1963 Gibson SG played by Ariel Posen

- Ariel Posen plays a PAF equipped SG through a Dumble Overdrive Special! The guitar has a repaired crack at the neck/body joint (with touchup) and has one replaced tuner (original in case).

Unbelievable playing. I listened mesmerized... that is how you play an SG! Excellent tone with the Dumble Special!

It has taken me some time to come to this conclusion ... Les Pauls are ALL Gibson. But these guitars have just a little bit of "Fender" tone built into them, and being a 59-year Fender player, I really dig it ...
Whether a Strat, aCollings or a Mule, Ariel has got a (great) tone of his own. This SG seems to inspire more the Blues side of him. Enhanced by the Dumble, it's a real treat ...!
Yeah... loved everything about this one.
Loved my SG !! Mine had a slightly cracked neck as well ... but sounded great and stayed in good tune

Being picky here because that was an excellent demo. But that amps tone was rather displeasing to me on the lower register. Higher up it sound lovely but the bottom stuff sounded like blown tweeter syndrome. Still great player and awesome SG.
Looks like a 61 to me. Les Paul only had his name on the SG for like 1 or 2 years max
This one is an early '63. The model was renamed SG Standard in late '63 which is when the Les Paul name was removed from the truss rod cover.
SWEET guitar. Sweet playing. So that's a Dumble? Not that impressed: but I am a die hard Fender fan ... after 59 years.
On second listening, three years later ... The Dumble sounds real fine!! 🙂

Title is slightly inaccurate as this is actually a Les Paul given the fact that it's a '63
check that truss rod cover. sure there were leftover models into the '63 calendar year

sounds thin and muddy,i wonder if its reasonable? maybe a blindfold test on these duck-deoys as us in the biz call them,one born every minute. I guess if a false false idol owned them that would make someones bragginrighta a lot better!!!
