Wooahhhh Dutch finally understood what Arthur meant. That's why I think RD3 is gonna be another prequel maybe when Hosea is like 18 the main character would meet him as a side character. Because by Jack's day the 1910's the wild West is nearly gone, it's just a few years from peaky blinders/WW1 era. So the themes of the disappearance of the wild west would have more impacting another prequel I think, probably leading into the rescuing of Arthur and John by young Dutch and Hosea at the end by the main character who probably dies again and is unmentioned directly in RDR2/1 like with Arthur in the prequel to RDR1.

His Tahiti gimmick was when he was a utopist and maybe really did think there'd be an end to the fight, a happy ending at that. Again, delusional. I think by 1911 he was purely motivated by spite and anger at the government, really just blaming them for what he's done. Not to mention he's far more unhinged by this point. But in the end he realized his motivations were just stories he told himself to justify his constant rebelling and outlaw lifestyle. That's just who he is, unfortunately he was charismatic and delusional enough to get a lot of other people killed in the wake of his ego.

That's the voice of a man who's truly been worn thin by life. Just tired of constantly fighting and running. He knows he's done. He knows he's lost everything. Only thing left to do is go out on his own terms. Absolutely Grade A voice acting.

Just beat the epilogue to RDR2 for the first time last night. Especially that part where Dutch says "we gotta stop meeting like this" and "I got a plan' 'you always got a plan'" exchange means so much after Arthur's story and all the "one more" heists that basically make up most the 3 acts of the story.

After playing both games, Dutch never seemed to be the villain. After Hosea was killed Micah became the bishop always whispering in Dutch's ear, and Dutch was overcome with grief with all the losses. He didn't become evil. He became heartbroken, betrayed. And in his last moments he understood what he had become, and knew that after all of that Arthur was right. His decision to shoot Micah was because Dutch realized what Micah was doing when Arthur passed, the way he was speechless and stepped away from the two on Arthur's dying moments. He wasn't the villain of the story. He just lost his way.
In that moment dutch wasnt on that mountain with john that moment, he was being held at gunpoint by the army, with arthur by his side. Reciting the same words he said in that moment before falling off that cliff. One moment he was in a flowing river, and then another hes falling to his death. He was reliving a memory, he was remembering Arthur, and also quoted him "our time has pretty much passed". Probably the greatest, yet most tragic villain i've ever seen. He always had a plan, but lost direction of it

Dutch on the other hand fell down,driven by madness and grief, he fell down by trusting micah and became insane and mentally unstable with himself,so he fell in the worst way possible because he drove off the right path
