What would you change? Also link me yours! 🙏🏻🤙🏻
I ordered the top handle after watching your video and it is by far the best top handle I have ever touched. Amazing-thank you for the tip.
It’s so good right! Glad it helped 🥳👌🏻
Nice, not too many people know about Nitze.. I have the same one but it’s called the mini stinger.
Amazing break down and super useful to have the costs included as it helps keep it clear how to properly budget for this sort of setup! Amazing work brother man!
Thanks dude! Hah yea it gets expensive quickly 🥴😅 thought it would be handy for others to know!
Love the tracking price counter. It adds up so fast!
Great video man. Looking forward to see some finished videos with this rig!
Yea it’s surprising right! Obviously you could get running with it for alot cheaper than I have, but considering a lot of people would be weighing up this camera and the fx6, that’s quite a difference considering you can get shooting right out of the box with that. Thanks for the comment though dude, looking to put lots more stuff out this year with this rig 👌🏻
@@bandwagonbull so true. I wen the fx6 route and managed to spend a few more $k on accessories.
Just uploaded a rig breakdown too
Nice! Love the fx6, it’s a beast. I’ll check it out when it’s up!
Slowly building up a rig for my Komodo - this is very useful.
Happy it’s helped! I’ve even tweaked it since, so may do an update soon 👌🏻
Top work man - everything looks slick as hell! look forward to more
Thanks so much dude! Talking to the camera is no easy task as I have recently discovered, and I had way too much fun with the SFX 😅 Onto the next one!
I really like what you do. Good luck growing your channel!!!
Thanks so much! Means a lot :)
Nice setup, very ergonomic and compact , nice jokes , I subscribed and I hope to see more of these videos
Thanks so much! Will be putting out lots more in the coming weeks along these lines, so hopefully it won’t be a wasted sub 🤣👌🏻
love this video
Thanks dude!
Very useful indeed, thank you! 😀
Thanks Dylan! Means alot :)
Like build out. Definitely saw a couple things I need! Subbed
Amazing, thank you!
Love this a lot!
Thank you!! ☺️
sweet rig
Thanks man! Took some tweaking to get to this point but we made it 😅🤙🏻
haha very fun review, and useful I have to say.. keep going bro
Hah thanks man! Sometimes have a little too much fun in the edit!
Keep it up🎉
Will do! 🤟🏻
nice breakdown mate! How has the whole SDI power up/power down procedure been for you? Is it a pitb when run and gun shooting?
Thanks man! So I haven't had any issues with it myself! Mainly because I leave it alone once the camera is all setup tbh because I'm scared I'll fry it hah I've heard too many stories of it being fried, and if I'm completely honest I should've got an isolator a loooong time ago just incase!
How many MEGApixels isir?
Sick video man, brilliantly done! Congratulations on keeping my attention too... Real talk, good job 👏🏿
5000 of the mega-est pixels sir. Haha thanks man! Pretty daunting talking to the camera for the first time. Maybe I'll put out an extended BTS cut of how s**t I actually am at it haha
@@bandwagonbull That's a lot of pixels! Mega that is. Man, it's the worst! Speaking as someone who absolutely hates talking to a camera, I would love to see outtakes 😂
Looking forward to more content from you, you gonna be the next Casey Neistat son!
Me encanto el video
@bandwagonbull What is the lens support thing you added to the rods?
It’s just where you can mount a lens support for longer lenses, ended up taking it off after a while as I didn’t end up really using it!
Question, is that really a 90mm NATO rail on the Outrigger handle? I have a 90mm and it’s not long enough to mount.
Yep that’s the one! It’s from 9sinn if that helps
Great content! Do you like the focal lenght of the 35 with out the speed booster? I am looking at the vespid 35mm for my first cine lens for the komodo.
Thanks man! Trying to have a bit of fun with it at the same time without going overboard on the sound effects haha
Yea! So I've got the normal EF-RF mount adaptor too, so it's kinda like having a 35 and a 24 in one (kinda-ish🤣). I'm looking to get the 21 and 90 too in the near future, so it's almost like I'll have 6 focal length with the two different adaptors!
Ooooh ya!! Epic build. I'll definitely do a similar build with my Komodo X
If you have a larger Mic. E.g Zenheiser Mkh 416
Do you think it would get in the way on the left near the focus??
Thanks my dude! Naaah you’ll be fine man, I tend to pop my cold shoe on the left hand side of the wing grip rather than the top when I have bigger microphone and it works a treat 👌🏻
Great video, man. What camera did you use for your A roll? I feel like it’s another RED but can’t seem to figure it out. The quality is amazing.
Thanks man! Believe it or not, the piece to camera was shot on a canon r5c (shock! Hah) with 15-35 RF + 1/8 mist and the top down shot of me building the rig was Sony a7siii with 24-70GM. I traded in the a7siii for the r5c (whilst this video was being shot) for a handful of reasons which I’m in the middle of recording a video about :) so far I’m impressed by the r5c, and that’s coming from a long time Sony user!
@@bandwagonbull I'm shocked. I have the A7SIII and used the r5c at the store. I was blown away by how great the colors looked out of the camera. I might have to make some business decisions soon! LOL.
