- I met a subscriber IRL and suddenly he asked why I was fanatical about PHP. The thing is I used other languages unlike other so called 'experts'.

As a Software Developer myself and running my own company, I liked the idea of sharing my work and experience with others. And here I am, Lionel The Tech Lead!

Hi Lionel! You are the best, I am just starting out on my DEV journey and have have chosen PHP cos it's so so SIMPLE and so powerful. It talks to the server right away and I can start building at a very early stage compare to JavaScript which takes so much time to learn to use on the backend. Btw, do you happen to know any "ever-green" books on PHP.
Just jump to Codaholics UA-cam channel. He has a 3 hour tutorial on beginning PHP. But I would honestly just skip to using a framework like Yii2 and just follow the tutorial because the framework has all the best practices built in.

PHP is a great language. It was the language which taught me classes. What's amazing about PHP is, it is a very well-designed language. PHP has come a very long way since the older versions.

I've used PHP for over a decade and have always loved it. However now I'm learning Go.
It's very similar however very limited people use go.
Started with PHP, learned a lot of other languages. There's better things than PHP around, especially now. So the answer is Yes

@@lionelthetechlead8839 Rust is pretty enjoyable to write, Elixir is pretty good if you want to try the functional approach. Both languages are very loved by the community, good DX + fun.
@@lionelthetechlead8839 Specifically for Web, try out Elixir. For systems programming or just general purpose, try out Rust.
