    At this point, I'm convinced the quest system is beyond saving - it's so convoluted, they would need an entire team of programmers dedicated to JUST that mess. IMO if an NPC is needed for multiple quests, the game should just spawn multiple instances of them in the appropriate locations. The only time I can see this being an issue still is when the trigger is just walking near them as opposed to talking to them. But I do like the treasure compass and teapot updates.

      I know Tencent wants to do what Mihoyo did or buy more shares in it. But Mihoyo is even less than 5% of Tencent. ​@@pronoun171

      Bro its not that they should hire new programmers, it was a game design they agreed on at first then built upon, it’s too complicated now that if they were to change that, they would basically have to re made the game from scratch, just to release it as an update, which they can’t.
      releasing a new game would be easier

      Exactly. You would need to take away a large majority of the programmers away from their normal work to fix something that management (probably) doesn't see as revenue generating. A project manager that takes programmers away from creating new characters/content (revenue generating) to QoL fixes ("the player base has dealt with it for years already and they're still playing") is probably going to fired really quick. Genshin players already complain about "dead/filler" patches that's light on content. Can you imagine if it lasted for 2 or 3 additional patches?
      Why not hire more programmers? Well, onboarding new programmers to a code base like Genshin would probably take 6 months minimum, which is again, non-revenue generating effort as far as the company is concerned. And what do you do with those programmers once they fix the quest system? Let them go? Have them fix other QoL issues that again, doesn't directly generate revenue? They can create more content, but that would increase the budget, which may or may not directly transfer to more revenue.
      Companies are not your friend and do not want to do what's best for you; they will do enough to get your time/money/etc, and usually not much more. You can decide if that's bad or good and whether to support them.

    There's two reasons they can't just have you talk to the NPC to choose which quest they're in.
    1. They can be in different locations for different quests.
    2. Mihoyo *insists* on using proximity triggers for starting dialogue on quests, to force you into quests you aren't interested in right now.

      If Katheryn (the guild person) can be in every city at the same time, why not other NPC's.

      @@regulatormachine2788 well, there is a lore reason for Katheryne. but i agree that npcs should be able to be in two places at once so these quest problems don't happen.

    I like the treasure compass upgrade. As someone who has tried to get all the chests in the game (and failed... LOL), it's nice to know where the chest is. For the remainder, I don't really care. I agree the quests would be nicer to fix.

    My number 1 request is for a resin reserve or cutting the resin costs in half (let's say for AR 60 players only). The last upgrades for 80 to 90 weapons, 80 to 90 characters, and 6 to 8 level talents is atrociously expensive. It takes a whole week to level talents from 6/6/6 to 8/8/8 if you're F2P. It takes 3 days to grind out all the bosses you need to get your level 6 ascension - that's not the gem BTW, just the boss materials. It takes 3 days of ley lines to get the mora you need to level your character from level 80 to level 90 - and like 5 days of ley lines (I may be wrong) to get the XP. Basically getting a new character in one patch means I can look forward to building them for the rest of the patch... well at least half the patch. But by then the Abyss I got them for has come and gone. Sorry, Yae Miko, time to bench you even though I just built you. :(
    I want to build all my characters to level 90 with level 8 talents, a level 90 weapon and decent level 20 5* artefacts, but frankly it takes years (two years and counting... probably my fault for having like 60 characters). Most of the fun in this game for me is to try out new characters and teams as I explore and run the Abyss. For example, I finally got and built Venti, and now I'm running around with a 4 archon team, and it's hilariously fun. But between that pull when I got Venti and now was weeks of building him. And of course I had to also build Furina, Zhongli, Raiden Shogun and Nahida - get them level 90 weapons, two of them I had to fish for, get them artefacts (I still don't have a deepwood set), ... you get the idea. My point is that this team, while super fun, took probably 2-3 months to build, which is just too long.
    At this point I basically don't really want new characters because it takes so long to build them. I'm pulling for Neuvillette right now but almost don't want to get him because he'll come with an obligation for 3 weeks to build.
    If I could cut the time in half, I'd have more time to use my characters instead of waiting weeks before I can even use them.

