I was actually at the Bengals/Falcons game where the guy in red stole the football (2:59). What they don't show you here is that he made it all the way up to the top of the stadium before he was caught. Afterwards, watching the evening sports reports on the local TV news, the sports anchor looked at the tape, and said, "Look at this guy in red. The Bengals ought to sign this guy up. They're offense has been so bad this season, they NEED a running back like this guy."

@@danielw2650 No, that was the year before. The Bengals went to the Super Bowl in '82 (season). The Bengals/Falcons game where the guy stole the football was in '83 or '84 (season). By that time, the Bengals were settling into their pattern of mediocrity, which (barring the '88-'89 season) they continue to this day.

I’ve worked security at NFL games in the past, and it’s actually a huge hassle if this happens. Obviously, you love the chance to blast a guy if he runs past you, but the aftermath usually isn’t pretty. The guy gets hauled down to the processing room and is usually held in a cell there until someone comes to the stadium to get them. Then you have to file a bunch of incident reports about it, NFL security guys usually get involved with the process, and that can hurt your rep as a stadium depending on how bad the incident is. So in short, yes, we love to annihilate the idiots that run into the field, but all the shit that happens after the fact sucks

I mean it’s fun and they’re amusing l. I was at a B.C. lions game (local cfl team) and a fan ran out on the field and danced with a couple players and everyone was cheering. But if then announcers and players start praising the people or encouraging them too much then suddenly you’re going to have 10 people running on the field a game.

There should be an official rule where anyone who runs onto the field should be fair game to be tackled by a 400 pound linebacker, thats the payment of fame
Believe it or not players can get fined / suspended if they interfere in that kind of way.. so that's why most of them ignore them
Some of these idiots want the attention so an actual football player tackling them would just be giving them what they want

4:47 I was at that game with my dad and we were sitting right next to that guy so we know the story: He and his friend were the most drunk guys my dad has ever seen. They would buy about 4 bottles of Bud Light, drink it all, then go back and buy more. They kept doing that throughout the game. Then one of them tripped and spilled some on another drink guy. They started arguing and fighting for a few seconds. About 5 minutes later, the one who tripped through his empty bottle at that guy and his wife went down to get security. When she got there, they refused to go. So she brought the two toughest guards in the whole stadium and that scared them. So they went with them and one of them ran onto the field.

Charles Hinkel, I know right. It was my first NFL game, and my first time in any sport seeing a fan on the field. My Broncos got blown out and missed the playoffs that Christmas Day, but it was a great experience.

I was at the game in Kansas City where the mascot did a belly flop on the runner, it made the ESPN top plays of the day. I was with my uncle, who was a season ticket holder of about 35 years at the time. He said he had never seen a fan on the field before that.
