- The US isn't blessed with the same depth and breadth of mid-range smartphone choice as Europe and the East, and with Google fumbling the bag with its Pixel 8a, there is a particular phone that stands out as an absolute bargain. A phone that smashes it in performance, build, display, and battery life. This is the OnePlus 12R 10 months later!
Just because Ryan likes his OnePlus 12 and it's his daily driver, doesn't make him a fanboy lolol people acting as if it's a bad thing to like a certain product... It's not like he ONLY uses OnePlus phones
You can't expect much out of pixel users, they buy midrange phones at flagship prices
@@Ignacio.Romero😂😂 nailed it. midrange phone at flagship price.. i guess this pixel people will settle for a phone if it have a good point and shoot camera and some gimmick apps. 😂
It does make him a fanboy when it's mentioned in literally every single video. 💀
I loved OnePlus back when they were actually good and worth the price. 6T was my favorite phone.
Any OnePlus now is a much worse deal than a Pixel, especially when it comes to software support and how low the Oxygen OS has fallen.
@@BojanTomic A fanboy is usually someone who is attached to the company itself, Ryan doesn't say that "OnePlus phoneS" are his favorite...
And it sounds to me that you do not like OnePlus at all. And you don't even feel like their phones deserve any attention 🤔

I have the OnePlus 12 good phone. I wish their software support was a little longer.
I think you and I will propably upgrade after 5 years
@@Ignacio.Romero they ended my Oneplus 9 support after 3 years
@@zacwong Just like the Pixel 6 released the same year
I too own a 12. It's a great phone. Although, I don't know why it would need longer software support? The average smartphone user keeps a device for 3-4 years on average. The 12 is supported for 5 years. However, if someone were to keep it for 5 years and run out of updates, all you have to do is open the bootloader and install a custom rom. The 7 years of support that Google and Samsung offers is a marketing tactic. Very few people will keep a device that long.
Yeah, 5 years are the sweet spot..more than that is gimmick & nonsense to fool users
I just hate that curved screen man
And i 100% agree with you, i hate it when an android brand tried to copy IOS so much, I'm buying android because i'm trying to get away from ios, why would i want my os to look like it.
But that being said, i still love oneplus, and i still cheer for them, i wish they were available here in Syria
I wish I could get a global/EU unit of the 12R or 12 here in India without any warranty woes. I really wish to buy one of them, but the green-line issues and motherboard issues that plague the smartphones here in India - especially with OnePlus - are keeping me away from them. Anyway, still rocking my 7T Pro since 2020 ;)
Does the green line issue also affect the OP 12 ? I thought that didn't happen anymore
@@nan_cat I've heard a few horror stories recently. It turns out that even the BOE panels used by OnePlus on Indian smartphones suck. However, OnePlus is offering free lifetime screen replacement on its phones in India, but there's no respite if you encounter a dead motherboard. Good luck paying half the price of the phone in that case, which is what's stopping me from buying one.
I have the 12R and live in California. So yes from the US it's a great deal especially as OnePlus gives you $100 trade in on any phone. I had a TCL phone that was free after 2 years of bill credits on T-Mobile so at 2 years I got $100 towards the 12R so I upgraded to the 256/16GB model. Overall I really like the phone, the curved sides make it feel smaller than it is. Software support is not as good as Apple , Samsung, or Google Pixel. Odds are though in a few years I'll trade the 12R for another phone. and BTW I am fine with Oxygen OS in its current form.
THANK YOU! I have no interest in wireless charging. It is not for me and having it doesn't matter in a phone for me.
I can never trust OnePlus again. Been burned too many times. I don't care how good their devices are, ultimately I *know* they'll manage to wreck it sooner or later. I still have a OnePlus 9 Pro that I tossed angrily into a drawer years ago and never want to look at again.
Why, what makes you feel this way
@@futureitshereprobably the OxygenOS/ColorOS merger
@@futureitshere I had a OnePlus 7 Pro McLaren edition. Turns out some of the hardware in that device was just different enough that OnePlus couldn't make updates for it in the same way as all the other OnePlus 7 devices. So my top-line most expensive flagship was abandoned early on with no more updates, while every other OnePlus 7 variant continued to receive updates for years. There was never any apology or restitution for that.
That was bad enough, but I tried buying back into it again with a OnePlus 9 Pro, because I fell for the Hasselblad connection. 6 months into ownership, OnePlus and Oppo operations were merged, and the OnePlus version of Android was unceremoniously replaced with Oppo's ColorOS in a forced update, with a whole slew of features removed, and stability taking a massive nosedive. I was suddenly rebooting my once-stable phone at least twice daily as it kept crashing.
