same experience with my ‘03 Z71 Silverado. Replaced the shocks with some ProComp ES3000’s I got a helluva deal on and I’m happy with them. Brooo yesss finally a Tahoe video man !! Love the Tahoe videos just because I have a Tahoe 😂I do everything to mine as you do to yours
I just put a touch country leveling kit and it made a massive difference, I have about 260k. Had original front shocks, and they were completely gone, I could compress them and they stayed compressed.
I have an 06 tahoe with the premium z55 rear shocks, will those billsteins replace them, the original acdelco shocks are $300 a pair, ouch
Great question. I have ZW7/G65 . Did you find decent replacement?
I agree completely with ya. I have a few of them gm trucks and never could really tell much difference with new Ones. Good vid.
Stephen Johnston so I can just grab some regular Monroe’s and be ok? I don’t do any off reading. Just city and highway driving.
This is one of my favorite "project" cars on UA-cam. It's simple, and all the modifications that you have done, like the new wheels and the infotainment were super nice, and not something straight out of a slammed supra. Congrats my dude!

I just replaced my original shocks on my 04 Tahoe with 235k. But also added a 6" lift kit.
I watch your videos all the time I’m 15 and gonna be getting car soon I live in buffalo ny just like you to
Hi Matt, My Avalanche 2002 NF came from the factory with Bilstein shocks. Love your chanel. Videos helps with my project on GMT800 platform.

Did you have the Nvomat (self level)?
I just installed the 5100’s on my 04 Yukon. I love them
Are you on stock ride height? The 5100 are slightly longer right? My torsion is almost maxed and still sags a bit on the front.
Is alignment needed after replacing front shocks on a torsion bar front suspension?
I have a 2005 suburban with 194000 miles and I need new shocks. I'm impressed your shocks moved. My factory shocks off of my 38k mile Sierra were completely shot.
My rear shock(left) on 2004 Tahoe 101K is leaking. RPO ZW7 and G65 . Must I use the expensive Nivomats ??
I'm bout to change my 2004 z71 Tahoe shocks and they factory 315k
The original sharks are like gwi group or something gee something I or something group. It's a Chinese company
I have a big question, can I use those front shocks on a 06 Yukon Denali my suspension is just like urs except for the air ride in the back
Vise Grips fix everything, fire fixes what Vise Grips don't.
BWI group makes the fromt shocks for 00-06 suv with auto level
Awful choice. Sorry man those shocks are UGLY!

Thanks for the videos i bought my tahoe the beginning of this year and found your videos very helpful keep up the good work
My 2004 Tahoe is bounced as hell and I bet it’s my struts but need shocks also
Just picked up a pair of their adjustable struts for my '14 Armada. Supposed to cure the massive bump steer issue in these monsters. Nothing like new parts! :D
Your first mistake was buying a Nissan lol
I love the videos bro 🙌🏽you should do a Tahoe video where u detail the paint
Factory shocks where the big fat load levelers
Nivomats
I had a leak in my washer system on my 05 Sierra, ended up being the pump split open from freezing in SW PA weather and it was leaking out the sides of the pump not the reservoir itself
Exactly what happened to mine!
This video is shocking
Will these fit a 2006 silverado crewcab perse hombre?

Does it feel like the abs coming on? If so its usually the front hubs.
LsxMatt I’m not sure what that feels like but I’m going to say no. When it starts the vibration or pulsating i am able to push through that and the vehicle stops.
Will those shocks work for the auto ride if I’m trying to get rid of it
what size and brand tires are you running?
The front shock does not have coil around itself?
Where you get your fender flares?
Link to shocks ? I have an 04 that needs shocks bad
GMT 800 came with the standard DELCO, the z71 off-road packages came with Billstein
i have a question, i know this video is semi old but, i replaced all 4 shocks on my 05 however, Are the front bump stops supposed to be resting on the control arm?
No should have a little travel
You needa replace those lower ball joints or lower control arms also upper with swaybqr links and bushings maybe yout outter and inner rods I guarantee you it be super smooth oh and your rear sway barlinks and bushings should help

Where can I find the RPO numbers you talk about . I got 97 tahoe .,4x4 two door.
On the sticker inside the glove box door
What shocks did you go.with?

Are you planning on upgrading your brake rotors? it’s website called Detroitaxle.com
I had the 4600 Bilstein and honestly I ended up buying the originals shocks that came in my gmc 1500. I loved how the shocks felt in cold days but in warmer days they sucked idk if climate played a roll on the shocks. Last thing about the 4600 is I kept bottoming out..?

Good comments and advice from experience i wanna get some
bilsteins shocks front/back
Air bags i heard they dont last and is not an easy job to replace them
also thinking on getting some
let me know what you guys think thanks
looks like your Rear Calipers 2 Pistons THICK VENTED Rear Rotor
my 2018 Tahoe has only 1 Piston and Rear Rotors look alot Thinner
You need to wait some time so you can tell the changes on the new shocks.......AHMED FROM BAGHDAD IRAQ
I have the same color and model of the Tahoe that you have but it was made 2002. Do you know how to change the center consoles lock? Did that subwoofer ever end up fitting and was there a plug already there for it? I think that's a rare option. Especially on a base SLS model.
Here for the Tahoe!! ❤️
Just had to replace my water pump on my 05 Tahoe. It was the original one and it had 139,000 miles on that and also I had changed out the serpentine and a/c belt belts that were also original.
Just asking if anyone knows, but why do new shocks cost $1200 each from the dealer for a 03 suburban autoride?
Hd conversion?
Gotta love the Milwaukee impact. Damn thing will break your wrist if you aren’t careful.
Hey what’s up bud? I put the same shocks on my 06 Tahoe z71. A lot better ride. 👍🏽
do i need to replace my springs when i replace my shocks on my 2006 chevy silverado 1500 2wd
I put them on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It’s so much better.
Will these fit 2001 Sierra RWD 2 WD ?? i have coil springs in front !!?
Can you show us you air suspension setup? I'm thinking of adding rear bags to my suburban for towing.
I go through the setup here and show how it works: ua-cam.com/video/zJGcDHPpjn4/v-deo.html
10-4. Thanks. Your Tahoe videos are super helpful. And well produced.
Why is it there is always one that has to be trouble?
BTW, did you rotate your tires criss cross or straight front to back, same side?
Get ram jet lights
Question: How come you went with these over AC Delco? Looking on Rock Auto
gotta replace the springs to or that shits gonna jump like crazy in the back
You're the best ♥️♥️👑
While i enjoy the Tahoe videos, enough that i'm looking for one now, WE NEED HP NUMBERS!!! :)
I’m doing this soon
Thanks for the videos man. I have a 2004 Tahoe z71. How do you like the tires?