Haha oh no 😅🤣 Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the a7siii, a camera that size just shouldn’t be able to produce the image it does 😅 but it just made sense with having the Komodo as it has the same lens mount, and if I didn’t get the red I probably would’ve kept the Sony. I’m partial to some stills too tho. It was a long hard decision for me but the r5c is growing on me quickly!
The battery life is as bad as people say though 😅 so extra batteries/power options are a must
Great video man, how much battery life do you get for the camera?
Thanks man! On a the nano two you can probably get about 4h worth of shooting. I have 2x nano ones and 1x nano two and that pretty much covers me for a full day of shooting really!
That 90mm nato rail from small rig doesn’t work on the top of the red Komodo handle
Ahh I’m so sorry, just checked the linked and sends to the wrong product, I’ve updated this now so thank you for highlighting!
Any issues with the Tilta Vmount plate to date? Saw some negative reviews on it.
Nothing whatsoever! I picked up an ex-demo model too and I have had zero issues with it at all :)
Will this work with the RED DSMC3 monitor?
I’m not 100% sure, but I think the DSMC3 monitor only works with the new Komodo X and not the original. Don’t quote me though as I’ve not really looked into it myself as I don’t have an X!
Ribbed 😂
Hah how it didnt occur to me until I said it out loud I'll never know
How would you rig your Komodo if you wanted to use your Tilta Nucleus Nano II Follow Focus Wireless?
So since this video I have dropped the bottom bit completely and mounted a tilta nato rail rod clamp to the top so can add/remove rods and attachments without the bottom section!
If you use the quick release plate and shed the bottom half of the rig how are you using the focus?
Replied to your other comment :)
Hello, Can you take photos with this setup. Thx!
Hi Tom! Thanks for the comment, unfortunatley you won't be able to with this I'm afraid! Love your content btw!
@@bandwagonbull ha! Great video bro 🙏🏼
@@tomleefilms Haha Cheers bruvvaaaa
I just saw your video in my recommended and I have to say, damn, that's extremely expensive. It's like 2xFX6 basically and you're missing out on that great internal ND.
I bought an FX3 specifically to have a very compact camera, but internal noise reduction is so bad it ruins a lot of shots forcing to shoot ProRes RAW.
I think I might as well get myself an FX6. With the "hidden" cost, Komodo is just is not worth it in most cases.
Yea man, it creeps up very quickly for sure! I thought including the cost would be useful for people weighing up the options as its not always clear with these things as like you said, it costs a lot less to get up and running with an FX6. Obviously this cost does include a lens, memory card, external monitor, V-lock batteries etc that you could very well include on a comparible FX6 build, so I don't think it quite translates to exactly double, but it's definitely more expensive with a Komodo vs FX6. The thing that swayed me was the 16-bit R3D footage, it's just dreamy in post, but totally agree with you on the ND. Swings and roundabouts! hah
@@bandwagonbull yes I agree with you. When you add basic accessories to FX6 it quickly adds up too, but obviously not to that extent.
As other people already mentioned, thank you for mentioning the cost of the build, it's extremely helpful to let people know what they might be getting themselves into.
Quite frankly I've been using Phantom LUTs (Alexa rec.709 emulation) since day one and they look very pleasing after you add a little bit of contrast. I don't see a reason to upgrade to RED or even ProRes RAW seems to be an overkill, but it gives a lot more flexibility for noise reduction via Neat Video plugin.
For most of the projects I just bake in the Phantom LUT right away and then add Kodak 2383 and Halation/Bloom/Grain via Dehancer.
You should check out this plugin, it's really great. Way better than most of the creative LUTs out there.
BTW Joel recently released Phantom LUTs for Komodo and Raptor, check them out on his channel!
@@Arseny.Petukhov Yea totally man, I wouldn't necessarily even call the Komodo an upgrade compared to the FX6 really, I'd just say it's an equally good a tool suited to different jobs - they both are such solid cameras in their own right each with their pros and cons.
LOVE the phantum LUTS too, I found them a little over two years ago I think, and they consistently get me like 90% of the way there with most projects (especially social media/youtube stuff) and love the look of them! Definitely one of the strongest I've ever used, particularly Utopia I think that's my fave 👌🏻
I saw you were at 999 subscribers so I had to put you over the edge. Keep doing what you're doing!
Haha you sir are an absolute legend! Thanks so much 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Great video dude! Super helpful and love the sound effects as well! Brought many a chuckle. Keep up the awesome work! 🤟
Haha thanks man! I have way too much fun adding them in when editing, so glad it comes across 😅 plan on doing lots more this year!
Just need that tilta mirage and you're in there!
Haha I’ve been seriously considering that for a while! Been back and forth a few different options, but that seems to be the front runner for sure 👌🏻
What do you use for audio?
I try to avoid running it through the camera as the preamps arent great, where possible I like to run it through a Zoom H8 with shotgun/wireless mics instead. But where I dont have that option I just pop a RODE videoNTG on the coldshoe mount on the left!
The fart at the end was gold!!!
Haha the only way to end the video, right? 😅👌🏻
