The D really needs to sing every song ever written
My thoughts exactly
Patiently waiting
yeah!
Technically through the miracle of human reproduction, the already have. Oh, you mean Kage and Jb? I agree.
Would love to hear some Black Sabbath or Quiet Riot from Them
I wish this was a full remake of the whole opera - honestly Jack Black is one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time. He should be recognized as such.
Dude that would be incredible. Of course they would find a way to make it silly and i love them for it, but even if it were played 100% seriously, i would instantly buy a full Tenacious D does Tommy album
If Tenacious D did a full cover of the Who’s Tommy, it truly would be something special.
I agree, Jack is deeply underrated, but i think it's cos he's fooling around on purpose... Like he doesn't wanna be taken seriously as a rock vocalist
JB as the step-dad, but get roger Daltrey to play the pilot father,Dave ghrol as uncle ernie, and Kage as tommy!
This is probably the most genuine and honest homage to The Who I have ever witnessed. I know they've been doing this live for a while but what a pleasure to hear it recorded. 2 kings......
Maybe not: ua-cam.com/video/nFZWB4CoxPY/v-deo.html
I don’t know much of The Who beyond Pinball Wizard and some of their other really famous ones. What are the songs in this medley?
@@Jack_Ss all songs in this medley come from The Who's Tommy.
If you don't know Tommmy then I highly recommend you start with the studio album, then watch the film.
For other stuff, look for the kids are alright and go from there.
@@Jack_Ss For hard core Who fans I guess.
@@Jack_Ss Here's an actual answer to your question:
1. Pinball Wizard (as you know)
2. There's a Doctor
3. Go to the Mirror
Okay. I am the world's biggest Who fan. I've adored them for 50 years now. I have a strict NO WHO COVERS policy that has only been exempted once with The Scorpions and "Can't Explain".
But this...THIS IS BRILLIANT. Very impressive. 10/10 would recommend.
You don't like Limp Bizkits Behind Blue Eyes?
@@LoganAlbertsChannel I haven't heard it.
I'll give it a listen and get back to you!
@@rebeccakleitz3177pp
I love Elton’s pinball wizard. One of my favorite songs ever. But very respectable only liking the who
Love the Who have you heard Pearl James Love Reign Over Me? I thought it was pretty good
I couldn't get enough. I wish this was longer. They should play the whole Tommy opera.
My thoughts as well, a quarter of the way through. Tenacious D remaking Tommy with them playing all the parts. Something I didn't even know I needed 5 minutes ago.
Now I want to hear the Tenacious D do a full cover of See Me, Feel Me/Listening To You. That was epic.
Maybe and D Hommage Tribute movie but a 2 movie directed by liam.
@@Beeznitchio As in only the two playing all the roles?
I thought the exact same thing.
This might be the greatest thing we've ever seen! I mean not the greatest song in the world, but still...
It's just a tribuuuuute
There are too many greatest songs!
I think that's the reason genres exist, so you can say it's my favourite fun-alternative-rock-metal-band cuz there's only 1 band per genre...
That's not opinion, that's fact
@@jacobp.6610 you gotta believe me
It’s a medley not a song. Good grief.
Man, I coulda been born 1000 years ago but I lucked the fuck out and got to exist during the Golden Era of the D.
TWO KINGS!
WE’LL LEAD AS TWO KINGS!
@@KevinNerfs oh yeah, we'll fuckin' lead as two kings
@@KevinNerfs I thought it was Leaderz2Kingz this whole time 🤣
You clearly love the D
i guess it would be a lot more likely to be born these days cuz there's 8 billion people lmao
"I FKN LOVE THIS BAND. THEY ARE THE BEST BAND EVER, PERIOD."
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, TENACIOUS!!!! D!!!!
"This next band asked me to read this"
"The next band told me not to read this, but goddamnit I'm gonna read it anyway!"
@@CS_GOD64 Because I wrote it! And it’s the truth!
The lines are a little out of order, but we got spirit. 🙂🧃
Jack's impression of The Acid Queen's face quiver was spot fucking on!
Just wanna say that you've got good taste for having the Outsider's Mark as your profile picture.
He also got the dance moves of ann-magret perfect.
Love the pfp
I think this is the best tribute any band could think of. Tenacious D demonstrates how much of an influence the Who has been for them, while playing the Who's titles in their own style. The video is also awsome. I'm not familiar with all the references in it, but I've seen a few comments here... this is just perfect.
Once you watch the movie Tommy you'll appreciate it even more.
