Great video, just got PC for Farm Sim and ATS, so probably not getting the side panel but want to get wheel. Can you do video on wheels? What works best? Where do you start?
The button box is really nice, i've had one since early last year which I mainly used for space/flight sims, it's great honestly, biggest downside would be that it feels extremely cheap.
I use this with PS4, & love it! I upgraded the steering knob to one for a riding mower. It's nice when planting to raise the planter & lower it with one button versus a combination of 2 buttons. It takes some time to get use to using it, but once you do, it's priceless in my book.
I use a G27 with pedals and shifter and For joysticks i use the Thrustmaster T.16000m Duo, these come with one stick for your right hand and the other for your left hand, and they are not too expensive either. They have plenty of buttons that you can map however you like. They work together really well wich is awsome for forestry. I also have a logitech controller for doing random stuff because i'm still used to consoles even though i prefer to play farmsim on pc. It takes some time to set up but the nice part is that you can use them all at once, there is no need to switch, unplug or anything. So mouse and keyboard, a controller, 2 joysticks, a steering wheel, a pedal box and shifter can all be used however you want. Great👌🏻
Disclaimer, I don't have the Heavy Equipment Panel, but something I thought of while watching this, was that the button assignment problem, is actually on Giants ends, because they did not predefine assignments in the game, not from Logitech's end. Keep up the great videos and I did enjoy the review.
Nice review. Here's a million dollar question for some of you "GIANTS Partner" folks. Will FS22 (out of the box) work with my Logitech G27 on day one? I came into this franchise mid-ways through FS15. On day one with both FS17 and FS19, many owners of the G27 had issues getting the game to recognize the controllers. These were corrected typically with the first patch release. But one would think that GIANTS would learn from past errors and ensure the newer version will work with some of the older controllers. Hopefully they have...but time will tell.
@@SchwabeAlmanium I actually found the setting. If you go to where you set the Mouse Sensitivity and press X on the keyboard, you get the option deadzone settings ☺️
I just bought a 45€ Joystick instead. It has 15 buttons, a hand throttle and allows simultaneous use of both axis at one third the cost of the heavy equipment panel
Great analysis! I appreciate it. And no funny noise buttons like what Dj has. lol. Keep up the strong work and I hope we hear about the best on the market soon (compared to the FS one). Another subscriber and member. Thanks for what you do (which is bring some sanity to the table).
I just ordered one last week and will be here soon so I am glad people have done so many reviews so I know what I am getting into. I have played Farm sim since the first one, but never go this as I was not sure how it would actually be.
I've had my side panel since FS15, and what I remember is that every single button was pre-programmed. If FS17, though, the defaults changed and some were not programmed. It was even worse in FS19 as I had to reset most buttons and unlearn my previous settings. I'll probably have to do this all over again with FS22.
I found that FS22 has a lot more options for button programming and I was a bit overwhelmed to be honest. But I guess it is just a matter of thinking it out more and it is a good thing.
I play FS on my gaming laptop as it’s hard to have a full blown PC since I’m a trucker. Do you know how well it will work with a laptop and no real place to clamp it down when In use?
So glad u reviewed this product I was gonna buy it to speed up logging and wheel loading but No diagonals 🤦🏻♂️ well That was the whole point of why I was gonna buy it👌 Great Honest review 10/10
It's actually perfectly possible to do two movements at once by pushing the joystick over diagonally. I'd suggest looking at some more reviews because Mr. Klutch Simulations actually gets a few things wrong on this one.
I remapped my button box on my sim racing rig to handle a ton of commands in FS19. This unit just takes up too much room for my setup. If space is not an option, I think it could be a more immersive experience. Great review, always wanted to hear a first hand account of the unit.

I notice even after messing with the dead zones that the axis has a wicked curve to it... like hardly moving to neck breaking head turning speed lol the cruise dial is okay, not as accurate as a $150 peripheral should be.. but overall it’s a game changer, complete emersion, will buy another one when I lose any more functionality lol As for the layouts, I used publisher and made a paper overlay, took about 15 min :)

Great review Klutch! I wanna see what your ultimate and a budget friendly setup would be for FS. I’m trying to come up with a great PC setup for 22, and can’t seem to figure anything out would love to see what your ideas are on this. Thanks
I own a wheel and the side panel. I agree with Klutch. For sure get a good wheel then the side panel. I also rely heavily on a stream deck. That can be a great though expensive option
Man that panel although I don't have it mounted to a desk works great on console no need to map the buttons and works right out of the box and 🤣the way I figure out which button does what I leave the control menu up on the left hand side of the screen. I have to agree with you on the buttons they could have did something better and used real buttons for the controls or some of the toggle switches. Because if this thing breaks down you would have to call or email the company to replace the whole entire panel just to fix one switch. When if you actually had normal toggable switches and round pushable buttons you could just go out to a hardware store or go online and order replacement buttons. Although I think that's what's most people did is they take the thing apart and solder in normal buttons, but most of us don't have soldering skills or very well soldering skills and just rather leave the way it is. Back to what each button does yeah there needs to be enough room for you to label or have a light up display saying what it's doing because most of the time I turn off the control panel menu and I only have the speedometer up and occasionally I forget which button does what or press the wrong button and go no no no no no, but luckily there is a button on the control panel that brings that control panel menu backup to see what controls do what. And the way I'm thinking of solving my cord issue since I am right-handed is to get some mountable cord hooks that will hide away the cord. And I almost forgot I believe mine was on sale so I got mine cheaper but the price is a fair decent price for what you're getting. Also I hope it does work on FS 22 console version because then I won't have to buy another one or something made from a third party.
