You are preaching Brother Glen - "You have never seen yourself, marriage helps you to see yourself." Marriage is a mirror and you pray for a partner that is gentle enough to bear with you, accept and love you even after they see how imperfect you are.

Yvette, you may not be teaching a classroom of young students right now, but know this: You are still a teacher. I believe God has enlarged your territory. You teach a world of people through your experiences. We appreciate your wisdom and surrender to the new assignment God called you into. You are necessary. ❤

I like that Yvette admitted that she needed someone that was outside of her bubble to help her.
Now when giving dating advice, advise folks similarly. Sometimes we want people who are just like us and check off all these boxes but, often it takes someone different and outside of our comfort zones to help us grow.

I do think it’s important to say that even if one is not married, if they are surrounded by a good community, it can have the same changing and evolving effects as marriage. 😊
Marriage is not the goal and not the only place someone can grow. You did say that but I feel like it needs to be said more clearly so that singles don’t feel like they can’t change and become a better person if they are not married.
Others in their life can play that role and especially the Lord.

Thank you for highlighting this. In being pro marriage, folks can run the risk of suggesting that the only opportunity for sanctification is marriage.

That’s it!!! To become more of who you are and less of the adaptive versions of yourself. My god, the sometimes annoying but astounding blessing it is to be loved so well that you are truly seen, treasured and challenged.. then you see yourself more clearly and grow like crazy. I’ve never heard it talked about before and I think it’s important you mentioned it!

This was such a beautifully timed episode for me to hear. As "iron sharpens iron", I feel like spouses as well as our children help God to forge us into the perfect vessel that He has designed us to be. It is like we are on the Potter's wheel being constantly molded and sheared into shape.

So just a whole lot of pausing and playing, yay mom life.🙂😬🙂 Rewatched it again tonight after work, while everyone in the house is sleeping. Glad I could better hear ya’ll without the busy bustle of the day and with calm silence of night.🥰🥰

Whew ‼️😮‍💨🔥 Y’all about to hate me for this one, you know I gotta keep coming with the Facts.
See, it’s NOT that people need to be in relationships to see themselves in order to evolve. It’s the people like y’all that need that because you personally lack growth as a “Single” person so much so that you NEED to be in a relationship in order to work on yourself & become a “Better” version of yourself.
See, people who actually work on themselves who aren’t in relationships don’t have the mentality of this, when it comes to evolving in life. We’re working on ourselves daily, we don’t lie to ourselves, & every experience we endure we see it for what it was & find the lesson in it & grow from it and actually do better.
See, it’s the people who are like me & everyone else that don’t feel “Relationships” are the only pathway to becoming a better version of ourselves. We understand thing’s on a deeper level & know that we come in this world alone & we’re going to leave alone.it doesn’t mean that we aren’t growing, it simply means we understand what god has us here for & understand that everything he brings in our life is for a reason ( To grow , to evolve , to learn lessons ) we take thing’s as they come & see it for what it is. We know that nobody is “Ours” & attachments are simply something a lot of ppl have a hard time breaking from. Especially when it’s an unhealthy one.
Let me break it down, although there are people out here who believe in marriage, just as well as ppl out here who don’t based on their own personal experiences , belief system , & how they see the world overall. We’re not here to live a way of what someone “Told” us what is the right way of living. The ultimate goal in life is to become the best version of yourself & no matter what road you take to get there, it is NOT your right or calling to put yourself in God’s shoes & telling ppl how to “Get There” no matter what you “THINK” how ppl should get there, it’s not for you to put a stamp on it & say your way is the only way.
God didn’t put us here to tell anyone what they need to do in order to get to the place he all wants us to be in. The ultimate goal in life is to see thing’s for what they are & come without judgment, understand that god works in different ways & that we are all born different for a reason. It is your job to fulfill the duty that god put you here for & within that go through life with an understanding of knowing that things come in different shapes, & sizes.
It is your job to simply admire the work & love it through & through because no matter what you view something he created to be & it appears different in your lens. Understand that it is always & will always be what god intended it to be. What you view something as never exist in the eyes of god. At the end of the day what I’m saying, stop putting the energy out here that there’s only one way to get somewhere in order to become the best version of yourself & understand that god created everyone different and that our roads may not be the same but we’re all headed to the same destination.
When you see someone in a different path of yours, it is not for you to judge or crucify the way they are getting there. It is for you to understand that god sees us all the same & until you learn to look with your heart & not with your eyes , to feel with your soul & not with the thing’s you perceive. You will then understand true unconditional love. & what it truly mean to not only walk in the purpose god put you here for in order to become the best version of yourself, but to never think that someone isn’t on the same mission as you simply because of what something you perceived to be that didn’t fit your ideal image of what “Getting There” looks like. 🥷

A guy from my hometown moved to the same area I did and I thought I saw him one day. So I made my friend stop the car and I jumped out and ran up to him and said “Hey! (Insert guy’s name)” and then realized it wasn’t him. I was already there and he wasn’t looking at me to crazy so I just committed to the conversation and whoever he was played along. So I said I’ll talk to you later, got back in my friend’s car and was like “yeah, that wasn’t him 😂” and we cracked all the way up. Then a few weeks ago at church I thought I saw a friend (new church) and I went up to her and she said “do you need something?” And I told her she looked just like someone I knew and she said “yeah, no 🫤” so I should probably just stop talking to people or stay inside from now on 😂

I'll be honest: I don't think (in this case) it was reverse racism. I have legit mistaken other Black folk for people I know (also Black). If someone changes up their appearance and I don't engage with them regularly I'm subject to mistake them for somebody else. HOWEVER, it would be bad if you were like, "Oh well you know yall all look like." 🙃

    • @jssberry
      @jssberry Рік тому

I will say that Christ is the One who ultimately completes us--especially as someone who's single I have to remember that daily. I have to submit to Him and allow Him to shape me into His image, killing my flesh, ERRYDAY. But when I look at marriage, God brings together two people who are able to compliment each other and help each other in that way, yet He is still transforming them into His image. And I think any healthy relationship will do that as well (my friends who know God challenge me, the woman who disciples me as well as the ladies under her challenge me, my church family challenges me, etc.)
I just wanted to note that because essentially I think yall said that, but sometimes single people really think they'll be more "complete" by this other person when in actuality it's Jesus who makes us complete and whole. And if we seek a person (or even a job, title, position, etc.) to complete us, then we end up making an idol out of it. We think we won't be complete or whole until we have that thing or person in our lives.
