These were the days.. Buick,Chevrolet,Nissan,Cosworth,Porsche,Jaguar. All with their distinct sounds. Thanks for the best video I've seen on You Tube in a very long time.
I am new to motorsports, can someone pls explain what does this group C, B mean? And what all types of car races are held all over the world? Like F1, rally?
Wow! The symphonies of sounds and music these cars produce are intoxicating ear candy. Different engines (V6 turbos, V8s, V12s) all create different instruments and sounds. And remember the glorious tempos of the rev-matching downshifts? Keep up the great work 👍
Group C, the best era of car motorsport ever. So many concepts of engine, and so many differents of sound. Not as today, allways vacuum cleaners bullshit. :(
Great to see the group c cars. I used to go F1 Back in the days of Keke Rosberg, Nigel Mansell and all, but it was already losing it. Switched to endurance racing, never went back to F1.
Yes, those of us with ears for things other than cross plane V8s and Screeching rotaries. The Cosworth has many different sounds, most of them very nice.
@@thethirdman225 That class seemed to be pretty competitive back in the day. I'm much more a fan of the older cars like these instead of the current. The current prototype cars don't do it for me.
Another fantastic video Bozz! I have to ask, how does one meet and network with these people to get to drive these kinds of cars? I want to drive some cars like that, and I have a background in competitive racing with cars of similar nature here in the USA. I was able to network here in the USA because I have instructed at so many private track days that people allow me the privilege of driving some really fast stuff. Is it similar over there or do you just to be crazy wealthy and own the cars? lol.
Honestly, I never thought that Buick or Chevrolet would have had any interest in group C let alone make engines for teams. Pretty cool how varied the field was back then.
Buick developed two engines in the early sixties, a V8 and a V6. The bosses stuck with the nailhead and sold of the V8 license to Rover. The V6 was the famous 3.8l.
Is this not Group C? Look, if Group C came back, there's almost no guarantee they would be anything like this. I agree that there needs to be a wider variety of engines, something Group C regulations pretty much ensured. Nobody loved Group C more than I did and I actually saw them, IRL. But the world has moved on.

@@Belgian-Motorsport okay, thanx!
@@superchargedv8146 Group B were rally cars, while Group C were prototype cars for long distance races. 24h of Le Mans, 6H races, 500km or 1000km.

Watching the aero kick up the water is so cool
The era where the sound of the cars alone make a goosebumps

Just about every engine configuration you can have Variety is the spice of life!! Superb video! We need this in f1 again!
Best video yet perhaps? Great variety of cars, some nice shots and terrific sound
Thanks a lot Tom
Cosworth V8’s have always had that distinct sound to them. Can instantly tell a Cosworth from any other engine.
Yes, those of us with ears for things other than cross plane V8s and Screeching rotaries.
The Cosworth has many different sounds, most of them very nice.
Never realized that Buick was ever in group c racing. That's cool.
Yes, they were partnered with a couple of different chassis manufacturers in IMSA. I'm not completely sure of their involvement in Group C.

Guys. Whats the green one at like 3:42 ? A Nissan ?
11:35 sb can till me if this is that a high reving v8 or v6? Leaning towards a v8 (sounds a bit like a v8 of the hillclimb protos with the zytek v8)
That should be a Spice with Cosworth V8.

hoh group C still alive 😢 love it 4:40
Yes the XJR11 ,this was the same engine that went into the 220. Originally from the 6R4.
wasn't the Buick V8 the same as the Rover V8?
Rover V8 was developed from the Buick as they bought the licence from Buick/GM
Buick developed two engines in the early sixties, a V8 and a V6. The bosses stuck with the nailhead and sold of the V8 license to Rover. The V6 was the famous 3.8l.

Just a legit question, though. Are these cars privately owned and raced? One would wonder where do all these cars go, once the season's over.

ALD C289

No Sauber? :(
Hope we get to see these things rip around bathurst soon, that will be insane :)
Unfortunately, the Sauber is a cult car now. If there was a Sauber in this video nobody would talk about anything else.
