Elvis was so many things together. So many combinations. Unlike any artist in history ,his amazing voice and charisma. No wonder he was voted the number one entertainment artist in the world in the 20th century and a singer who sold over a billion records worldwide, more than any singer or band in history.

By the way Polk salad is a real delicacy in the south, also Elvis loved to play around with his audience and through his movement's on stage would command his band. When he put the Mic in his mouth he was just playing around with the feedback. You got to remember Elvis came out in 1956 at the age of 21 and almost every song he performed was a hit.

You must see Suspicious Minds 1970. Best Entertainer of all time. He went in Army for 2 years. I could tell you ALOT of things about Elvis.i have listened to him since 1956 n saw him in 1973 Hawaii. I give all of his songs 100,000 % Elvis put ALOT of energy in this song so he was exhausted n could not get all the repeated words out.You Try It. Elvis also got 3 Emmy Awards for gospel songs. He received the president metal of Honor which is the highest award a civilian can receive. Many, many entertainers said if there was not Elvis they would never had made it. He sang over 700 songs n sold out all his concerts n sold over 1 billion records

      @Vllencia Рік тому

No I am pretty sure it was not from a female in the crowd. Unless you were part of his teams and that is what he had told you. But it seems instead it was just a note he took out from his belt to remind him of the next lines (maybe he expected he might forget those lines in particular, and so he brought a reminder).

With Elvis it was more of the ‘moves’ than dancing...nothing like the overdone exaggerated routine so call dance moves like the newer performers do...god, it’s like they are at a drill camp...you know sometimes less is more...Elvis was way too cool for those exaggerated dance moves.

    Hello from England
The day Elvis died was 2 days before my 12th birthday being a FAN for 44 years OMG
ELVIS was and still is MY HERO. Strong word but its true. I cannot say anyone before, during or since i would put such a strong word to. The music and entertainment world of the last 35 + years LEAVES ME COLD.
I love every song he sang. They are ALL my FAVOURITES and there are many songs. But this one is towards the top.
We are so blessed that now we can look at media like UA-cam and people like you who post "stuff"
I "found" SPA GUY" channel on the candlelight vigil on the 15th August and since i have been trying to catch up with his videos. I have learnt a lot.
    Something you may not know
Colonel Tom Parker was born in Holland 26th June
    Vernon Presley died 26th June
Elvis did his last concert 26th June
    !!!!!!

The more you get into Elvis you'll learn he was a comedian in his act at appropriate times regarding some songs. One of his biggest hits was a lovely touching love song ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT, once one time in the studio he was in a particularly mischievous mood and changed the lyrics to "Do you look at your bald head and wish you had hair... He really was Mr entertainer and gave 100% in the studio and on stage. RIP fella you are loved x

Elvis never claimed to be a dancer and always said he just naturally moved to the music. However, there are videos of him live doing some amazing sideways moonwalk type moves and his movie dance scenes, from jailhouse tock and viva Las Vegas especially, are pretty cool.

He conducted his band with his movements. He told you it is a weed in the south much like a turnip green, the leaves are boiled, rinsed then cooked in bacon fat or lard, and sometimes onion and egg are added to it. You should never eat the Pokeweed raw it is poisonous and belongs to the nightshade family. Elvis did more on stage then just sing, he entertained.

This performance is part of a documentary film called “Elvis: That’s The Way It Is” (1970)
It covers his rehearsals for his 1970 engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. I highly recommend you stream it, it’s an amazing film to watch.
The part where he’s reading from a piece of paper is because he kept forgetting a few lines for “Polk Salad Annie” which is explained earlier in the film during rehearsals.

2:24 American singer and actor Elvis Presley served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. At the time of his enlistment, he was widely regarded as the most well-known name in the world of entertainment....During his service, Presley's life was affected in many ways. Not long before he was transferred to West Germany, his mother, Gladys Presley died of a heart attack brought on by acute hepatitis and cirrhosis at the age of 46. While he was living in Bad Nauheim, he met his future wife, Priscilla Beaulieu. He also became reliant on barbiturates and stimulants. Due to this unhealthy addiction, Presley and Beaulieu divorced in 1973. This same addiction partially contributed to his death at the age of 42 in 1977

I find what the lass says interesting. Ie Elvis hearing the beat and getting his timing absolutely `bang on.` There is a film ( made, I think in about 1984 ) conserning the life of Mozart - called Amadeus. In it Mozart will notice even the tiniest of `none timing.`
In the early 1960`s, of course, Elvis made a film with Ann - Margret ( I think it was Viva las Vegas ) when Ann ( a Professionally trained Dancer ) did a `duet` with Elvis, "Come on Everybody..." At the final drum roll in that song Elvis hits the timing right on its head, whilst Ann is a little late.
As for the song, there`s a rarer version of Polk Salad Annie available here in YT * Elvis - Polk Salad Annie ( One of the most charismatic...)* where he himself questions the concept, reckoning it makes no sense. The quality of the film in that video is a shame, because he was brilliant in singing that song then.
Polk salad is, I understand, a real root vegetable.

That’s why he was loved. He was spontaneous. This was a fun song and he was having a good time. He enjoyed getting the bands and audience reaction to his uncontrollable humor. People call his moves dancing but it was a response to the music. His band followed his moves and he lead them by his body moves but they never knew when he was going to do certain moves. In Vegas he did two shows a night for 5 weeks without a day off. He wanted his shows to be fresh and gave his fans a special experience.

the problem w-this is that many, many reactors do not understood just what Poke Sallet (correct spelling here) is & that it comes from the poisonous Pokeweed plant which can be eaten when picked in springtime; most people from the northern or eastern parts of the U.S. aren't familiar w-it & just won't get it

Thank you for your reaction but 1. Poke Sallet is a weed from the poisonous Pokeweed family - can be eaten if picked @ right time in spring; 2. Hut 2-3-4 is marching cadence from his days in the Army. 3. You really should stop talking over Elvis while he's performing -- you're cutting into the little things he says & does & you're missing things by going over him & it is disruptive.