@@nan_cat Absolutely. It basically rendered my OnePlus 9 pro useless, before I was even done paying for it. Also the abandonment of my OnePlus 7 Pro Mclaren Edition. All the other OnePlus 7s got updates for years, but the flagship? Completely abandoned less than a year in.
I have a OnePlus 12 and have been using it since the beginning of 2024. I am delighted
Curved screens shouldn't exist in 2024. Hard pass.
💯
Yup. Never again...
💯 also. I would definitely buy a OnePlus again if they went back to flat screens. It is a nightmare to protect and expensive to replace.
I agree! Another hard pass!
Yes it can & I'm loving it. Never had any complaints. You should maybe try it before you tell something that doesn't make sense
I just had the OnePlus 12 and that was a great phone. Caught me a little off guard but with no AI and the curve screen accidental touches puts them right outside the top tier bracket. They're right there though
Bought mine, and never had accidental touch since a full month now. And really AI? To me it seems like a gimmick that is fun now but will die
Some AI features like AI eraser and others are starting to appear in the OnePlus 12 recently.
@@sam_denni ok. OnePlus with AI at full capacity is a for sure bet! I just can't go from a Samsung or Google to OnePlus at the moment or Apple for that matter
Dont see why any of those ai features would be of any use, but to each their own i guess.
@@samuelhere41 yea that's clearly a fanboy statement. All the top brands has AI to some degree. Plus they are working on AI right now as we speak so it has to mean something
I paid $659 cad for my New OnePlus 12 after discounts and trade in. Price includeds 13% sales tax.
I have both Samsung and just purchased an unlocked version of the OP 12 & i really don't see why everyone's complaining. I'm really enjoying OP so far. Camera is decent but i have an 24u so no worries.
It's good to see OnePlus getting back in the game.
An absolute beautiful phone, but the cameras are a letdown
What was the game you played on it which looked like some boat racing?
at this point, everyone has a clear idea of who Ryan is in bed with...🤦♂️
In fact, it's not difficult to beat the performance of any tensor chipset.🤣 If it weren't for the fact that I already own a 12, I wouldn't have any reservations about owning the 12R.
I know multiple people who own Apple, Samsung, Pixel phones, but not a single person who owns a OnePlus. I'm sure they're great phones, but who actually buys them?
My friends and I have a range of OnePlus phones and have been buying them since the OnePlus One was released via invite only. They're great devices and a super alternative to the usual suspects...
I got one it's really good for 500 bucks
I know a friend who has been owning a OnePlus 11, has been his daily driver ever since, took his phone to Samarkand, and clicked beautiful pictures. Charges the phone with his adapter, to take full advantage of the fast charging. Is still rocking it happily, and would take it over any other phone.
for me oneplus died when carl pei left and they ditched oxygen os, I no longer buy oneplus anymore.
Yeah if I lived in the US I would have a oneplus probably, but since I'm from EU xiaomi it is.
Keep dropping one plus vids, Ryan. You've dropped vids on everything else and folks still had a moan. Might as well enjoy making the vid you make if people are gonna be pissed about it regardless.
P.S. yall should see his other channel where he uses phones other than oneplus, yall...sub and complain there too.
In Finland it's currently on sale for 499€, so it's priced similarly here.
Recently picked up my OP12 from the official site in the UK for £560. Pretty good deal considering that's less than then full price of a 12R. While I do like the curved edges from an ergonomic perspective, this is by far the most expensive device I've ever bought, and it's my first flagship, yet there's no good screen protectors and cases don't protect the screen well so I'm terrified
I miss my oneplus 7 pro it was the peak of OnePlus it had it all and it cost less
A massive high quality screen with no notch or camera cutout
A big battery that lasted all day and it had crazy good fast charging for the time
A pretty damn good camera that wasn't the best but wasn't the worst
A pretty sweet pop up camera
A notification switch
Oxygenos was nearly pure stock android but with more amazing features
It just had it all and it was my favorite phone
Agreed. 12r provides incredible value.
I’m an iPhone user and the only android device I could daily drive it its was Oneplus 8T they are amazing …. I like your honesty thank you
Oh yes, the regular OnePlus shilling video that we've come to expect...
I don't see what's the problem, would you like it better if it was him fanboying over a S24 Ultra like everyone else? I'd rather keep seeing brands competing in the android space
Get it smaller and without a no sense curved screen, and maybe we can discuss it.
You're a United fan? Haha, been watching you years and didn't know!!
I use wireless charging ALL THE TIME in my car, when I mount it to the magnetic charging stand. Going back to work charging in that situation seems archaic. Even if it's not a feature I typically use at home, wireless charging is absolutely a requirement on my devices
Curved screen kills it.

