wife and I are currently on vacation staying in a condo in North Virginia beach, 67th street. we saw this ship leaving, escorted by at least 2 tugs, one on starboard side, and one on the stern. i could see with binoculars, that the stern tug had a line to the ship. 6 oclock local news said it was the Dali. it was escorted far over the horizon, saw the tugs coming back early evening.
I found your channel right after you started following the accident and I want to say that you have done a well deserved Academy Award for Excellence. I am now a loyal follower of your channel. Thank you again for the outstanding coverage.
Most grateful, Captura. Andy, for your so many extremely professional report on the Dali case. Please keep us posted on judicial developments, which promise to be extremely intersticial. As you rightly said, ....this is not the end on the story.
Here in Seaford, Delaware. We just got Our Ferry Boat back from Norfolk, Va. It was going under inspection. And now they can't even Ran it over the Nanticoke River. Due to not having a Captain to run it. And it runs across 4 miles southwest of Seaford. And that Ferry Boat can handle 6 cars. The Name of the Ferry Boat is the Tina Fallon. Who was my Teacher in Jr. High school.
People forget how much DAMAGE the Dali did to Baltimore as well as our country. It added to the decimation of our supply chain after The Pandemic and this bridge rebuild will go on for years!
They talk about opening and running Ferry Boat again across the Chesapeake Bay once again. Not really sure just where they are wanting to put it and run it. But it will be Close to the Chesapeake Bay bridge. And there has not been a Ferry Boat since the first Bridge was built.
I checked Marine Traffic this morning, I was hoping she was south of the USA but it showed her off the coast of NC still. Maybe they turned tracking off or broke down?
Do you know what route she will take? Around Africa or South America or though the Suez Canal. Not sure if it fits though the Panama Canal. As always thanks for keeping us posted.
Capt Andy, Due to the uncertainty of those lawsuits would it have been an option to hold the ship until the NTSB report came out? I doubt with all China is doing it will pay those whose luves were destroyed by this. Not to meantion the cost of rebuilding the Key bridge.
I found a couple of news reports online yesterday, but they also only had port side footage. They did confirm no port anchor. Just found this one posted from a TV station's helicopter. ua-cam.com/video/ecfEaU0BChc/v-deo.htmlsi=tA_WWY2oTb3WCB-c This shows all angles of the vessel. Shockingly there doesn't seem to have been much done to close any of the tears in the hull, even in terms of light storm proofing. The views also confirm that the Dali still has NO ANCHORS. At least not at the front. Even for a sail only to dry dock both of those seem sketchy. I'm seeing 13,800 NM if it goes via Suez.

Reading over the news articles on the issues found with the ships low voltage switching system, looks like ship was an accident waiting to happen.
I sent this link to you a little after noon today. But no secret. You knew, of course.

The insurance companies are handling the losses for the event. Let's see how far the $ goes

There goes Key bridge money in the wake of a trash ship. Who pays for the bridge, one guess.
Wasn't it a write off?
Glad to see here gone.🎉
