Another sick old school song. Geto Boys changed the game for sure. That picture on the album cover is Buskwick Bill(the dwarf) and his girlfriend at the time shot him in the eye. That's the picture of him in the hospital. Lol. Talk about hard-core! Banger bro. Much love
Geto Boys. All 3 of them had good solo careers and albums, songs, videos. . Willie D, Scarface, Bushwick Bill. Big Mike, too! He was with them for a few albums.
Old school Southern hip hop, Texas Rap. This was a big hit in the early '90s. They are from H-Town (Houston), which is rough city in the south. Scarface is the 2Pac of the south, great rapper and story teller. Many of the rappers in the south and Texas back then sounded like country bumpkin boys/girls and cowboys/cowgirls rapping lol! It's their accent, slow southern drawl and country slang in their songs (playa hata, yall, playa, trill, b's , slab, flossin, lean, throwed, 3rd coast, grip, drip, fixin to, jump out boys, The Nickle, The wards, etc. The background music is an older bluesy funk song. An Isaac Hayes song. Lots of older Southern and Texas hip hop rappers used funk , blues rock, etc in their background music. Well, because, blues, jazz and funk came from the south so they grew hearing it from their elders lol. Makes sense. Check out "Straight Gangersteism" and "A Minute to Pray & A Second to Die" videos from Getto Boys next! And "Mind of a Lunatic" and "Trigga Happy N**ga". Many of their songs are hardcore, graphic but has some humor into it too. Other groups from H-Town like them are UGK, Street Military, 5th Ward Boyz, DJ Screw, K-Rino, Paul Wall, Rap-A-Lot artists, Gangsta NIP, Lil Troy, Lil Keke, Z-Ro, etc.
Lil Troy is my favorite. Anytime I’m in downtown I hear it coming from either the bars or the cars driving by. Why yes Lil Troy, I do wanna be a baller and shot caller. H-Town represents.
Iconic song sample by the late legendary Isaac Hayes "Hung up on my baby" he also composed produced wrote the iconic the original 1971 movie soundtrack "Shaft" the late actor Richard Roundtree who played the original character "Shaft" who recently passed away was groundbreaking for black cinema. In those days What they used to called "Blackexplotation" era in the 70s. But isaac hayes is musician composer writer producer. They used to called isaac black moses his music is that good like Curtis Mayfield. These guys has been sampled from so many rappers like Public Enemy....etc. do you do reactions beside rap music?
I remember being 10 yrs old when this came out and thinking these are the coolest guys ever. Learned the words quickly to all the verses, censored and uncensored version. We Can't Be Stopped is a great album. My favorite album by GB is The Resurrection in 1996. Those 5th Ward Boys is that group you want more of. Face solo albums are on point, too. Mr. Mr. Scarface come walking down the block/ out jumps a fiend and steals all his rocks
Storytelling Hip Hop is an art. Hip hop had so many great storytellers, that’s one of the reasons why hip hop is so relatable. Any one can listen and feel like this was written for me by someone who understands me.
I grew up in SW Houston about 3 miles from South Park Village, Scarface's stomping grounds. I was six when this album dropped. This song is on our Mt Rushmore here in Texas.
Great group. Another that's never left my playlists. Glad that you got to them. Their music was so raw, with nothing held back. Probably best known for the title track to the movie Chucky, and the song of the same name is a good one, but I'd personally recommend "6ft Deep". A bit slower, but so real you can feel the words. It's is definitely worth checking out.
The first two verses are two different rappers. 1st verse is Scarface, 2nd verse is Willie D. Houston Represent There is another must have geto boys track = Damn it feels good to be a gansta.
Honestly you should do a full album reaction on this one. We Can’t Be Stopped is 🤌🔥🤌 Also MC Search’s story about hanging out with Bushwick Bill is on UA-cam and it’s a hip hop fan MUST listen. It’s almost a hour of pure entertainment. RIP Bushwick you magnificent human
City Under Seige by Geto Boys will knock you out of your socks. Also, make sure to check out Naughty by Nature - Ghetto Bastard(Everything os going be alright)
Sick!!! Glad you listened to this. Mind of a lunatic and assassin are great songs. Also bring it on is another classic. Geto boys are another great old school rap group.
That one was everywhere, you could listen to it all day long switching channels 😁 À true masterpiece Suggestion : PARIS - Break the grip of shame - Escape from Babylon for starters 👌
"Mind's playing tricks on me" samples Issac Hayes' track "Hung up on my baby". Issac Hayes record label was Stax Records. One of the classics of early '90s HipHop!!
A lot of hard truth in this jam. A bad life takes it's toll mentally, physically, and spiritually. We reap what we sow, but every day is a new chance to turn it around and try to do better. Great track by the Ghetto Boys for sure. 💯🔥🔥🔥
It's so odd hearing that you didn't know who Geto Boys are. They are so OG and were so popular. I guess cause I'm 50 y/o I just take it for granted everyone knows them. Excellent react like always
YEHHHHH!!! Mr Scarface!!!!!!! You GOTTA check out I seen a man die off his The Diary album… that whole album straight fire!!!! That song My Block is the shit too!!!!!!! Like Ric Flair up in this mofo right now WOOOOOOOO
It's about Bush Wick Bill and his struggle with Mental illness. God Rest His Soul and Much ❤❤❤to the Ghetto Boys and their contribution to the RAP Game.
This song was new to me. I only know their first album. But the last time that i have heard it is more than 25 years ago. When i watched your video the first thing that i had in my mind was the story of bushwick bill. Even here in germany i 've heard about it.