Interesting, I just got a side panel last week (knowing it’s shortcomings) and all my buttons were mapped by default though I have change a few. I used the same labeling system you did, busted out the old label maker. I’ve loved it so far but you’re right, need a wheel first which I had already.
@@CorvettePlayz If you go to the menu (Esc), then down to the last option which is for key bindings (icon looks like 4 cursor keys). Once there, down at the bottom there is a button to click that switches from keyboard to gamepad (X I think is the keyboard shortcut), on that screen you can assign buttons. The game identifies the side panel generically as a gamepad.
I was considering this but ended up going with a Stream Deck and a cheap joystick and I'm glad I did (I didn't even realize those weren't toggle switches?!?!). You can get both for a similar price of the side panel and you get backlit buttons that can be labeled in software and the joystick works in all directions. Might be worth a video comparing similarly priced solutions?
Let me come clean your desk! 😂😂😂 good review klutch, hoping the panel gets an update in the near future. Would love to see some of the little issues fixed
I'm having an issue with the panel in FS22 where the camera stays slightly moving all the time, i just solved it turning off the camera movement bindings in the joystick
Hey Klutch, I have this panel alongside my G29 and the joystick on mine will do two things at once by using the diagonals. For example, I've never had an issue lowering a bucket and tipping it at the same time. Is this a new issue in FS22? Has yours always been this way?
I use a Logitech flight sim control as my multi function control stick for Farm Sim. It is similar to what you might see on an airbus commercial jet or a fighter jet. It works a treat for controlling combines wheel loaders and tractors but I still use a game pad to control my driving movement. Who knows maybe Ill buy a wheel soon.
Ha, I've used my flight stick a few times but I do find it's a bit big for what I need it for in Farm Sim. Was trying to find a way to incorporate the X52 throttle into my farm sim setup but think that might be just too much.
@@KlutchSimulations I tried using the logitech 3D advantage joystick for things like front loader control but it didn't work so well mainly because the base cannot be attached to a surface like a desktop. I'm wondering if this can be used on games like ETS2 or ATS to assign splitter functions for the gearbox?
Sun., Nov. 14, 2021 Good afternoon Mr. Klutch. Hope all is well in your neck o'the woods. You mentioned different wheels? I noticed the wheel in the video (I'm assuming that's yours?) is quite different than the one that comes in the bundle. To get the most authentic game play from the wheel, which one would you recommend? Which one are you using? Thank you Sir. Have a great day.
I use the logitech G29 which is a decent mid-range wheel. Farm Sim and other simulations type games it does a great job. We have more on this planned so stay tuned.
@@KlutchSimulations It would be great to know if there are any wheels that work for both Flight and Farming simulators? I've been playing Farming Simulator with keyboard/mouse, and before that XBox controller, for a long time, so I'm very comfortable with it. The only problem is that the steering looks jerky and wrong on screen because I tap the buttons while I'm driving. But I found Microsoft Flight Simulator very difficult to play on the keyboard. It would be great if I could find one wheel that works for both games.
Hey Klutch, thanks for making this. I do have a question about wheels. I have a wheel, but I find that I also need to have a controller hooked up for movement outside the vehicles. Is there a wheel out there that makes it so you don't have this issue? Thanks.
I have had 2 of these, and the steering wheel. All of them broke within 3-6 month of regular playing. THe steering wheel gets very glitchy and isn't usable. And the side panel joystick broke on me twice. I just isn't a high quality product for something now owned by Logitech and with such a high price tag.
The Joy stick is not the issue here in regards to multiple inputs on the x y axis. I use linux, and with jstest you can see that the joystick is able to register both directions together. It sounds like it is a software limitation of being able to take those inputs in at the same time.
Just watched the video thank you sir. Can this be used with the G920 in conjunction with ATS? Thinking I could program the buttons on the side panel to do the same work in ATS. Such as lights, beacons, cruise control etc. any thoughts?