Pinball Wizard - There's a Doctor - Go to the Mirror. What a fantastic medley!! 100% The D style
Pinball wizard there's a doctor go to the mirror
THANK YOU! I've been trying to find that song, the one that had the lyrics to "See Me, Feel Me" in it, for the last two years! I honestly didn't know the name to it! Now I know it's called "Go to the Mirror!" Thank you!
@@Kaizer617 you should listen to the whole album, it is in many tracks
@@s.e.3765 I will! Thank you for letting me know!
Amazing - wish it was longer
That's what she said
@@MrChumpus Boom! Shakalaka!
That’s what your mom said
If I had a pound...
That's what my sister said.
And again and again. These songs are "almost" untouchable by anyone else. These two. They can touch even the untouchables. So good!
Hopefully they asked, then touched. Unwanted touching is inappropriate.
God, that was good. What a relief!!!!
I absolutely love that they paid such a thoughtfully detailed tribute to this campy yet epic film. I must have seen it a hundred times and listened to the soundtrack a thousand. Thank you, D!!!
Name of movie
@Rich Gomer some link to watch it
I saw it in the theater as a kid when it came out - I was 10 - and it blew my little mind.
I have never felt so much joy and appreciation for music ever before in my life. This made me cry because my favorite band(the D) and my favorite album(Tommy) combined into a schmega mega song. God bless the D, JB and KG!! All hail
I wish I could just carry these guys around with me in my pocket and bring them out whenever I wanted to rock, and the mini-D would just keeping rockin' no matter what until I put them back into my pocket - from where, of course, the muffled sounds of rock would still be heard.
Stop trying to pretend like you don’t have a “mini D.” 😏
Don’t worry though, nothing wrong with that. The ladies still all want KG’s chode.
I have such device. Its called a phone and I use it exactly how you describe. D only.
My ringtone is Wonderboy (Album Version) so when anyone calls me I get treated to Tenacious D.
It’s stars with a Jacks beautiful melodic vocals singing “Wonderboy, what is the secret of your powers?” And Kyles lovely guitar in the background. Perfection.
If the pockets are big enough, it should work. And damn, I'd need pockets like that, too, then. To hear them rocking, and occasionally pull them out to give them a huge hug.
That was so much fun! Great job!! I'm glad to see that Tommy isn't forgotten.
Cover album! Please! Double disk. One set list for Jack & Kyle each. ❤ favorite band of all time
Full spazz out desecration of a classic. Now we know we’re dead.
Jack's talent knows no end. Such an awesome voice.
And Kyle’s harmony and guitar is the perfect complement. They are so so good together.
As a life long lover and fan of The Who, I have to say that this is brilliant! I loved every minute of it. What a great homage to the greatest band ever!
The D Will always be one of the greatest bands ever just another masterpiece added to the collection! keep up the amazing work!
One of?!
no sir.
they are the greatest band in the world.
They are the D. they are the D. they are the D. they are the D.
Amen
Dio is smiling up at them to this day
@@FellowHuman137 they're just a tribute
That was just awesome, I laughed, cried, found religion, lost it, found it again, put it to one side. I learnt to love and have compassion. All this because of Tenacious D. My life has found it’s meaning and I shall never be the same. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you Tenacious D for making 2022 a wonderful time to be alive.
OMFG... I'm... crying... literally. I love this movie and the album SO MUCH!!! it's part of my life since I was a boy! This is so BEAUTIFUL!!! What a greatgreatGREAT tribute!
Spectacular. I didn’t know this was what I needed to see today, but it sure was. “Tommy” was a pivotal movie for me as an anachronism-loving teen. You definitely gave Ann-Margaret a run for her money. This video was “a meal fit for a king!”
Gas is one of the most underrated musicians in the game right now. Y'all need to start putting some respect on his name
Agreed.
Agreed!! I wish I could learn guitar from the master himself just like a young JB
If only He didn't have that last name (Gass)
@@salcedo47 It's alright now, in fact it's a GASS
He is more than a Man he's a shiny golden god
I've lost count how many times I've watched this, it's one of the best rock videos I've ever seen.
I love Tommy the Movie, Jack and Kyle are superbly talented humble and so respectful to such an iconic masterpiece from The Who.
Thankyou Tenacious D.