      Cutting resin for level 60 will never happen. You've already proven you're dedicated, so they know you'll grind even with the high resin costs.

      I thought I got lucky pulling multiple 5* in quick succession but it's been 5 months and I'm still trying to build hu tao, navia, raiden, xianyun and kazuha at the same time and it is torture.

      I understand the frustration but i feel like its good to actually have a grind aspect to the game instead of being immediately allowed to use a character as soon as they are released.
      For overworld, just try using said character (however weak it is) and pair them up with three strong supports. Although you can definitely notice the difference in numbers... i mean.. its the overworld, its not that much of a challenge.. so why not use an underlevelled character and slowly build the character to be stronger, thereby slowly seeing the improvements as well?
      The only issue with this is like you said, by the time it takes to build a character to be good enough for a specifically made spiral abyss for them, it might have ended already.
      But i agree the resin cap is in serious need of an increase. Its been years since the 120 > 160 increase

      I kinda prefer it like it is. I am full f2p for 2 y + now and I have built 45 chars to lv 90. all 5 stars and best 4 stars have crown or 2. the rest are lv 80. everyone have a set. I have prefarmed books to raise 2 chars to 90 and 20 mln mora.
      There is just nothing to do atm.... I have some spike of interest when I get a new char and I need a week to gather his mats. I have 50 condesed resin and aside from acidental coop I dont have anything to use it on..

      I would like howver to inreas the condesed resin to 20 or something so I can do artifact domains once per week

    I would like a resin amount increase so they can be properly fully refilled in 24 hrs. It's annoying that it takes less than 24 hrs to be fully refilled whereas in Star Rail, it does.
    I would also like domains to no longer be time gated by certain days for certain materials. Just make every material available to farm everyday so that I don't have to rely on condensed resin to save for that specific day.
    Another thing is making the first three bosses repeatable. While it is nice to fight all of them each week, you can only obtain the reward once. This makes farming boss materials taking a lot longer if you want to max out your characters. Upping the chance of dream solvent would be nice as well.
    All of these changes are similar to Star Rail because I like how straightforward and easy to farm in Star Rail.

      Unfortunatly it’s by design, so you have to log in twice a day for the resin, and you develop the gabit of playng twice a day

    Truly worthless changes for endgame players. New avatars are nice, but that's about it. They're yet again only addressing some niche new player problems without introducing any noteworthy endgame content like new gamemodes, event replayability, or the long-overdue resin update.

    The updates are two types: Adjustemens for Natlan, and changes Mihoyo does so it seems they are updating the game every patch, which is technically true but... not really useful.

    I have been locked out of the Fontaine archon quest since the section where you infiltrate the prison came out because a quest was triggered while I was running to the next part where I enter the prison then it wouldnt let me continue until I did that side quest. After an hour I was not only not done I was told to get 100 coupons in the prison and it didn't tell me how so I was so frustrated I quit playing for a few weeks. I came back and absolutely refuse to do tat side quest because a side quest thay was forced on me with no voice lines shouldn't be able to lock me out of archon quests. Luckily everything has already been spoiled for me by the internet and now I don't even care because the experience, immersion and story is ruined by bad quest design.

      @@vinny8589 I googled it about a month after I started playing again because I liked Furina and wanted to finish her story and after I read all the stuff I was supposed to do that it refused to tell me about it just made me annoyed and I quit playing another week. By then the end had already been ruined about Furina and the whale etc. Etc. And it's not worth the trouble of doing such a long annoying quest I didn't want to begin with to finish a story with no surprises anymore

      I hated that coupon quest. There weren’t enough clues to figure out what to do. I had to Google it. I avoid the Fortress now just because I had so many issues completing quests in that area. Definitely my least favorite area in the game.