If you don't need the joy stick on it then there are apparently plenty of options for 'side panels' One commenter mentioned using a 'streaming deck'(?)
I didn't see where he posted his layout for side panel. fs 19 had a decent system but idr all the controls and having issues finding the correct buttons to map. if he never posted his, would any of you post yours?
Been using it for FS since FS15, before Logitech bought it out. Can say it's been a sweet, immersive experience. Can't wait to see how it will work in 22!
What indicate ..or would justify, that this panel would not be working in FS22?!? ..it just seems so wrong on any parameters, if its suddenly doesn't work??
Sadly that side roller has a very very short life span at least in my experience. And starts double inputting fast. The click option on it also very often toggles the roll buttons since day 1. The rest of the buttons despite being really cheap feeling have always worked very well. I've had this for 5 years now and truth is yes, I have used it a lot in many sims and it does become useful BUT it definitely does not deserve the 200 bucks price mark. Being a simple button box that is really steep. There are simply better options on amazon for that unless you really really want that joystick in which case button boxes + joystick or flight joysticks with the same amount of buttons are slightly more expensive. Just thought I'd share my experience with this since I know it's expensive and this might not be for everyone.
Very fancy equipment without much use considering the price. You can do the same with two XBox controllers plugged in and that will cost even much less if you go for older controllers. But I'd suggest not to buy third party controllers as they sometimes need to install drivers, which is annoying. Rather XBOX controllers are always plug n play in Windows and you can use up to for of those without any problem. As you mentioned, if only there were some way to mark the buttons for easy identification...
I got the bundle because it was only £20 more. The wheel and pedals was given to my kids as I have a g27 wheel, pedals and gear shift. I use 2 Logitech Extreme 3d Pro's for forestry
Great review Klutch!!! I would love to see what you think would be the ultimate set up as well as a good budget friendly one would be for the next FS. I’m currently trying to come up with some ideas for something like this. Love to hear what your thoughts are on this thanks!
I bought the set a couple years ago only because it was on sale through Amazon. I was using it for farm sim and Ats . its nice to have all the programable buttons. After about 6 months the twist function stopped working. I contacted Logitech and was asked to destroy the panel and send proof and they would send me a new one. They didn't even want the old one back so I took it apart just to find out the wires for the joystick weren't actually soldered but shrink wrapped. Also the wires weren't quite long enough so every time I used the joy stick it was pulling on the wires. I sent pics of the panel ripped apart and put it back together soldering the wires and it worked perfectly. A month later I got a replacement, this time branded Logitech. I took it apart and guess what? same damn thing. the wires for the joystick aren't soldered but do seem to be slightly longer. I still use both and they do work but for the price I think they could have used better buttons.
To make one button a toggle, you'd lose two other buttons. Windows has a cap of 32 buttons per HID. Which is why you don't see crazy complicated button boxes for Windows games.
Thumbs up for Klutch to do some cable management! Do you have this controller already or are you going to be getting it?

It’s been two years but, I’m having trouble changing the buttons controls could anyone tell me how to do it on pc
@@pipedreamin thank you I’ll try that 👍
REALLY wish Logitech would make an updated version with much higher quality, like their racing wheels.
My desk is 2" think I could get it to fit at all?
What microphone do you use
I was considering this but ended up going with a Stream Deck and a cheap joystick and I'm glad I did (I didn't even realize those weren't toggle switches?!?!). You can get both for a similar price of the side panel and you get backlit buttons that can be labeled in software and the joystick works in all directions. Might be worth a video comparing similarly priced solutions?
Let me come clean your desk! 😂😂😂 good review klutch, hoping the panel gets an update in the near future. Would love to see some of the little issues fixed
Staples or Office Depot have label makers, perhaps Walmart. Hope this helps
I'm having an issue with the panel in FS22 where the camera stays slightly moving all the time, i just solved it turning off the camera movement bindings in the joystick
can the buttons be recapped to any keyboard function? I wanna use it for gts laspdfr mod and use it as a police car center console
Hey Klutch, I have this panel alongside my G29 and the joystick on mine will do two things at once by using the diagonals. For example, I've never had an issue lowering a bucket and tipping it at the same time. Is this a new issue in FS22? Has yours always been this way?
I can see this being a lot more useful for a game like ksp
Klutch :D Great cable managment :D
I use a Logitech flight sim control as my multi function control stick for Farm Sim. It is similar to what you might see on an airbus commercial jet or a fighter jet. It works a treat for controlling combines wheel loaders and tractors but I still use a game pad to control my driving movement. Who knows maybe Ill buy a wheel soon.
Ha, I've used my flight stick a few times but I do find it's a bit big for what I need it for in Farm Sim. Was trying to find a way to incorporate the X52 throttle into my farm sim setup but think that might be just too much.
@@KlutchSimulations yeah. A flight Sim control can be a bit big but it is accurate for combine harvesters in terms of size.
