      @@scotlandshistory There are a few museums up that way, the Court House in Cromarty is worth the visit too, although some aspects of the history have had a wee bit of dilution.

      The Black Isle is beautiful. And so much history in the area, we loved nipping up there for a few days, imagine it won't be long until we are back!

    Wonderful stories. Thank you for sharing about the history in this place. What a beautiful location. It must have been amazing to read and learn about those who were buried there over the years. I find it very interesting to read what people put on the headstones. You can sometimes learn a lot about the person buried there, or about how their family felt about them,

      A graveyard is a great source of social history. Probably why I spend so much time creeping around headstones 🪦

    The intricacy of the stone carvings is astonishing.

      They believe many would have been coloured, and some would have semi precious stones inset. They must have been a spectacular sight!

    What a wonderful place. So full of interesting history and with a beautiful view out to sea! The added bonus was the lovely weather that day, as Scotland has not fared well with good weather this summer at all. Thankyou both for all your travels, educating a numptie like me! >Tich.

      @@ExploringScotlandsHistory It certainly is. There's a museum on the outskirts of Arbroath that houses a lot of Pictish carved standing stones.

      @@AScottishOdyssey Martin isn't a big fan of the east coast so it will take some convincing for him to go, but I certainly need to explore some of the sites over there.

      @@ExploringScotlandsHistory There is so much to explore. Arbroath Abbey is definitely worth a visit. I do need to get up north more. I also need to explore the Borders more as well.

    Excellent video, I'd love to hear more about Eliza and her brother William. Did they get married, did they have children and are any of their descendants still alive if any?

    • @ExploringScotlandsHistory
      @ExploringScotlandsHistory  2 місяці тому +1

      Eliza became a governess, she didn't marry. William married a Scottish girl and emigrated to Buenos Aires.

    It is 2024 early fall . Yet like the last chapter of your presentation on mixed racial divide , has raised it's ugly head again of racial discrimination . I guess we as an so called intelligent evolving species haven't learned that history repeats itself . Your presentation wonderful. Gle' Math.
