He walks us through what being a Satanist ACTUALLY means, common stereotypes, their core beliefs and why membership has been going up as the Supreme Court gets more Christian. I was so stoked to see that you interviewed him, and I was surprised that he agreed to it! I watched that documentary, "Hail Satan" many years ago and was surprised (though not shocked), to learn that everything I thought I knew about them was not only untrue but so far from it. They actually do a lot of good works in this country, and I've always felt it was just a shame that they continue to call themselves that because it does seem a bit petty and gives people the wrong impression of what it is that they actually believe in and, more importantly, what they do.

If more people actually understood who they've been taught to hate and why, the world would be a better place. Unfortunately the governments of the world rely largely on their abilities to make an "us vs. them" mentality to operationalize their agendas.
If they dropped the name and visual things, most of their power to point out certain things would go. Also nothing to be ashamed about their name.

Ok. 20 years ago he said some shit on a 24 hour radio show that can be taken as anti Semitic. However, he came from a place of militant atheism and had a much harsher view on all religions. He has since been able to reevaluate his notions though. He isn’t anti Semitic.

Satanism starts with Secular Humanism, but takes it two steps further.
Lucien Greaves, TST founder and spokesman, said PRECISELY that TST principles start with Secular Humanism. It was a few years ago on his first appearance on the "Thinking Atheist" podcast with Seth Andrews.
The "two steps further" are, namely, popularizing the concept of rational atheistic religion, and church-state legal activism.
it's living in denial of what actually is 2steps further. secular humanism. people can lead happy lives without believing in God, ignorance is bliss.

I think it’s interesting that he says he’s against “the authority of monotheistic religions” yet says he defends the freedom for multiple religions to practice… does that not include the monotheistic ones? If Christianity were deemed illegal in the U.S., would he be for or against that? I’m also curious about how he said that Satanists don’t sacrifice babies but they support abortion? Does he not consider that a sacrifice? 🤔
Atheistic religion is an interesting concept all by itself.
TST is the most recent, most rational, most coherent form of it.

I feel like he didn't really answer any of the questions Sharzad asked! She asked if satanists are angry goth white men which is based on the stereotypes in the media and he danced around the question. Super painful to listen to extremely long winded people who don't actually answer the interview questions. Also, Satan is a fallen angel to my understanding so there are theistic roots to who/what satan is.

As much as I love the satanic temple, lucien seems to rarely answer a question directly in any of his interviews haha. I wonder if this is intentional, or not?
As far as I remember he’s a neuroscience graduate from Harvard and was one of the best in his class just to add to it. I think he just sees things in a much larger perspective than most, and therefore chooses to give these answers to get his points across

The only reason you follow a god is because you seek to live forever here on earth or in heaven. You're turning a blind eye to the damage Christianity has caused because you're afraid of dying and being alone. If your god did not give you life at the end of your time on earth you wouldn't follow him and you'd consider him an enemy for creating a being that must obey him or die forever. And for not stepping in and preventing his true religion from housing pedophiles and covering up murders as well as unjust killing of others and overall setback of human progress. You're nothing but a coward who follows blindly a creator that has betrayed and ignored us. You do not care about other's suffering caused by religion as long as it fixes it in the end, you've been betrayed and insulted by your creator and forced to love him still. The interviewer even said that she was not sure if Satan was a "bad word" or not.

I'm a Satanist. I raised two special needs children who suffered sexual and mental abuse from their mom. I was a Special Olympics Sailing Coach for 14 years and I have a life full of love for myself & others. I'm also a racist in recovery for over 4 decades now and have lived according to the 7 tenets of The Satanic Temple for decades before I learned of The Satanic Temple in my mid 60's. I not only give of my time to community service, I also share 25% of my earnings to charity. I stand for the rights of all people regardless faith or lack of faith. I do not believe in the supernatural and I'm not foolish enough to believe there is an actual Satan in actual reality. As a member of my American family, and my worldwide community I don't think I'm among the leaches on the moral fabric of our species. In what universe does a god creating a human out of supposed love and compassion and then purposefully give it trials that go against wishes placed by him, for example wanting to be like him because we're made in his image make sense? However for a mere forbidden fruit your god has taken offense and passed on the sin on to you as well even though you never commited it.