    AFK Journey has a skip dialog button and when you press it you get to read a synopsis of the plot in a couple sentences. As someone who is rarely interested in character dialog in games this might be my favorite QoL feature in gaming.

      That is such an amazing QoL system. I’m not interested too much in reading long wordy dialogues. i just wanna get certain rewards at the end of a quest or event story. i’m not gonna be always invested to know an NPC’s story.
      the plot synopsis is a great way for people like us.

    They’ve done the treasure compass feature before actually in Veluriyam Mirage, except it wouldn’t tell us if it was above or under ground. I’m just surprised that it took them this long to implement it in Teyvat. I’m ngl though, I’m still gonna use video guides for chest hunting because I’m a dumdum when it comes to puzzles lol. I think it’s the best thing they’re updating so far though. Most people don’t care about the teapot because of the very small load. I even gave up on it after getting the level to 10, just cba trying to figure out how to decorate with such small load

    Software engineer here. I wouldn’t blame the devs; depending on how they’re set up, project managers (PMs) ultimately decide what is worked on and how it’s implemented. Most likely, the PMs didn’t want to allocate resources to allow for a “full fix” to some of these issues, and only approved some of these band aid fixes; developers don’t do anything unless it’s been approved by PMs. As for lingering issues that were fixed in HSR, for a game that’s been out as long as Genshin, the code must be bloated by this point and fixing “simple” stuff takes a lot longer than you would think because all the dependencies.

      @@migueltlg it’s not as simple as that unfortunately. Imagine taking a engine from a manufacturers car and swapping it with yours in the middle of a road trip. Technically it is possible but requires a ton of code to be re-written and there’s also no guarantee all the same features are available across engines. But the most important issue is the lack of revenue from effort. Why swap out the engine when the current one is making money hand over fist?

      it could be. my issue with the current treasure compass is the long cooldown (when it finds a chest).

    I was doing Lynette hangout event, and the blacksmith lady was gone. She's not "in" the quest, she's just in "the area" of quest. I don't usually finish quest in one sitting, but I always do my daily mining and the disappearance of that lady really annoyed me.

    We need map pin setting, one being able to add colour to the pins so that we can finally differentiate between same pins... Also, pin filters do u know how many times i have searched the whole map to find a single pin... If naming the pin is a option i would like to seach for the pins i named instead of searching an entire region
    Ofc these are just minor needs and completely just my opinion but its called quality of life for a reason...

      yes, colored pins would be nice.
      if they can’t do colored pins, i at least would like to have additional new pin icon designs. i’ve always wanted a treasure chest pin. or just any new pin options.

    It absolutely feels to me like they do the bare minimum for us to continue playing the game. What I don't know is whether it's maybe just an impression because HSR does all the right things. Maybe Genshin is like it always was but we simply know better stuff now and look back at Genshin like phew that sucks. There's a ton of things I never enjoyed in Genshin but all of a sudden really like doing in HSR, like farming stuff for instance.

    I think you just don’t get that we don’t want the changes you do. A skip button? Absolutely not. Never. Unacceptable. Co-op enhancements? Please no. They’ve already been making co-op mandatory for more and more events, and I hate it. I don’t play this game to do multiplayer.
    By all means, keep asking for what you want, but I pray the majority keeps drowning you out.

    I wouldn't put the blame on the developers themselves, they probably want to make the changes. It's likely a board decision to trickle in QoL changes under some misguided ideal that it will boost profits long term. it's usually always the board..

      ​@@HapPawhere Sorry, but it doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about. There are developers that get paid to do what they are told, and there is a group on a board running the company. It's usually comprised of high level executives, investors, and sometimes even mentors.