Growing up primarily the only music I listened to was R&B, gospel and rap. But as I got older, I started to really getting into rock music, alternative music and metal. Somewhere along the way I found Tenacious D. i was already a huge Jack Black fan, but Tenacious D became one of my favorites of all time. I got older, I had two boys. It was the same for them, yet somehow they found you too. Me and my X used to smoke out listening to tenacious D, then go and watch "the pick of destiny". Needless to say, you guys will always be a very important part of my life. Thank you❤️❤️❤️✌🏾
The Who's Tommy was the first professional musical production I ever saw, back in the 90s on the huge stage at the Orpheum in Omaha. It BLEW MY FUCKING MIND, and this medley just blew my fucking earholes with nostalgia! Thanks for keeping it so amazingly true to the original!
The Goodman Theater in Chicago is staging it next summer, with the original Broadway director Des McAnuff. If it goes to Broadway, go see it -- it will blow your mind all over again.
Lucky!
Love the Orpheum!! Omaha native here
Can't fully describe how much I loved this. One thing that always comes through with these guys is how much they truly love the music. Their love for The Who is shining through here and the video is brilliant. Now do the whole Tommy album please!
Tommy was my intro to Who.
Age 7 I played this album forever.
Tenacious D is in my top 10
You have no idea of the stupid grin on my face for 3 min!
I could listen to the D do this entire rock opera!
same here
Same
It's just so obvious that they share the love of The Who that the rest of their fans have!
I normally don't like Who covers--but this was great and I adore Tenacious D for doing it.
Me too. The original - and the movie soundtrack. I was around 10. It was a huge deal to me. HUGE.
thats amazing that you could play this at age 7 bravo
I had a horrible day today and was really sad, but this video got me chuckling again. Power of music and humor, thanks Tenacious D, getting a couple laughs out of me today really helped and I'm grateful.
Visually taken from the movie but lyrically going back to the original album and 90's stage show. The level of brilliance in putting this together is magnificent. Using the 'Listening to You' section from 'Go to The Mirror' kills two birds with one stone in getting as much oompf as you can in this wonderful Who tribute.
Tenacious D rocking the rock opera. This is one of the best tributes to The Who's music I've ever seen.
This song just cured my chronic depression and saved my marriage.
Only thing "wrong" with this is that I wish it was longer and had more songs in the medley. But it's The D, so as always, it rocks hard.
Naysayer! There's absolutely nothing wrong with this music video, it's perfect in every way! you must be a member of arcade fire! lick the D's boot, or suck it!
Do you know by any chance the other songs besides pinball hero? Thanks for the help
@@shavitsapozhnikov1050 Pinball Wizard, There's a doctor, Go to the Mirror
As a The Who Fan I must say good job boys!
I’ll legit pay in advance for more of this. Long live the D
I saw The D live in Denver, the day Pick of Destiny was released in theaters, and they ended the show with this medley. It’s still one of my favorite concert memories to this day.
They played it in London, along with War Pigs. Likewise, it is one of the best moments at a concert I have ever seen.
Same in Atlanta that year
I was there too! Primus played the night
Before or after. I remember they played a Beatles song at some point too. And they played rocket sauce to the tune of blackbird.
The attention to detail is just astonishing…
Moon would have absolutely loved it! 🌙🥁💥
I didn't consider that, but you're right, this is exactly Keith's sense of humour!
i was wondering why this vid seemed to lack a Keith Moon element, felt like he got left out
💯💯💯He would have INSISTED on being in it!!🤣🤣
What the world needs now, Is Moon, sweet Moon.
I miss that crazy guy.
Man, Jack and KG at the end singing I wish I knew really hits good.
I love this tribute so much, I just keep listening to it. So good!
Just glad Liam Lynch is still alive.
Thanks for being a part of my life since middle school, Tenacious D! Stay metal!
I've always thought the long version of "Rise of The Fenix" felt like a Who song. It's epic 🤘
me also reminds me so much of Tattoo
This came a few days before my birthday and is the best present I've gotten in a while. AMAZING Pastiche! You captured the sights, sounds and utter weirdness of one of my favorite films!
Happy Birthday, for whenever it was
Excellent! And if even one person discovers the crazy madness that is the Ken Russell Movie then it's a worthwhile endeavor.
Can't wait for unsuspecting folks to discover the distinctive vocal stylings of Mr. Oliver Reed.
ya that and the WHO ROCKS
I'm almost as old as the movie, never saw it and since seeing seeing this video I've seen the film three times and have the soundtrack on infinite repeat. It's fuckin bloody awesome.
Going down a rabbit hole.... completely unhinged but im so pumped right now!!!!
