Back out with the V80, first hunt since latest software upgrade, but EMI issues persist ;-(

- So Quest released a new software upgrade, supposed to improve an issue with ground balancing and overall stability... so I took it back to the field I'd had issues with EMI previously. Here's the outcome in the field.
Highlights include (AI generated this summary, I'm experimenting with it!)
Previous experiences showed the Quest struggled with EMI issues. This test aims to see if the update has improved its stability.
My view is the importance of confidence and stability in metal detectors can be key to a good experience. I'm willing to give the Quest more time despite initial issues, but my confidence is waning.
During the test, the Quest detector still shows signs of instability, such as excessive chattering and false signals, even at 60 sensitivity.
I find various items, including a possible coin, shotgun caps, and foil.
The detector is more stable when detecting actual targets but still too sensitive overall.
In comparison, the Versa, did not have similar issues in the same field.

A good honest factual video mate. Are you on the test team for it?? If not i’d be inclined to leave it in the car until another update comes out. Like you said you are probably missing things & to be honest it didn’t find anything small or find anything the versa wouldn’t of found.

Hi TC i was wondering what setting you have on the TX power setting and if that could do with lowering to calm the EMI. I Enjoy your videos mostly the Quest V80 ones as i'm a Quest Q30 user and was considering an upgrade to the V80 at some point. Thanks .

Hi Phil, I adjusted anything and everything that logically could have impacted stability. But nothing really settled it, even Sensitivity down to 60 wasn't entirely quiet. The problem is that the EMI wasn't that bad in the field, the machine just seemed overly sensitive to it. Not had a satisfactory response from Quest, TBH there support has been poor. Shame as there's lots to like with the machine.
Good ambassador for quest. you say how it is and explain issues during the hunt.

Yeah that's what I think too. I'll give them a chance.... But it was too expensive to not work properly.
I loved my Quest Q20 with the Cors Scout spool❤ but the V80 im in between hate and frustration.
They didn't sell well, because they couldn't provide new Machines, there are seller wich only got 4 V80 in the last 5 Months 😮.
The seller are waiting for the new delivery wich should arrive in Europe in February.
So I have to wait for my replacement 😢

Same issue with sensitivity.... Don't want to go down to 60 sens..
If I had the cash, I'd be on the Versa like a shot - but I've got to stick with my ORX Tony. Money going towards drones now! Thanks for the reporting.
Sell the Orx, get a Versa - problem solved ;-)
Mine does it too, but i do lower the sensitivity on the left side to arround 70 its O.K.
But i send mine back for repairs because of the Bootloop and the color comes off from the shaft.
Feels like i am a beta Tester for this device... the Q20 was a very good machine for about 250€ but this thing for about 600€ 😢
I was down at 60 and still having issues, hoping Quest sort things out
Hello . what do you recommend quest v80, legends, rutus versa
Personal opinion is that the Versa is the best of those three machines, then the Legend and then the V80.
I packed mine today and send it back to the seller.
It started with false signals everywhere.
I had to go down with the sensitivity to 15😮.
Hopefully they can fix it, there is no new machine available at the Moment 😢

@@tcDetects The machine feels and looks so good. The Carbon fiber Rod. The screen is so nice. The Headphones are great.
The small size when ist collapsed.
But the Software ....
When I dig something, I rest my detector leaning against my spade.
Then I pick it up and it acts completely different.
It's like I've changed all settings 😖
Yesterday I've done a factory reset 7 or 8 times.

You say that v80 is in standard settings in field HyperQ. Why didn't You made noise canceling? It is essential to get it work more stable.
I did noise cancel repeatedly, first thing I do once detector is switched on (as I do with the Versa)... Also ground balanced and then noise cancelled it again later...
Just a thought... is there a railway line nearby??.... this would undoubtedly effect the machine even at some distance?
Good idea but no rail lines anywhere near, nothing obvious really, as noted there were wind turbines a few fields away and that shouldn't have been impacting that far away... and whatever the issue was it didn't seem to be external as the Rutus Versa was running okay in same field. Quest have agreed to the suggestion of swapping the coil just to eliminate a faulty coil as a potential explanation.
wind turbines mine does it only on field with wind turbines in opposite fields, same as nox and f75 all 3 do it on field with wind turbines ,come of the fields its fine on any other fields who knows
Today i got news about my V80. It is a hardware failure 😢.
They will send me a new one when available.
There is a new delivery coming in two weeks.
Is that to fix the falsing everywhere?
Mine is similar issue, I might end up having to do the same...
@@tcDetects It's the false signals and rebooting issue.But Quest didn't see the rebooting issue because it didn't happen there
I would contact my dealership or Quest Europe (Kooistra) directly. But there aren't new machines for exchange available.
They should arrive in Europe in Two weeks.
They told me they sold about 300 V80 and I'm the first with such problems

It wasn't fun to use the V80 I rather Used my Q20.
I got false signals, changed the settings.
I Put my Machine aside to dig something ( leaning against my shovel) when I picked it back up it behaved completely different.
Sometimes I did a Factory reset 8 times on one trip 😖
