yes agree, he is one of the japaese prodigies but due to the gambling issue with Kento Momota is the reason why he is forbidden to compete internationally
Tago had one of the craziest runs in all England 2010, beating all the Chinese seeded players then losing narrowly to LCW. He definitely put Japan on the map before momota became the next big thing
really enjoyed watching Tago play in the past, he seems to have a good sense of humor and never truly got angry. He seemed to treat momota like a little brother back then as well.
It's very efficient. I guess, the only reason why Tago retired early was that his body was not designed for this sports. But he is truly a Champion of the Sports.
More like he was forced to retire because he got banned from all badminton activities after being caught gambling alongside Momota. Momota got 2 years ban, so he made a return in 2017. Tago got his ban lifted recently, but by then, he has already passed the age where he could compete. He does do some coaching and has a fairly successful UA-cam channel.
Tago was a badminton genius who had the technicality and strategy of a great champion, he kind of reminds me of a less athletic Taufik. However, he enjoyed his comforts too much and never realized his true potential.
one thing I noticed in his game is that he plays an extremely fast-paced game. I had put the video on 0.25 speed to break-down his footwork and then sped it up to normal pace in the later parts of the video. While watching at a normal pace, it felt like I had sped it up to 1.25x by mistake.
Nice, thanks ! I will use that cause stamina is my problem and i don't want to change from my double's racket so i may have better drive than my opponent.
The last 2 couple of games between them were sort of close, i'd say technically he had the skill to beat LD. But his fitness was his downfall to losing most games. Their h2h is 1-3. I wouldn't say "shit on" but LD is the goat tbf so he was expected to win. Tago went crazy vs LCW in the indonesian open 2014 though.
could you in your future videos just briefly show the player on court (with arrow or sth like that) that you're referring to? sometimes i just cannot make out who u talking about unless its a Axelsen ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Kenichi tago is one of the most underrated player

He's underrated bcause he is in the same era with LD and LCW.

Woah you really made a vid about this underrated player.
Great video!
Please make more of these vids!! Especially on the strategy of using less stamina.
To be honest, he got very good game IQ

always thought kenichi tago was underrated compared to momota
1:18 young Momota!
How can you counter a smash style or style involving smash winners
And make a video on what to eat what not to eat before tournament
It's unfortunate for him how strict Japan is. He deserved another chance.
Make a video on how to play any stroke in same action
.
I read somewhere that he had never won a BWF tournament. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Kenichi Tago can even won over Taufik Hidayat couple of times
I'm 4th
but brotha still got absolutely shit on by lin dan
Ofc bc Lin dan the goat and tago has little stamina for long rallies which lin dan specialized
Like everybody else😂 , but he put on a good fight thou. His strokes are nice to watch

Unfortunately he was involved in illegal gambling activities and retired in 2016
Genius player but he fall for gambling
