Great video, honest reviews are awesome. I appreciate having the open discussion on how its crazy expensive, but also discuss how it can help justify the cost with quality and features.
Ive had the original genesis basecamp system with the luna burner for years. No issues at all, I love this thing. Threw the windscreen away before even trying it haha. I'd definitely buy it again. It's overpriced, yes, but the tech is worth it to me.
Found your review and am very pleased with your thoroughness. A lot of money to invest but it seems worth every penny. Looking forward to seeing some other reviews you have on your channel.
Good job presenting the Jetboil Genesis. We tried the Colman and in the wind it does not want to boil water. The flame control is not easily controlled either.
for the price i believe they could have done a removable handle on the pan, that would hold up better overtime, and a stainless steel lid for the pot. the plastic lid with melt if left on a boiling pot too long, check out the Gerber cook set they have a really nice pot and pan set
The prices have gone up a lot since this video (today is 11.27.23). At retail price off the JetBoil site that combo is going for 618.80 now. With that said, everything is on sale except the base camp combo. By buying from 3 different vendor's I've come in around $475 but I think it is because the site I bought the base camp combo is liquidating.
Great review. The griddle thing was an interesting innovation. This will be my second season with the genesis and I love it. I also have a minimo for my additional burner for making coffee. The only thing I have struggled with is fuelling more than a 16oz Coleman bottle. Looked for an adapter for larger propane bottles here in the uk but found nothing.
I have read that the Jet Boil stove has had a number of regulator failures by owners. I am wondering how you have done now that you have had it for a while. I contacted Jet Boil to inquire if there was a new, replacement regulator in the pipe line. They were not willing to say. A flexible hose would seem like a nice upgrade as well, but that's not the fail point. Apparently its the regulator itself stops feeding propane.
@@Tnapvrvideo I have read of regulator failures on so many forums but someone posted the Stansport regulator fits the jetboil stuff so I purchased and it works well, however, the second burner began leaking gas and now catches on fire which has rendered the product too dangerous to use. I took off the drip tray and burner to see if I could find the leak but it’s in the valve the feeds the burner. Having said all that, I used my Basecamp WAY more than probably intended (every day) and it held up for a 3-4 years, so should be ok for the odd camping trip or weekends
Thanks. We have survived on several different tiny pocket stoves for years on camping. This was going to be purchased for off-road trail riding and camping. I'll have to visit a retail store and see what kind of support I can expect if it fails. Safe Travels!
That’s everyone number 1 complaint of the jetboil, that plastic flimsy wind screen, after all these years, they still haven’t upgraded that thing! They must really stand firm and believe that that thing works! 😂
Coleman made a clam shell stove like this years ago, obviously heavier and not as sexy but still.... And to add insult to injury the jetboil is using Coleman bottles.😅
I've had the Coleman version for a long time now. The catch is that their grates are so high above the flames that it takes forever to heat anything. They could easily lower their grates 3/4 of an inch and make it competitive for the price but they haven't. The Coleman "Fold-n-Go" I bought 10 years ago did not come with any type of wind guard. Not sure what they come with today.
Based on reviews I've seen, people who actually use the wind screen say it is better with, than without. In other words it works fine but it is not as good as some others. Reviews say that it is easy to put on after you start cooking.
"I never took physics in high school..." Wind blowing the flame out on a manual restart stove is a safety hazard. Of course that plastic windshield is for high school graduates. "Their instincts for self-preservation is beyond me..."
The space savings is invaluable. I just got one last week. Anything that is good quality and ultralight/compact is always more expensive. In terms of gear its really not that expensive. Look at any other top end gear.
great review but for over $500 just to boil water i’ll pass, great for gear freaks and purists but my soto does all of that for $45! well presented review but with everything jetboil you need to sell your kidney to buy it. way cheaper systems out there and for 2/3rds the price👍
its a shame as it looks awesome. i live in Australia and the jetboil is $180! again for something that boils water possibly 15 seconds faster than my soto again a huge pass. also the jetboil saucepans and fryingpans are super expensive again a massive pass.
@@garytrigg-graynoth4034 I don't own any Jetboil. I have downsized my rig from a pickup to SUV and cannot haul all the gear for myself and my family. My options are to buy an off road trailer for $10k+ or try to fit everything in an SUV by downsizing dramatically. That means premium hiking gear (tent, stoves, sleep systems etc) which you pay a premium price. Glad your Soto works for you. Not everyone needs a light, compact stove solution to cook for larger groups. ua-cam.com/video/xjqGEr2ZXSY/v-deo.html
I was researching the Genesis and saw you are in Canton. I’m just down the road in Kennesaw. Thanks for your review and info.
@@wejinator maybe I will see you out on the trail, thank you for the kind words. I am into year 3 on this an love it. Never had any problems
Expensive, but a complete game changer for compact camping in my little Nissan Figaro.
Right, 5 adult dollars lol

I have an adapter that I use for hooking to a big tank as well that I bought off Amazon
I picked up the ignik gas growler. Comes with an adapter hose.
Nice video but no link for the luna satelite with the cup & french press combo
Nice review, sir!
Thank you kindly!
You just sold me on this bad boy🤟🏼 excellent video my guy
Thanks for the review. Helps greatly in pondering a high dollar purchase like this. I love gear but damn…Jetboil must have some huge margins.
There expensive but sweet

Yes my regulator died and the threads wore off to the point you couldn’t screw a gas bottle or propane hose in
That's concerning especially for that price outlay. Did you contact anyone regarding the issue and, if so, what was the end result?

Did you happen to test this out using a cast iron pan and get good results. I know many camp with camping pots/pans but I still like my cast iron.
Hi! Great set up. Can you give me the name list of those coffee thingy set please. Thanks.
Great review thank you.

What griddle is that? Love that idea
Coleman Griddle Steel Black, 9.5" x 16.5" a.co/d/6CwWQu9
Great review. Can I ask where did you get that griddle?
I bought on Amazon, just search for Coglan’s Two Burn Non-Stick camp griddle. It is $21.99
That’s everyone number 1 complaint of the jetboil, that plastic flimsy wind screen, after all these years, they still haven’t upgraded that thing! They must really stand firm and believe that that thing works! 😂
That plastic wind screen is ridiculous, you pay 500 bucks and get that. Other than that, everything else is rockstar
Coleman made a clam shell stove like this years ago, obviously heavier and not as sexy but still.... And to add insult to injury the jetboil is using Coleman bottles.😅
I remember that. Wonder what happed to that. I am enjoying the jetboil

Does the windscreen work? If a cheap solution works, why pay more?
For paying all the money, the wind screen is cheesy, I have never used it

Were you get it for that price
Bought it in pieces on Amazon

"Their instincts for self-preservation is beyond me..."
That wind screen should have been titanium. 😢
It should have been anything else for what this stuff costs
Three stone stove ( just saying & a whole lot cheaper )
Everything is cheaper than a jet boil. I had been using a Coleman for year, needed to trim down on space and went a little wild on buying the best
500 I'll pass
It is pretty sweet

You are not paying for speed, When you get to a certain point space, efficiency and weight becomes a commodity.
