You die (repent), and buried (into water), and resurrect (come out of the water) to a new life in Christ Jesus. Though one has the same physical body, they have been born again spiritually by the power of Jesus Christ. The rich man and Lazarus isn't a parable. It has none of the marks of one. For example, parables never mention specific names, and they always appeal to experiences common to everyone. A place with fire on one side, paradise on the other, separated by a bottomless chasm isn't something common to anyone. This is an actual experience of two people beyond the grave.

Even the other nations are represented by the dog who licked the wounds afflicting him more. This is one of a few times the Lord refers to the Gentiles as a dog.

Compassion is the paramount virtue to life Period! If in anyway shape or form you lack compassion you are by definition a coward! Evil is only ok when it's NOT happening to ones self! But if that's the case why any evil at all? Simple hypocrisy! But it's not your words that really matter, it's your actions! Showing compassion is not something that should be done begrudgingly it should be done out of a feeling of NEED to help a person when you can, and only then will you know Jesus! Everyone is a sinner but Jesus died for those sins and if in your heart you can look him in the eyes and say I advocate for compassion just look at my life after you found me! He will argue your case with God! And you will be allowed in otherwise if Jesus says he doesn't know you, unfortunately eternal torment will be your punishment, that is why it is so hard to rich people to get into heaven! They show with there actions how they feel authority should be used to deliver compassion to there fellow man, children and people starve to death and have no clean drinking water and horrible conditions to live! The first time i read this in the Bible i had such bad anxiety i didn't sleep for two days. I was freaking out .my family though i was on something. I sat at the bedside of my cousin when I was very young. He said he was saved but he kept watching a terrifying figure walk across the room and stand behind me. I couldn't see it but I started singing Jesus sweet Jesus what a wonder you are. I don't know if he got saved before he passed. When I sang the demon left the room and my sweet buddy would calm down. This went on all night. Buddy passed away the next day.

Wealth doesnt send you to hell, its our attitude concerning it and others, and whether we have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour or not. We are called to honor, obey and serve Him.

Amen, I always tithe at church and support the Billy Graham Association, the L.A. Union Rescue Mission, and the Salvation Army. When you do it to the needy and less fortunate, You have done it to me. I get emotional every time I read this verse from Matthew 25. Reminds me all that I have from the bed I sleep in, to the food in my refrigerator, my vehicle, my clothes, even the blessings of having hot/cold water, electricity, air conditioning , all these things are and come from God.

Though one has the same physical body, they have been born again spiritually by the power of Jesus Christ. The rich man and Lazarus isn't a parable. It has none of the marks of one. For example, parables never mention specific names, and they always appeal to experiences common to everyone. A place with fire on one side, paradise on the other, separated by a bottomless chasm isn't something common to anyone. This is an actual experience of two people beyond the grave.

Compassion is the paramount virtue to life Period! If in anyway shape or form you lack compassion you are by definition a coward! Evil is only ok when it's NOT happening to ones self! But if that's the case why any evil at all? Simple hypocrisy! But it's not your words that really matter, it's your actions! Showing compassion is not something that should be done begrudgingly it should be done out of a feeling of NEED to help a person when you can, and only then will you know Jesus! They show with there actions how they feel authority should be used to deliver compassion to there fellow man, children and people starve to death and have no clean drinking water and horrible conditions to live! No where in the bible does it say GOD created the 3rd world! So why do we have one??? Cowards! With a complete and total lack of compassion and empathy! And they are so sure that they never change until the day they die! THEY WILL SURELY PAY IN THE AFTERLIFE! for the same way the poor cried for mercy they will cry to in hell! And when asked to be afforded mercy! They shall receive the same amount they afford in this life, NONE and honestly I used to feel for people in hell and I kinda still do but not really because, no matter how much I wanna believe in the good in there hearts... They are in hell for a GOOD REASON as with everything GOD DOES! so I will not feel for them and the Lord will not allow anyone in heaven to either! For they would not feel for us! I went to a church revival to see my girlfriend, i was a lost sinner,the preacher was preaching on this in the book of Luke,it got my attention and at the invitation towards the end I went forward and repented and asked Jesus to save my soul ,me and that little lady was married later and been married 35 years, I 've been blessed beyond what I deserve, praise Jesus Christ from the highest of highs

