2:24 - Weird / long hairstyles, baggy clothing, one kid wearing a suit for some reason, spines shaped like question marks, general air of depression in the room? Yep, that’s the real anime club.

2004-05 was a pretty good year for anime tbh. School Rumble, Midori Days, Gantz, Bleach, and even Samurai Champloo.

These guys were a little bit older than me (started high school in 2005) but that shot in 2:24 was very much how anime club was at my high school, just a bunch of kids sitting around in a room while something plays on the projector... simpler times....

The same season of 1995 that Ghost in the Shell, NGE, and Golden Boy came out also gave us such unforgettable classics as Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, Hyper Dolls, Idol Project, Sorcerer Hunters, and Elf Princess Rane. Even shit that was actually popular like Chobits, Love Hina, or Fushigi Yugi gets forgotten but something tells me Megalobox Nomad and Odd Taxi will fare better.
