How to Shingle a Treehouse Roof (with no nails)

- I've been wanting to finished up my kids' treehouse roof, by installing roofing shingle. But there are some unique problems with installing the shingles onto the roof. Including using roofing nails. So I used construction sealant/adhesive to fasten the shingle to the roof. I'll show you how I did it.
So glad I found your video! I needed something for the 4x4 roof, of a generator shed, I just built, and was tossing around some ideas. I did not want to spend very much. As fortune would have it, someone decided to dispose of a pile of leftover asphalt shingles, on the side of the road, today. That is a terrible thing to do. I knew they would not stay there long, before the county cleaned it up, so I picked up enough to do my little job.
The plywood I used for the shed, is from a shipping crate. It's not very thick, less than .5 in, and I was worried about the nail points, poking through. I checked my local Home Depot, and they sell the same product you used. I will follow your instructions, and I hope it turns out a well as yours did! Thx again.
Building my pooch a dog house with A/C for her daytime roaming in the yard while I’m at work. This helped significantly. I can’t trust her to be good and not destroy my home if I’m not there! So now her dog house has insulation with a window A/C and a doggie door.
Thanks for the video. I have exactly the same problem with my daughters play house.
Roofing shingle staples start at 3/16" deep...
Coukda stapled it...less work...fast install
Could any staple gun work or what would you recommend using that is best?
@@mony19831 air is best
I dont think I'll last long without nails
@@MrAstronauta23 staples have been used on shigle roofs for over 75 years bud... AND they now have apoxy/resin/tar varients so not only do they last.... But water sealing as well
Thnx! I needed this for a dog house im making
That is an awesome treehouse! I made my pooch a 1 sheet plywood dog house and i have some extra shingles so I want to shingle poochies house.
Rather than nailing u should maybe consider a staple gun an 1/2" staples. My roofing nails are a tad long and may barely poke through so i may use em or use 1/2 staples since my plywood is 1/4"
so how does the adhesive adhere to the algae on the wood?
It's doesn't 😂
You know you can buy 3/4 coil nails for an Airgun, used it on gazebo about 15 years ago, still working great
How did the adhesive hold up after 5 years? Did the shingles come off in high winds? THANKS... my problem is the black tar like tube (use caulk gun) tends to not grip very well and comes off too easily.
+john Doe the adhesive is doing fine. Haven't lost any shingle. But the tree house is in a slightly sheltered area and it doesn't get much wind.
I am going to try this on my chicken coop
When did you do this ... did the adhesive hold? Thinking about doing this on a chicken coop.
Yes, still holding just fine
Could have just added a piece of plywood then put the roofing nails in
GReat video THUMBS UP
Where did you get the shingles
Lol any home store😂😂😂
My husband uses these plans from Woodglut and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!
Stodoys has very good and accurate plans.