In time, Lazarus died, and angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In the story, both men are portrayed as conscious after death. Did this story really happen?
No. This is a parable that Jesus related in order to teach a lesson. The fact that this is a parable is acknowledged by scholars. For example, a subheading in the 1912 edition of Luther’s Bible states that this is a parable. And the Catholic Jerusalem Bible, in a footnote, states that this is a “parable in story form without reference to any historical personage.”
Was Jesus teaching lessons about life after death? Did he mean that some people suffer in a hellfire when they die and that Abraham and Lazarus were in heaven? Several facts show that this could not be the case.
For example:
• If the rich man were in a literal place of burning torment, would not the fire evaporate the water on Lazarus’ fingertip?
• Even if it were not evaporated, would a single drop of water bring the rich man lasting relief from his suffering in a literal fire?
• How could Abraham be alive in heaven, since Jesus clearly stated that up to the time Jesus related the parable, no one had gone to heaven?-John 3:13.
Does this story support the doctrine of hellfire?
No. Although this is not a literal story, some argue that it symbolizes the idea that good people go to heaven and bad people are tormented in hellfire. a
Is that conclusion reasonable? No.
The teaching of hellfire does not fit in with what the Bible says about the condition of the dead. For example, it does not say that all good people who die experience bliss in heaven or that bad people are tortured in hellfire. Rather, the Bible clearly states: “The living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all.”-Ecclesiastes 9:5.
What is the meaning of the story of the rich man and Lazarus?
The story shows that two groups of people were about to experience a great change in circumstances.
The rich man evidently symbolized the Jewish religious leaders, “who were money lovers.” (Luke 16:14) They listened as Jesus spoke, but they opposed his message. These religious leaders looked down on the common people.-John 7:49.
Lazarus symbolized the common people who accepted Jesus’ message and who were despised by the Jewish religious leaders.
The change in circumstances was drastic for both groups.
• The Jewish religious leaders thought that they enjoyed God’s favor. But they experienced death, as it were, when God rejected them and their form of worship because they did not accept Jesus’ message. I love that in this video Lazarus was willing to go and give the man water. He was abused, spit on by those who attended the party, and so on. However when he heard the rich man in agony he nodded to Father Abraham in agreement to go. A Powerful showing of Christlike mercy.

The first time I heard this story was from my dad he would tells me and my brother this story before bed I still remember that beautiful memory and I will never forget. Thank you Lord for giving me such a God fearing parent ❤️

I sat at the bedside of my cousin when I was very young. He said he was saved but he kept watching a terrifying figure walk across the room and stand behind me. I couldn't see it but I started singing Jesus sweet Jesus what a wonder you are. I don't know if he got saved before he passed. When I sang the demon left the room and my sweet buddy would calm down. This went on all night. Buddy passed away the next day.

It wasn’t just his wealth but pride and arrogance that got him into hell. Rather than bless God with it, he was probably selfish and much more.
Sadly it's what money does to nearly all people.
Wealth doesnt send you to hell, its our attitude concerning it and others, and whether we have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour or not. We are called to honor, obey and serve Him.
This story always gets me. I hope to be become a servant and be better.

This story of the Bible was told to me by my mother when I was a small child the age of 8 or 10 yrs old. This is my favorite story I can still remember that day in the kitchen this story being told to me by my mom. I truly miss my mom she is in heaven now.

Amen, I always tithe at church and support the Billy Graham Association, the L.A. Union Rescue Mission, and the Salvation Army. When you do it to the needy and less fortunate, You have done it to me. I get emotional every time I read this verse from Matthew 25. Reminds me all that I have from the bed I sleep in, to the food in my refrigerator, my vehicle, my clothes, even the blessings of having hot/cold water, electricity, air conditioning , all these things are and come from God.
