The sound of steam engine chugging is fabulous. I used to travel from Mumbai to Manmad in the first class in the year 1966. From Mumbai to Igatpuri, there used to be electric traction. From Igatpuri to Bhusawal steam engine prevailed.

The concoction of smoke, steam and rusted iron is an elixir of the period. Coking coal dropped out of engine was source of energy for poor living by tracks

Unwise decission to withdraw these high power steam locomotives which are super masculine engines.Till date in many foreign countries high speed steam locomotive engines are engaged
in passenger trains.
These engines run by fire and water,the two fundamental needs for human survival.
Their whistle, smoke exhaust pattern ,rhythmic chuk ,chuk, sound compound wheel connecting rod motion all are unique which attract all to see such a running engine..They shall not die unless we make them to die .
Let again such engines come to tract to serve as old but not forgotten engines.
india is terrible at both adapting new tech and preserving its heritage

Long ago.....many of the loco drivers and other technical staffs were ...... anglo Indians and so many Rly colonies
Yes. I was living in a railway colony in Ajni, Nagpur. Most Anglo Indians later settled in Secunderabad. There were British loco drivers also. They left for Britain. I had many Anglo Indian friends in 1950s-1960s
It reminded my childhood days ...I use to travel from Bijapur (SCR) to Hubballi(SCR) by trail pulled by steam loco
Steam locomotive is all time memorable
I would love to have a ride again as it reminded me of my childhood days. Some ceremonial runs should be planned by all Zonal Railways to revive old memories and also allow the new generation to get a beautiful feeling of the steam era.
It would be best idea if all zonal railways, this scheme is taken seriously

Wish the British had never left us! Such old world Good old Victorian Charm the Royal Train brings ❤... From Large British Bunglows built in the Anglo Gothic Style to Wide Tree Lines roads to tall Lamp Posts across the roads and the Royal Manor houses... Everything seems so mesmerising! ❤
I plead the brailway to restore as many steam engines in to service in various sectors .This will be an enrichment to tourism and ever green experience and enjoyment to generation to generation.

This is the great journey. I respectfully appeal to my railway ministry please this train to be continue. And all railway jone at least 1 train in running condition as in haritage and as tourist purpose.
I'm from rewari and there is a special loco shed where anyone can go and ticket is only 10rs

Abhi bhi mil skta h ye mouqa to kyonki bahut jagah abhi bhi h steam engines like darjiling and this engine is Akbar which is placed in rewari and anyone can visit and see this beautiful engine

Nostalgia for me ... husband was a Steam/Diesel/Electric locomotive driver. GrandDad was Mail engine Driver. Dad was Boiler Chargeman. I love the steam engine memories.

@@dinshawmuncherjee5123 Nice memories Dinshaw. We surely grew up in a regal world of smoke and whistle and long train journeys with holdall and steel trunks and hamals in red with a badge number. Not to mention the Brandon's at long halts to change engines.

M bhi rewari se hu and my uncle is SM of rewari station ,so I also traveled in this train and it was one of my most memorable moments

Steam locomotive is founder engine , all time its valuable.
Wow... the whistle on that wp does a better job of alerting the crew on the footplate than anyone ahead of it... Deafening! Epic machine nonetheless though...
This screechy whistle is not the original Canadian WP sound which was more dominating and bass in nature and captivating.

Looks like he started off with a very small regulator opening. There was no strong puff from the blast pipe/ chimney. WP was my all time favourite loco.
Too bad the loco was limited to 40 km/h. these beasts could crack 110-120 km/h.
I've an doubt very slow departure.
You said slow start by steam engine pilot.
and speed restrictions mentioned 40 km/hr.
That also 110 km/hr max....

To be elevated to a loco pilot was a hard climb from Khalasi ( odd job helper) through coal man/

It is most necessary to ride in the steam engine train as this one pulls back to recal our child hood and student life journey.
2ndly it is applicable to know how it is running with coal and water and steam without oil, it's sound ,as well as its whistling horn sound etc. for in this computerized era's persons
Who doesn't know must and should know get experience by traveling in steam engine fixed train.