I'm steering clear of oneplus until they prove that they can actually update their older phones with stable updates in a reasonably quick time frame. I've been burned by them too many times. Their phones are great... until the next one comes out and the leave the support to the interns
I believe the Nothing 2(a) is enough for most people. No less than that, more sure your choice to spend.

s24 plus or s23 ultra? better choice? average user
S24 plus
23 ultra
OnePlus 13, wait for it
in terms of performance that they give, both are going to be similar, just go to a store, hold them both, if you like the bigger and boxier design then 23u if not, then s24+ is going to be the one for you.
It doesn't matter, you are an average user. Just buy whatever is cheaper
You're talking like this phone is perfect. The software support is really horrid! If you receive an update, and they usually take months to update anything, and encounter a bug that came with the new update, they will take months and months to fix it. Even if the bug is super annoying and interfere with the usability. One Plus has a horrible reputation when it comes to software, and rightfully so.
Im certain that a flat display would make this an even cheaper device but also a better one. Would allow for better cameras for sure.
Especially the ultrawide. 8mpix ultrawide lenses have been done to death 100 times over. And shouldnt be a thing outside like $200 devices.

Here in America, OnePlus phones are not nearly as well-known as iPhones or Samsung Phones. And it wasn't until the 6 Series when people really started buying Pixels. So over here, what the OnePlus 12 can do by comparison, it's pretty cool and unheard-of
Even with my friends, I'm known as the one with "the cool phone"
Watching on OnePlus 12 so smooth and value for money
I love that OnePlus is creating competition in the Android space, but this is not a good looking phone.
Great content, I'll pass on this one for 4 reasons
1. I have the one plus nord 3 and it's the worst phone I've ever owned, horrible battery life and performance, won't give them any more money
2. Buggy OS
3. Lack of clear AI direction. We're in an era where software is arguably more important than hardware, and I don't see any indication that one plus or any Chinese manufacturers have put any effort into AI
4. Curved screen
Better deal than most of the newer kits
No matter how much feature and performance rich it is if it has CURVED screen i straight deny the phone. Curved displays are pathetic in 2024
So I'm from the United States Yes on the retail market there's only Samsung, Motorola, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and Apple iPhone these are basically the major players. But but if T-Mobile is your cell carrier we can buy any global or international cell devices and it'll work on T-Mobile I can't say the same for AT&t or definitely not Verizon
And then there is me, here waiting for the Motorola Moto G75
Don't buy motorola they will explode
I don't understand the point of making a video about this phone now when the 13R is just around the corner, is going to be launched at nearly the same price as 12R, and will have sd 8 gen 3, bigger battery and maybe better cemeras.
Except for the fact that if people are not willilng to spend that much on a phone, then they can get the still capable 12r for about $100 cheaper and on the used market even around $200-250 cheaper.
Where can I get that wallpaper from?
Exceptional charging that will MURDER the longevity of your battery. The faster the charge, the more impact to battery health. I guess it doesn't matter if you keep your phone 12 to 18 months and switch like many do.
No, because it doesn't use USB PD that turns the voltage up to infinity. It balances out the power with more current instead of voltage producing way less heat. Plus it uses a split cell so each battery only gets half the wattage
@@Ignacio.Romero Okay. Hopefully you’re right then. At least one plus does include a charger in the box. Although I don’t love the fact that you have to use their charger to get max charging speed.
@@Ignacio.RomeroActually current is what produces the heat, heat increases by the square of current. So PD chargers are more efficient since they use higher voltage and less current. In One plus’s case most of the conversion happens in the charger and they use split battery to split the current back to normal levels
@@ArjunRavi You're wrong twice. First, the current capacity of a cable is determined by the heat it produces, i.e. the resistance of said cable, which is why VOOC cables are much thicker. It would produce more heat only if they were pushing more current using the same cable thickness. And secondly, phones heat up while charging mostly in because they need to step down the voltage coming from the cable to the 4 V or so of the battery. This is the main source of heat while charging as this process is not very efficient. By moving a big chunk of the step down to the charger, plus much thicker cables, is how Oppo manages to have their phones stay so cool while pushing such high wattages, a OnePlus 12 charging at 100 W basically only heats up as much as a USB PD phone at 45 W
OnePlus has the most greenling issue.
OnePlus makes Great phone and the 12 & 12 R are awesome. I have owned other phones Pixel, Samsung, Xaiomi, iPhone, Lg, BlackBerry. For the $ and the hardware and software OnePlus favorite.

