Hey Jebus! Glad to see you enjoyed the server a bit! The funny thing is, your experience very much mirrored mine. Coming from ECW, it was a big learning curve for me. If you ever need a primer through it, feel free to give us a shout in Blucord or on the SPS server and we can run you through the ins and outs of it.
Yeah it was looked into but there's no way as of now install the missiles onto the jet and have them actually track with the radar. You can still do some insane tricks with the 16 and the Fox 2's that it has. You can easily beat Fox 1's BVR and score a kill at 20+ miles if you play your cards right.
Omg my thoughts exactly! I wish they added sparrows to it (there are plenty of unrealistic things in DCS, they could do that too, you don't have to use it if you don't want to). I even tried the hornet to check out the sparrows, but I can't get used to it's switchology and flight model, so went back to my viper
@@weles1989 You don't. You uncage the missile and shoot it in their direction as long as they're nose hot and let them fly into it. I do it at high and medium altitude all the time. If they're going fast in a straight line you don't even lock them or turn your radar on. Lock them with the datalink if you have that option and sling a Fox2 straight at them and then dive and do a 180 and go exactly the opposite direction you were heading and they will continue at their altitude knowing you didn't get a missile off because your radar wasn't on and if you did get a radar missile off it's either now dead (fox1) or they would have gotten the rwr from the missile (fox3) and since they didn't, they will just full burn right into your Fox2. You want to trick the enemy into feeling safe because they will get too confident and it will kill them. I pull this crap on people all the time and get called a cheater and I love it. It takes practice so just keep at it and you'll start to be feared.
I joined the server today, I took a MiG-29S and got surprised instantly. This thing had HARMs on it right away. I added R73, R27 and a bag. After downing a F-18 a nice lady told me that I had just 1500kg fuel left. To loose weight I fired of the HARMs...and got -6 Creds for hitting friendly :-D. Those things work.
Honestly my favourite server atm. Blueflag is good but the process to switch teams is tedious and doesnt work half the time. Additionally I find Contention SRS to be more lively, far easier to get some backup while trying to launch HARM's at radar positions and players who actually ptfo. It's Awesome.

A bit more relaxed in general. You're not side locked for one. I also can't remember but doesn't blue flag have limited lives? No restrictions like that on contention.
I have seen the server in the lobbs several times now, but it very often blue overflowed. Is there a mechanic that AI airplanes try to balance the imbalance?
Don't know all the details but there are definitely ground units that players can deploy. I know my wingman was hunting Abrams at one point. Not sure about depots or such, but I'm still learning the server myself
There is an absolute ton of variety in A2G combat. CTLD is in, as is Forward Air Control airframes that can provide artillery strike direction. There are depots, farps, control points, factories. It's pretty much got it all.
Oh. Yeah….glad to see I wasn’t the only one who disliked the weird “mission” setup they went to. However, I’m NOT glad that they have chosen to stick with it. I understand experimenting or improving through trial…but sometimes it seems like servers break things that were just fine. Not sure what was wrong with the dynamic set up. I DO wish Tenprest and Enogma had a wider variety of ground targets to strike that - in some way- impacted the amount of units deployed to a zone OR the value if those units going to calculate a “push”. I get tired of bombing the same old building (representing a depot) and clumps of ground units on enigma.
OBS. I used to use shadow play when starting out but the audio kept desyncing on longer videos. Also very easy in OBS to record different audio sources to different tracks for ease of editing (such as removing the discord chat from this one)
Also been reported to me by someone else. Sorry, I thought it was an issue in the editor but looks like it was an issue in the actual recording. Will aim to fix for future videos
Server is a lag fest. I can play on any other server with 50+ players on any map and get 60+ fps in VR. Takes me 5 minutes just to slot in this server and get a cool 10 FPS. It's just arcady missile spam. Like warthunder but with tedious startup procedures.
Helicopter play is horrible (unless you're a masochist), but that is partly DCS core game fault with magic radars and missiles. Or maybe it is just Kiowa...who knows. jtac/operator sees everything. In 2 hours, no-one on discord voice channel...no GCI, nothing. My experience is meh at best. Interesting strategic/tactical ruleset but fun factor is somehow lacking
I've been having an absolute blast with the hip myself. So much fun. But yeah, you are vulnerable and need cap but that's true for every server with jets and helis

If you bind uncage for the aim 9 you won’t have to keep the hud on the plane once you get tone

You can also join with a Viggen if i am not wrong :D. Maybe the F-16 isnt for your with all the buttons and displays :D

Can you salvo a bunch of Mavericks and either saturate the SAM or just make it waste a bunch of missiles?
If you're quick you can launch several mavericks. Even better if you have more than one plane coming in at different angles to do a saturation attack

Contention is great! They’ve since updated to have more strike targets too. Not the best server to learn new modules in tho 😂

Its so fucking heavy server, just eats my 32gb of ram, and i get 10 fps in flight, with the strike eagle. Any tips to improve?
Upgrading to 64Gb helped me a lot with getting decent frames on ECW, which has similar numbers of ground units. Busy servers are so RAM intensive
Disable tacview also helps