    I think their major resources are on the content team; they probably only have a small team like you've said working on QoL updates and everyone else is put on punching out content patches and events. It's crazy how much detail and effort go into small one time events but getting a QoL patch is like pulling teeth.
    On the flip side, I read the new quest system as you could turn it on and have NPCs targeted to that quest (essentially locking them out of previously started quests) so you could do a quest while already engaged in quests that use those NPCs. So at first I was excited; that's not a great fix, but it is a fix. If it's how you describe it's something genshin basically already has implemented in the even lazier warning screens. So this slider would literally accomplish nothing if all it does is prevent you from starting quests that use the same NPCs as another quest that has that slider on. They also noted it's only going to be for certain (likely major) quests, so it's even more baffling as a solution if that's the case.

    Yeah I agree that some of the updates are nice, like the tea pot will be a bit easier to manage now and I look forward to quickly and easily getting all the primogems there. But in terms of QoL that make the game overall better long term I'm not overly impressed with anything here. The co-op stuff is mostly pointless, color coding quests is literally pointless because they're already separated by type anyway, and the changes to the map aren't going to have any real impact on anything 99% of the time. Ultimately though Genshin makes too much money for them to care. Why add a resin reserve mechanic? People literally pay money for resin, why would they make it easier? When the game stops making them hundreds of millions of dollars every month they'll add better QoL stuff that the playerbase wants, but until then there's virtually no reason for them to do so. That's why all their QoL changes are just basic easy things to keep the community happy without making any changes to the core game itself.

    I wish they would make it so that co-op with friends was worthwhile. Imagine being able to play in your friends world and your friend always gets the majority of primogems/materials rewarded IF you have already done the content. If you haven't done that content then you both would be rewarded equally and you could progress your own world at the same time. WHAT A CONCEPT! I expect this change to occur, if ever, when Genshin is on its deathbed because the time and resources it would take would obviously be massive. It would be a last ditch effort on Mihoyo's part to maintain the playerbase it currently has. However, with the revenue generation that is gotcha once a gotcha game is on its deathbed typically companies resort to selling the farm for paytowin systems that generally only benefit whales or players who keep the servers running. So we will probably just see more top up bonuses throughout the year rather than just once a year.

    I was really hoping you would go more in depth on what improvemnents everyone has been asking for, maybe the dev's actually watich your very popular video's but don't get to see (or have time to go thru) all the 'thousands of responces' in the questionare's
    I think they could spend less time on all these silly 'event's' (lets pet a cat?) and do these improvements
    I would really like to hear what the comunity wants, and you seem to have a handle on what that is, so please tell us!

    Well this QoL only good for teapot, nobody uses treasure compass imo ( it take to long to get it and it's too late )

      Bruh better late than never. Honkai doesnt even have anything close to a compass except for topazs skill(which is not available for everyone)

    I think this is a business problem, they acquired an extensive amount of money before the game even came out, so they obviously have a board of investors that they have to go through. The investors, reasonably, want their money back and agreed that the plan from the start would do that, so changes only hinder their chances at recuperating their investments. However, Hoyo need to emphasize that the game is slowing down far more that they expected, and they will need to fight for themselves, and us, if they have any chances of success in the long run.

    I was able to 100% Sumeru and the archon quests and I've never done Tighnari or Niolu's story quests.

    This things about the story quest characters its not that big of a problem anymore. You can just claim the story and decide not to start it.

    Tbh the whole focused experience mode thing . I never understood how people even get locked out of quests.🤣 normally i just do the character story quest especially the ones that have GIANT labels on them saying, complete Archon quest number 3, part whatever. And i just go with the assumption of, if its an unlock requirement, its gonna be important somehow 🤷‍♂️

    Tbh they simply delay the many QOL because they know we will still play the game regardless. Once a real threat starts hampering their profits, they'll start implementing the QOL changes that many players wanted.