No SD card, no headphone jack. Pass.
You're only going to find that on Sony phones or low end phones

Well, if the software support was any better then yes, would definitely prefer this over Samsung.

Wouldn't take it for free.
I am using one rn the OnePlus 12 24gb ram 1tb but if you play 120 fps games the phones will randomly drop to 55 fps then go back to 120 fps a after a minute a and the issue of OnePlus 12 thermal throttling at just 38 degree on all phones if you play games for more than 10 minutes the phone will lock at 55fps because OnePlus lock the phone to 55 fps if it pass 38 degree but day to day the phone works amazing but if you are a gamer I think you will have a better experience with the redmagic 8 pro
I hate to say it but OnePlus is slipping into the LG syndrome. It's a great phone, but it has terrible marketing. OnePlus has all the ingredients making a good phone but their marketing sucks.

Let's be honest. No one, and I mean no one is switching from Pixel to anything else on Android once they owned one. Yes, it has it flaws, but that's the same thing like Iphone user switching to Xiaomi. That's how it is for now unless Google fcks it up.
I switch from the Pixel 8 to the OP12R, and the 12R was better in every way even the software, that is more stable and less buggy then Pixel OS.

The back of the phone looks so ugly
Here's the issue I have with your reviews: you don't do them for adults.
You focus on price and battery life which I think are table stakes for any phone these days but you assume all the features that would make a phone viable for an adult living in today's society.
You don't focus on the call screening and spam filtering features that Google brings to the table which separates its lines from others. Nor do you talk about how fantastic the voice to text features are on the pixel line.
On the Samsung line you have the translation features that can occur live during a call which are amazing and acts as another amazing feature with separates it from its peers and competitorsin the industry. You also never talk about the device care feature which comes built into the phone which help keep Samsung phones running smoothly. You don't focus on the things that could, would, and should matter for grown people.
Instead you always focus on the price which isn't that much of a consideration especially for people who get their phones discounted through carriers here in the States, and you focus on how well or poorly they play video games.
These are great things to compare for children, and for people who have no other concerns, but for the actual adults who are buying the phones you are not talking about the features that would truly help people make a wise decision.
As an adult, I almost fully agree with his videos on OP. Sure, the price isn't much of a consideration if you're gonna be using the phone for a few years, but personally, I would throw my s22 ultra for a oneplus any day of the week.
I picked it up as a change (after my 5 year old oneplus), and I can definitely say that these videos don't mention the instabilities that samsungs have (which my onepluses have never had, I have had more than 5 of them).
Don't wanna sound like a fan-boy but all the oneplus reviews talk about how they're great phones for the price, and put the latest samsungs on a pedestal as the "best" phones. I have an s22 ultra and an s24 ultra, and I totally disagree (mainly for the stability and bugs)
The one thing that's a real issue for me with oneplus 12 is the design, looks like trash imho, open looks good though
And on the topic of the call speech to text and similar ones, they're pretty much only useful in english speaking countries, so for many non-english speakers those features are plain irrelevant; in terms of him focusing on gaming performance, sure those aren't really important since I don't think adults care and pretty much all flagships can run everything well enough.
Today I learned that caring about battery life is childish, and that true adults only care about niche features nobody uses like call translations
