Hey, Dean. You better keep working out! A Australian record is out there. Just watched you fight and landing those huge fish is pushing the limits of equipment and of the fisherman himself. It's fascinating to watch. Another great fishing video Mate! Shawn from the States.
Great info and valuable advice. As always mate, thanks for sharing. That big girl at the start was a bulky broad, looked massive between the shoulders what a beauty. I've just transitioned in the last few months from heavy gauge hooks (because I've had to get over the mental thought of losing good fish), to lighter gauge hooks which has proven better penetration and hook sets. I've fought some 90+ saltwater barra correctly and haven't bent any trebles. Not too mention better action on hard bodies. Also mate, the deck looks so good!! I reckon that colour will even make the fish stand out more on the film. Nice work mate. Cheers Dean 👍🏻🎣
How good are DCs? The new flooring is schmick and I'm looking forward to the trolling video as I enjoy a not so wintery troll of an afternoon on windy woonga 👍
What would you like to know? Of all the motors i have owned its by far the most torquey and has great fuel economy often get higher than 2.3k per litre on my offshore trips, plus its quiet as a mouse. Its not propped for speed but i can still do over 80kph and get out of the hole like a jet ski 😂
@@DeanSilvester I suppose I'm a one eyed yamaha man. But I like the simplicity of the mercury design and the extra capacity. I'm eyeing off the pro xs in the 115 size. With Ct gearbox. Are you running the mercury digital display? Do you also use the adaptive trim control?
Hi Dean. Mate with your new Zodias 274XH do you feel it would be better to go a little heavier than the 42g lure weight or is it handling the 60 g Molix 140 pretty easy Thanks mate
Hey Dean, do you think the 274XH would go with a stradic 4000, for catching barra on the bigger size but also be suitable for smaller species, or would it be a better option to look a the 270H?
I would go the 274XH for barra mate, we have caught barra on the H but i feel if you hook a big one you are a little undergunned. Guess it depends on what lure you want to throw as well.
Hey legend, have't really sorted that out yet. At the moment it will be my 172H expride and the curado but will let you know when i do more of it what combo suits me the best
Do you reckon 70lb leader would be good for big Barra and also do u think the 5.5kgs of drag is enough for fishing around snags and pulling the fish up?
Hey, so since this video i have basically switched all my Barra reels up to the 300 size standard curado. They handle them well. 70lb is borderline depending on the brand and the toughness of the leader.
@ yeah look with the 200 curados dc model would they still be able to pull in the Barra the size of what you catch and if not from Daiwa or shimano under 700 dollars what reel would you use, thanks
Great to see you using Shimano gear now, love the Zodias range of rods, I’ve got a mix of the previous and current models including the rod you show in this vid, can’t go wrong with em for the price, they are very nice. Have a few Curado dc’s also, my go to bc reel, I grab them before my others that cost two-three times the price, can’t fault them. My young fella has the slx dc, also very nice….he loves the digi sound, as do I….😎 New deck looks schmick as….👌 That fish was a cracker, went like stink too.
Yep that fish was a hectic fight, so strong. I love that sound as well, don't know what people don't like about it! Sounds so smooth. Yep zodias seems to be pretty nice, loving the zodias spin so far. I have the SLX DC as well, nice reel also
@@DeanSilvester yes the Zodias are great bang for buck, particularly when they are on special. I’ve got a good mix of spin and bc from the ultra light up to xh in the later models and current, they’re good all round, light and sensitive with nice actions, they cast well, fight fish well and look good also, would love to see Shimano Australia extend the range and include some of the models they have OS. I’ve recently started to add a few Exprides to the collection, they’re a step up, awesome rods and also great value when on special. My young fella is still crook, I think he’s starting to spark up as of this evening, he’s itching to get out and use the lures you sent him, poor little bugger, I’ve caught him a few times lying in bed just looking at them. Hopefully we can get him out this weekend. Thanks again.

Thank you for tuning in and commenting!
why do you hold onto it still after you've put it in the water? 4:36
Why do you think a person would do that? To make sure water is going through gills properly and to make sure it’s revived properly maybe ..
Another great video.. keep it up mate 🍻
Thanks legend.
What size trebles you running on the 120 Molix ?
Hey mate, I am using size 1 and size 2