    My only issue with genshin that Star Rail has is the resin issue. having played both games thats the only thing Star Rail has over genshin. Star rail is sadly limited on its maps they are mostly corridor type maps unlike genshin where you can more freely explore.
    Some dont like the stamina system in genshin but that is part of the strategy of genshin
    I do like that star rail is a turn base as RT hack and slash arent exactly ideal for a phone base game

    One theory I’ve been playing around with is that Genshin has become had massive as it has BECAUSE of the many drawbacks that we technically don’t like. How climbing is a pain, how the resin system works. These things bring a sort of realness to the game play. If we could run up walls with ease, had infinite stamina, and could take our characters from zero to hero in a single day, that would be nothing like how things work irl. We complain about these things but we still love playing. Just like how we complain about things irl but choose to keep going. When building a strong character, you can almost never make them perfect bc of RNG. Any martial artist knows you can never completely master the art. It takes constant improvement and repetition. I think these things are what make Genshin so addictive and why sooo many people complain but keep playing.

    How do you get the Treasure compass? Or when can you craft it?

      You need to unlock the Reputation System in a region and then get enough points to get to one of the highest reputation levels. This unlocks a recipe for the compass that you can then craft at a blacksmith. Each region has its own compass, so you'll need to repeat this process for each region; Monstadt's compass won't work in Liyue.

    the quest system is exactly what made me quit doing archon quests in general. not to mention certain events that just get messed up because of characters being busy.
    so much promise of a game n its being wasted and squandered by inexperienced n terrible directors.

    The dev team is either just incompetent or the decision makers are completely detached from reality or doesn't give two shits. I've given up on them and just enjoy the game for what it is. Genshin is the new Pokemon.

    People need to understand that Thai isn’t enough ther are so many more things they can add per update they don’t add remember mihoyo is a rich game company with insane amounts of manpower they could easily produce multiple updates quickly. Hence people saying Genshin could never because they take so long to add simple shit

    Genshin is low-priority project to them at this point, and why wouldn't it be? It gives them lots of money at pretty stable rate and they can spend it for newer, shinier projects like ZZZ to get even more money. I'm honestly scared to think what will happen to the game when ZZZ comes out... Maybe they just have one development team that splits for different game and now another part went and dedicated themselves to ZZZ, who knows.

    Nice QoL, but useless for a veteran who has completed everything... HYV is blatantly focusing on pulling new players in to leech their money, rather than really improving the game or making content. The events in recent patches are just dismally... dumb? It's so simple, and takes a min each day to clear... So glad I've stopped spending any money since Sumeru released. Unfortunately, as long as there is a constant stream of noob casuals throwing money at Genshin, I dun see why HYV would change their strategy of milking them with dumb shit.

    On the contrary, I think ur being too nice, their QoL improvements are terrible. This is why this is a free game, you shouldn't be spending money on a company this lame. Its like paying for nothing. You shouldn't be spending more than $30 in a game like this, other games provide better experiences with that amount. Paying them more is just rewarding them for they laziness or even worst greed. Star Rail is also bad, its just that it gets compared to Genshin so it looks good. Genshin is just hideous. I'm not spending anymore on this games because of this.

      I think they're stuck with some core design choices that make many things harder. I have a whole rant on resin costs somewhere in this comment section, but I think the reason it will never be fixed is because the whole point of Genshin is that it's something log into every day, every week, every patch, every event, etc. So, if e.g., resin scarcity keeps me coming back every day, then Hoyo already has what it wants and there is no need to change it.

Genshin isn't going to die anytime soon but that doesn't mean they should just let it be in a rotten state where the X.0, X.1, X.2 are fun story and new area and everything else is a dead patch

      @@Praneeth_- I agree with your summary of the patches too: X.0, X.1 and X.2 are usually huge. Then we get some filler (or in the case of 4.5, basically nothing). We usually get something cool story wise and a new area in X.6, and the summer special event area in X.8.
      The cycle is predictable, but that make me wonder now as I write why X.3, X.4, X.5 and X.7 patches cannot have more QOL changes.

    QOL changes dont really matter tbh its just personal preference people get way too upset over the smallest things the treasure compass is a huge improvement other than that i dont really care too much but its like your personal preference how you play or want to play that people are mad when the game is fine for me i do agree they could change other things like the quests with npc issue but yeah.