@@KlutchSimulations Thank you kindly Sir. Appreciate the quick response. Will be watching for the additional info. 😊
I only have 2 questions 1 does it work with windows 11 and does it work on Farming simulator 25
What size desk can it fit, anyone? 😊
Hey Klutch, thanks for making this. I do have a question about wheels. I have a wheel, but I find that I also need to have a controller hooked up for movement outside the vehicles. Is there a wheel out there that makes it so you don't have this issue? Thanks.
does the banana come with it?
Can you please post the description of what buttons you assigned like you said in the video it would be really helpful
Does this work with snowrunner game on xbox one?
How did u get it so u can lift and tilt the bucket
I have had 2 of these, and the steering wheel. All of them broke within 3-6 month of regular playing. THe steering wheel gets very glitchy and isn't usable. And the side panel joystick broke on me twice. I just isn't a high quality product for something now owned by Logitech and with such a high price tag.
The Joy stick is not the issue here in regards to multiple inputs on the x y axis. I use linux, and with jstest you can see that the joystick is able to register both directions together. It sounds like it is a software limitation of being able to take those inputs in at the same time.
Is there force feedback ? I can’t get the wheel to work
Ive got the panel but does anyone have a preset of all the controls that works fine bc i cant figure out a good layout for alle the controls
works great in iRacing and I also use it in Forza and rally games as the joystick works great as a E brake. Tho I plan on getting a second for FS22
were you able just to assign the buttons or did you need some software?
@@alfonsorodriguez9055 just assign the buttons no extra software
Just watched the video thank you sir. Can this be used with the G920 in conjunction with ATS? Thinking I could program the buttons on the side panel to do the same work in ATS. Such as lights, beacons, cruise control etc. any thoughts?
If you don't need the joy stick on it then there are apparently plenty of options for 'side panels' One commenter mentioned using a 'streaming deck'(?)
Will a thrustmaster setup work
Thanks for the review but I gotta ask what’s up with the banana randomly showing up throughout the video lol
I didn't see where he posted his layout for side panel. fs 19 had a decent system but idr all the controls and having issues finding the correct buttons to map. if he never posted his, would any of you post yours?
Mine won't show up like that in the settings, something wrong in steam with it
Been using it for FS since FS15, before Logitech bought it out. Can say it's been a sweet, immersive experience. Can't wait to see how it will work in 22!
What indicate ..or would justify, that this panel would not be working in FS22?!? ..it just seems so wrong on any parameters, if its suddenly doesn't work??
as a ps4 player it doesn't seem to make much sense to have the wheel or stick. when I get my pc build done hopefully ill look into this bundle
It dont come with that yeller nanner thar?
how can i unfold the arm with de panel
banana for scale, I see you're a man of culture too
Will it be able to work with later or earlier farm sim games
I got mine yesterday and the diaginol travel on the joystick moves the bucket and hight of the arm so I think that's something wrong with yours
Made in china
does the side panel its self work with a g29
Very fancy equipment without much use considering the price. You can do the same with two XBox controllers plugged in and that will cost even much less if you go for older controllers. But I'd suggest not to buy third party controllers as they sometimes need to install drivers, which is annoying. Rather XBOX controllers are always plug n play in Windows and you can use up to for of those without any problem.
As you mentioned, if only there were some way to mark the buttons for easy identification...
Dose it come with the banana?
I have my self this side panel but i love this banana for side comparasion
I dont understand it's not working for me I can only change camera and gears, I'm not able to control my front loader.
I can't find the video where DJ got it working on a Xbox.. anyone have a quick link???
I got the bundle because it was only £20 more. The wheel and pedals was given to my kids as I have a g27 wheel, pedals and gear shift. I use 2 Logitech Extreme 3d Pro's for forestry
I have the side panel, would be nice to see it ship with a few label ready overlay for the buttons.
Great review Klutch!!! I would love to see what you think would be the ultimate set up as well as a good budget friendly one would be for the next FS. I’m currently trying to come up with some ideas for something like this. Love to hear what your thoughts are on this thanks!
Hi klutzy that your setting for your wheel because I am having problems with my wheel on fs19
Love mine only thing is that mine has a shortcut or something because two functions collide and no its not the controlls had to remove them
Very cool review. Didnt even know this existed
I have had this since they first came out back in FS15. I enjoy it , but agree that it is cheaply made and could have been much better built.
I use this as part of my MSFS2020 setup - great addition IMHO.
So the joystick is 4 directional not 8 like we're used to since the Mega Drive (Genesis)
I was able to hit reset for the button assignments and it assigned all the buttons.
To make one button a toggle, you'd lose two other buttons. Windows has a cap of 32 buttons per HID. Which is why you don't see crazy complicated button boxes for Windows games.