Thank you guys for a lifetime of awesomeness... Love this 🦾🦾😁
This could have went on for hours and hours, and I would have still enjoyed it. Besides the fact, that its freaking hillarious, it is, like always, musically absolutely great. The D rules and always will. Thanx from Germany!
Wooooooooowwwwwwwwww!
This was seriously great
This can still bring tears to my eyes! Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this today. Had heard of the Who, but you can bet I listened to the whole Tommy album after this! Good shit guys!
Fantastic!!!!
I love Tommy and I love the D! I'm so glad you guys have started recording the live-only tunes you've been doing over the years. Really helps to properly preserve them
Great vocals and storyboard. I really enjoyed this, makes me realize how awesome the WHO are.
have loved the live version for so long, and as undeniably kickass as that version is, it rules to have a sweet juicy studio recording of this gem.
So good to see "Go To The Mirror" been played!!
The Who sure is lucky to have had their songs covered by the greatest band to ever exist in this and any other universe.
Excellent medley and love the video. Jack's Tina Turner at the end was spot on!
Everything Tenacious D touches these days is just gold
Please, Tenacious D, never stop... Your music never fails to be awesome!!!
Now THIS is how you make a love letter to an artist you look up to. DW should take notes.
Oh. My. God!! And here I was thinking Christmas was still months away! LONG LIVE THE D!
That's another track from Tommy they should cover.
I was wondering if anyone word get the reference. Nice job! I love that song too.
"Did you ever see the faces of the children? They get so excited!"
These two are incredibly talented and they did a great job. So great that I’ve had this version of song on repeat a few times now.
I think we need a Tenacious D version of the entire Tommy movie. I'd love to see Jack Black rolling around in some baked beans like Nora
Or the pinball AM scene!
I was just coming to the comments to say yes, I'd 100% love to see a full remake of Tommy, finding someone capable of pulling of Tina Turner's role is gonna be a big challenge though.
@@phillupson8561 I think P!nk could do it. Her vocal range alone is a good match, and she is a good dancer.
Maybe Lady Gaga .. as much as I hate to say it.
@@hmoore23 I disagree with that..there is no way in heckubus Pink compares with Tina..range or dancing or combination of crazy, sexy, strength, range, etc. If Patti Labelle got flack for her version (and she toured with the Who), Pink certainly cant. Hardcore Who fans (and Ive played The Acid Queen in tributes for years as well as Mrs Walker) as opposed to people discovering Tina and the Who now just wont accept someone who is a pop star (as opposed to rock) filling in for Tina. And Lady Gaga..no effing way..she basically has ripped off so many of the OGs in too obvious a way. When you take someone's idea, at least dont sell it as your own..example: Prince's slave tattoo for her meat dress (which wasnt even her design and was a ripoff of Tina's wig dress).
I came here to say this. Thank you!
Absolutely great!
Jack as Ann Margaret, that killed me😆 Great video boys, keep em comin.
Spot on satire of her dancing 2!
ooh, hell - yes! I'd forgotten she was mum! His Tina Turner was on point, though, I gotta say
This was amazing. I would LOVE to see Tenacious D do a Quadrophenia medley. Maybe I'd just want to see them do ;Love Reign O'er Me'!
Agreed! Tommy is legendary, but I feel like their most powerful and emotive songwriting was in that period. Who's Next, Quadrophenia, etc.
Ive been guest vocalist in trib bands. doing Acid Queen and Mrs Walker, but the D's version of the ladies in Tommy is the most spot on performance Ive ever seen! Tina's mouth tremble is both right on, terrifying and hilarious at the same time! All hail the D! P.s. A friend of mine who shall be nameless turned down Jack Black when he auditioned for him because JB was chubby and acting crazy! He must be eating his heart out now!
@@Osric24 Hopefully Pete will finally bring The Age of Anxiety to opera form! 🎛🎸😍🎶

How do they do it? Change my life with every damn song. Keep up the great work guys. Your creative genius is severely underrated.
Is it, though? I mean, I - in no way - mean to diminish their productions, but those of us who know them rate them very highly; Shirly they are just under-known, not under-rated (and yes - I will stop calling you Shirly)

One of the few things my dad left to me when he ran out on my mom was an 8-track version of The Who's Tommy. I played that over and over. Later on I got to see it at the Providence Performing Arts Center with my grandmother. The stage production was even more amazing and I wish I had a recording of that performance. This is a delightful tribute and shows why the D (and I mean the full band not just Jack & Kyle) are all amazing musicians.
