    Good video. I've seen someone else mention an issue with green and white wire too. I think that paint job looks cool

    Making progress!! The first thing you need to do is get rid of them damn butt splices, there junk on these smaller gauge wires and especially in an application like this where you're going to get stuff wet! I would remove the butt splices and solder instead and use heat shrink to completely insulate and seal the connection ! Last ( it will be time consuming) I would check continuity from the connectors at each point to insure no wires are broke. Or get a new wiring harness? My suggestions are based off my 22 years as an electrician :-) Last if the carburetor and wiring harness fix doesn't solve the issues you may need a new ECU? My buddy has a 2006 Suzuki LTR 450 ( quad racer) and he was having similar issues, replaced everything you are replacing and couldn't get it to stay running. He finally took it to a mechanic and they found the ECU was fried. Runs great now!

      Yeah I hate butt connectors but figured I'd use them and see if it fixes the issue. Plus it would get me riding while I wait for the new one. I'm still going to leave your comment for someone who may not know about how bad they corrode in wet environments. I also have another CDI to replace with if needed. It's just crazy to me that I overlooked that broken wire for so long. But that harness has so many plugs the aren't used so just figured it went to one of those because I had it running twice before! Thats why its important to share this experience with others. I love the love though. Thank you!

      @@thethriftysnowmobiler9801 , can't wait to see it running! I'm currently restoring/ repairing a Cub Cadet SLT 1550 I just picked up on craigslist! I have Cub cadet LT 1050 that I bought 12 years ago ( currently 465 hrs) and even though it runs awesome ( never any issues) I think the hydrostatic drive is going :-( So that's why I picked this other tractor up, I really didn't want spend $2800 on a new one ( especially with the current situation of our economy) so $800 is way more dooable! I'm doing a "custom" paint scheme on the hood :-) Just trying to stay busy during this lockdown !
      Good luck on getting the banshee running, hopefully the carb is last issue!

      I have a 1976 Cub Cadet iH 1450 that I picked up 5 years ago and started my business with. I will keep that tractor till the day I die! Thats what started it all for me. It's Actually an 2003 Yamaha Raptor 660. I have the carbs soaking now. I am actually about to go out and clean them and put them back in tonight I think. It was too nice today and is going to be for at least the next 4 days not to be out riding!

    I have spark, but only when I let off the starter. Any thoughts on what to check?

    Sorry I just seen where you said you're getting a new harness! Disregard the soldering statement :-)

      I'm keeping it! It's good info for the next guy. I might solder it when I replace it and hold it as a backup harness.

    I have a 2006 yamaha rhino 660 im getting spark nice white spark but it won't run what could be the problem?

    • @thethriftysnowmobiler9801
      @thethriftysnowmobiler9801  Рік тому +1

      Could be a dirty carburetor. Possibly a stuck needle valve. If you're getting spark and good compression fuel would be where I would start. Likely a carb rebuild would be a good start.

    What was the little thing that made u get spark, I have a 2001 raptor 660 and I have replaced battery, starter, CDI, wiring harness, spark plug, ignition coil(2), regulator, stator, and I still have 0 spark, and all I want to do is ride the trails I got lol, any help would be much appreciated sir

      Ultimately my issue was a broken woodruff key. I also had a broken wire going to the CDI that goes to the pickup coil. The broken woodruff key caused a timing issue. Pull the magneto off and check it. You need the puller tool but once you have it, it only takes like 10 minutes to check. .99cent fix. Tractor supply carries the woodruff keys you'll need if its broken

      But if you have no spark I would run down the white wire with the green line that comes from the pick up coil and make sure its not damaged first before spending any more. Mine was a broken wire. The starter clutch sheered off in the past and they never got all the broken bolt heads out before putting it back together and that cause alot of problems too. I had a perfect storm kind of problem. It was a bunch of things. But if you arent getting any spark at all. The things to check are the pickup coil And the the wire that leads from it. Also make sure the orange wire isnt broken. I might make a video of things to check now that I understand how it works.

      Ok I will definitely check that tomorrow, I just have had the raptor for awhile and haven’t figured out the problem, and so tired of dumping money into it lol.

      I feel ya there. This was supposed to be my quarantine fun instead it has turned into a project. I'm in so deep now might as well keep going. Finding the bolts in the motor was a relief. I thought I was just going crazy! Just waiting on parts now. I am going to tear it apart today so once parts get here I can just stick her back together. I will make a video outlining how the spark system works. Understanding that makes troubleshooting alot easier.

      Also check your plug gap? Mine was too tight at first then I fixed it and got spark. I had a multitude of problems which made my hunt alot more difficult. This info will be alot easier to put into a video so keep an eye out the next one will be about my findings in the wiring
