  • Here is another two part video using a coticule to hone a straight razor. I go over the process of testing the bevel with a styrofoam packing peanut. I hope to help others when honing their own razors and that you enjoy.
    Thank you for watching.

Great honing video Robert! I totally agree with the way you test on the packing peanut!! You brought up some really good points. It’s hard to beat a good stone that works for you no matter what the size!

Thank you kindly. I was surprised with it. I was looking at it being a slurry stone. But I wanted to test it and I was blown away at how it cut.
      Thanks again Rob.

Nice session and talk, I have a place in my heart for small stones. As you know I travel for work and I have had a slew of small stones. They can sure be challenging and fun. They helped me develop my stroke. Those small coticules can pack a big punch. Nice work.

Learning to get the most out of your stone and stroke is born out of necessity with small ones.
This one defiantly holds it's own.
      Thanks again.

Love the commentary, good info. I use Camellia oil on my arks after reaching for it once because honing oil wasn't at hand. Never tried it on a coti, interesting.
    Thanks for your videos.

It doesn't take a big stone to sharpen a razor. Good job, Friend.

Is that one of those multi form Coti? I’ve been looking at a few of those and those rounded out ones that are different sizes. I’ve noticed a few of them look like really good Coti from the color and any other markers on them.

I am not sure. I got it from ebay with no info on it. The stone looks pretty consistent. I even tried the other side and it hones the same. I am not sure if it came across on video, but it is skin tone, more than any of my other stones.
My guess is that is was from a larger one that was glued to a bbw, and some one smoothed out the break. So I just got it with the intent of using it as a slurry stone. I am pretty stoked that it turned out to be a winner.
Thanks again John. Take care buddy.
