I've rewatched this a few times and listened with headphones and I still can't figure out which one has the better mic quality. Looking at the specs they have the same three microphone steerable array.

how much better is the 40 over the 20 for speaker quality? music sounds a bit better but I couldn't be sure
I'd say the difference is marginal only.

Yes it's not very clear.
I think in terms of mics they have the number and type of mics. The 40 has a larger speaker but that's about it.
The mic on the Sync 20 is slightly better than Sync 40 for some reasons.