Before i listen you should have started with "Assassins" by Ghetto Boys. Im gonna have to start categorizing so you can hear the evolution of these groups. ok lets go
Wow, this brings me back.. Four teenage white boys from nowhere Nebraska rolling up and down the strip bopping to Bushwick and thinking we were all that! Lol
Bushwick Bill (verse 4) is on some shit! Super ill story teller. Check out his track "Ever So Clear".. its a very vivid story of how he lost one of his eyes. Crazy story.
There are videos of psychologists analyzing this video and giving a detailed explanation for the story told. There are 3 different stories in this song
Your name being STAX and I literally just wanted the HBO documentary on STAX RECORDS and this song was sampled from Isaac Hayes one of STAX biggest artist lol
This song isn't just about people doing bad ****, it's about dealing with mental health issues, which is still one of the biggest taboo topics in hip-hop culture. Even today, too many still suffer in silence, die tragically from drug overdoses, or put themselves in situations in where they lose their lives doing stupid ****. This song opened the door for hip hop heads to truly talk about dealing with mental health. Scarface is a manic depressive in real life, Bushwick Bill suffered from suicidal ideation, which they used on their album cover (when he shot himself in the eye after a suicide attempt) and Willie D suffered from anxiety. So this song hits different because it was written from a real life point of view.
Each rapper had a different story; the first one had a mental problem, the second one live by the sword and was afraid of his payback; the third one was a decent dude but sold drugs and was paranoid because of it and the last one, Bushwick bill, was a drug user; hence; My Mind is Playing Tricks On Me; also Bushwick Bill actually shot his eye out

'Bout time somebody reacted to some Geto Boys . Stax , l wouldn't steer ya wrong , you also gotta ✔ out 'Gangster Of Love' , 'Homie Don't Play That' , 'I'm Not A Gentleman' , 'Geto Boys & Girls' (Face plays guitar on this track) , 'Still' (a HARD one) , 'Geto Fantasy' , and last but not least , 'Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster' (not the 'clean' version , it loses something) by the GB's - fair warning : you WILL be entering the hard zone on a few of these picks🤘
A lot of people miss the point of this song. In the title it tells them each story you hear the rappers conveying at the beginning wasnt real, and the conclusion of each verse has what each rappers really sees at the end. That their minds was playing tricks on them. Paranoia, drug use and mental illness was apart of each verse which ended with the last rapper who thought he was with his boys punching as big ass buster but he was punching the concrete. Paranoia and drugs made him think that he was in one scenario but reality showed at the end where he was at.
I am from Houston, this is our jam!!
So fireeeee😊
Another sick old school song. Geto Boys changed the game for sure. That picture on the album cover is Buskwick Bill(the dwarf) and his girlfriend at the time shot him in the eye. That's the picture of him in the hospital. Lol. Talk about hard-core!

I'm still surprised that "Crooked Officer" hasn't been wiped from the planet. Awesome song, but I bet it brought a lot of haters!
Yeah. 6 feet deep is my favorite from them. 👍
Scarface....my man! His solo album the Diary is well worth a listen. It was written to tell a story, beginning to end.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
Oh boy, is it! The Diary is back to back bangers!
Willie D's first solo album was epic as well. Unapologetic and political. NO tracks got any main stream play, "Rodney K" especially! lol
Scarface, Willie D, Bushwick Bill, and Big Mike all had great solo careers.
Hip-Hop classic. A perfect song, from beginning to end. This is the best of us.

This is a powerful song. Probably one of the best rap songs of all time. A great story of paranoia. And that last verse from Bushwick Bill is deep.
It’s so fire
this song is about schizophrenia
The other OG's glorified everything. Geto Boys were more like gangster poets dealing w/ real stress. Hard stories, dough, not glory.
