    We've been programming in php for customers for over a decade. Since it's still being updated and runs very fast, we keep on using it. Also..when you program for many years in this language, it's so freakin' fast to build something really strong and safe..so no need for us to change in the coming years.

      @@jideafrica If you want to check out the symfony framework (that is used as a base for many others) SymfonyCasts is a great place to learn. The initial courses are free and worth trying out

    If you live outside of first world countries then PHP should be your number 1 priority. i "wasted" a year learning React and trying getting a job with no results but could find one only after several months of learning PHP. It's also much easier to switch from JS/React to PHP than i expected

    Php pays my bills! I really enjoy coding in php.. In Spain is widely used, specially Symfony and Laravel

    PHP is very dynamic in a way you can create a PHP program as full backend service (REST Api) or you can create program using PHP combining both frontend and backend. I've been using PHP for more than 7 years now i've worked in 4 different companies and mostly they're using PHP.

      as well as javascript lol, if you learn PHP you have to learn javascript as well because you will use it for sure with PHP at the front-end, but while javascript can do what PHP do, then why we not save the time and learn only javascript to build the projects?

      @@Anas_Alaqeel cuz' of demands in a region. Php+Js is more prominent in some regions if you are targeting fullstack position.

    I think this question can be further divided as whether you want to go frontend or backend. Frontend: React, Vue, Next, Nuxt. Backend: php, node, go.

      Frontend is getting into a bit of a problem with how complex the frameworks are. I'm a vue.js person, but I don't like how complex it gets

      @@lionelthetechlead8839 I was once a Vue guy as Vue was shipped with Laravel. But since I was doing another project which already used React, I was forced to learn it. At beginning, I was reluctant to learn jsx, but ever since I'm more used to it, I feel it's superior compare to the template syntax used by Angular and Vue, because I only need to think and write in js. Also react hooks also simplify a lot of stuff. The ts support is also the main reason that I still use React.

    I tech lead Lionel, I'm new to your channel. I stumbled on it because I'm learning to become a php/laravel developer. Today, my 2nd day of learning coming from front-end developer using javacript. However, so far I'm really loving laravel and while I'm learning and growing to become a full stack developer. I'm taking comfort in hearing your content knowing that learning php is the right move for job security, longevity in the industry and an amazing tech community. 😁🙌

    I use PHP. The first time I got in touch with it was 2003. I had a break between 2008 and 2019. I don't like most of the developments around PHP: tons of frameworks, zillions of functions. It is still not able to manipulate arrays by a simple dot or comma separated key path. And it should be called isset instead of php. :)

      Use a framework, they straighten all that stuff. Have you seen js? You got to splice an array.

      @@lionelthetechlead8839 , yes. That was the point. And no, copying data takes too long. My function set from 2008, based on keypathes and referenced, is still fine and hyperfast.

      @@MeinDeutschkurs sounds like you use it for data processing. PHP is primarily a web language so data processing isnt its core. However PHP 8 has JIT which will shift certain processes to machine code and run it low level which will boost computation speeds.

      @@lionelthetechlead8839 , yes and no. In early days I made lots of websites. Today I abuse PHP to fire frame perfect changes to my streaming software, which accepts changes through a json API. Very unconventional, but extremely effective and flexible. For this I did some kind of a JIT JITTERER (in analogy to another compiler compiler) 😆

    You are right with everything you say. I have enough information from you PHP advocates that PHP is an awesome choice. My issue is the documentation. I am learning PHP but my god the documentation is bad. I am learning JS as well and when I go to MDN docs I understand what's happening. With PHP it's the opposite.

      Really? Give me a couple of sites where you are learning and I'll make a video on learning PHP easily. I find the documentation on JS more messy, especially since you need to know if you are in frontend or backend. running with vue, angular or react or node or node, light.

    I think the only people who hate php...is the people who havent given it a proper chance. Really like it now
    I only prefer node for native json objects.
    vue + laravel/ vanilla php is so nice

    You are showing your "youth and inexperience". Cobol, even with its "faults" (and what programming language does not have faults) is relevant and will continue to be so for many years to come. Having said that, I like PHP a lot!

      Luckily the US still runs the social security system on cobol. But then again the US gov loves old school. Biden's like Cobol. More than 5 decades old. Barely functional yet somehow runs the country.

    i codes by php language and created some project with laravel of php since 3 years ago, but now i am studying and developer by nodejs,with me, i assume ,php can is the best programming language to student or beginner and I learned many things from this language as OOP,MVC, handle build a web project singe page application restFul API by reactjs and laravel,it's really great

    This is out of context but I think would be very cool to have as another video. Can you please out line the difference between programming and coding?
    I see a lot of articles online saying programming isn't coding when infact it is coding but not the other way round. Can you please correct me if I'm wrong?

    Of course he dies! Therefore, you should learn Python so that PHP developers earn even more! Thank you for the video! Ruby is also dying, but my acquaintance, a rails developer, gets 10 times more than me on php. And all because of the fact that there are few developers in ruby.

    Yes PHP will dead but not very soon but will slowly dead , because new generation of engineers mostly start with Python , JavaScript or Go they don’t even touch PHP and another reason many boot camp schools they don’t teach PHP this mean that many students from those boot camps will start use only those languages , that they learn from boot camps to looking for a job.
    I myself used PHP since year 2006 and my current organization still use PHP too. If possible I still want PHP still exists for ever.

      nobody ever started with PHP, they don't teach it because it's not 'institutional'. At the end of the day, things always flow to the less resistance and that is PHP.

      At my uni I changed the curriculum from Java for web programming to PHP. Some students ask for node, I might update the course next year (in east Asia)

      @@spencer5028 Nice. Java is too 1990s in the Era of servers. PHP tapes the lightweight and moves with the cloud. One issue I have with Node is that it mixes with frontend so people get confused. Will do a video on node.js.
