AWESOME video 👌🏿 And it came out right on time. I just got a sony fx6 and noted to myself just a couple of days ago that I needed to learn more about frame rates. And then your video popped up on my feed! Thanks so much :)
Great points homie! Me never really using slow mo was the main selling point for me grabbing the a7iv earlier this year! Time and place for everything, but 24 fps reigns supreme!
@@KofiYeboahAhh I had the date wrong 20 April 2021. Chauvin found guilty. Also I liked the comment at 3:30 I know it's not pc but picturing my mum shooting with a camera = 🤣
You're videos always motivate me to get better at film making, but also get off my butt and go work out haha. I use 240fps for moving/splashing water. That's about it.
As a Stunt Coordinator, I use slow motion when there is a move or stunt that needs to be appreciated by the audience because at 24 fps it is too fast and won’t be appreciated by the audience. Question- Some Sony reps say 240 at 1080 is not that good. They kinda frowned on it. What are your thoughts?
If you shoot 60 or 120 and play it on a 30p timeline. Whats the difference? I mean 60p has more Bit per Frame, but having the flexibility doesnt mean if I shoot in 120p I have to slow it down. I film most Interviews in 25p oer 50p due to quality (Europe) but all other in 100. Than in Post i decide to put it on slomo or not. I know theres a difference in motion blur....but well. Thats my question. Do you really see it?
Realtime video is just better and the viewer is able to connect to the scene in realtime. Slow motion prevents you from showing all the shot where realspeed clips you can use the whole 3- 5 seconds in a sequence..
at halfway thru the video I've noticed much if not most footage so far demonstrating 120 or 240 FPS even though varying in content was quite similar as being recorded in slightly different grayscale type settings/backgrounds. Cinematic yes, and impressive too, but repetitious. I've done ample footage in vivid bold color in 120 and with little skill or practice there's a special "pop" because of the vibrancy. I don't know why the general consensus is that _cinematic_ footage needs to aspire to replicate Raging Bull or The Godfather. Neither Martin Scorsese nor Francis Ford Coppola invented cinematic footage. Not criticizing this video, *it's fine,* and the part about learning which frame rates are suitable for what is highly important, and yes, after watching the remainder of the video, if was cautioned about the downsides of excessive/overuse, _absolutely correctly explained..._

I use it sparingly, not my favourite FR, but its decent when used every once in a while
Word!
Great video bro!

Video on how you use S&Q on FX6/FX3 or Komodo ( cameras I own lol )
Imma make that a short ! Super easy, barely an inconvenience
Question: do you ever shoot in 120p (1/240th of a second shutter) then add mild motion blur in post to give it a natural look when at 100% speed?
Only if I’m speed ramping actually !
@@KofiYeboah Oh nice. Thanks for the reply! Keep up the great work
