Interesting line up there with the postal vans. There was very often a POS at the south end of Preston in the 70's and 80's no doubt waiting for the return working south.
Peter's Spares do replacement wheel sets for Lima stock, reasonable price and good quality.

The Tri-ang post office car is loosely based off an American smooth side post office van, possibly built for Australia.

Not a chance to get any more postal vans from the mainstream manufacturers, I've been on to Bachmann for over 20 years to produce a Mk1 BFK, composite sleeper and Griddle buffet car bot to no avail.

The SLC seems such an easy win for Bachmann

Evemodel and Roco wheels are more appropriate for lima bogies.

NEVER use lead free solder, as you found out it is CRAP. Lead free solder was developed primarily for bulk soldering in manufacturing processes. Home projects that we would do as modellers ALWAYS use LEADED solder. I can say this with some authority as I am an experienced electronics technician
