Her version of this song hit the Billboard Country Singles chart on Aug. 3, 1991. I peaked at #9 being on the chart for 20 weeks. This same song entered the chart on October 28, 1972 for George Jones. He took it to #5 - it was on the chart for 16 weeks.

Don, there's not a lot of people that would take on such a heart breaking subject as loss like this. You've brought a lot of comfort and optimism to those around you in hard times where others might not dare. I think you've created a nice "Rockn2Country family" here. I've seen true blue love and support, and also bumps in the road along with the funny side of learning our differences's, but it's a nice place to be!

Oh,thank you so much.I've been waiting for this.
This is the song that makes me think of my late son,Randall.
He was 25 when he was murdered.Shot to death while he was sleeping.
    A sensless death.
What you say is so true.
There are no words to comfort a mother's loss.
I was devastated.I just wanted to die because part of me died.
This song is how I feel without my sweet son.

@Karen Partin It's humbling to try doing justice to such a song as this with such meaning to you, but thank you for trusting me to do something like this for you. I've known a few folks who've lost children, and they move on with life but it is never the same. The years it took them to smile again were the hardest, and sometimes it hurt them to breathe. I'm glad that you're able to come here and maybe get some joy in some ways, as I know the folks here are sensitive to that kind of hurt. Thank you again, and I look forward to seeing you around, as I always do. :-)

Very well said, Don!! Such a hard subject to talk about, but should never be overlooked or ignored... Beautiful Song and Lorrie certainly holds her own with the George on this one. Both versions are beautiful!
@Karen Partin I'm very sorry for your loss 😢 May God be with you until you can hold your son again.
My brother was crushed by a forklift he was driving at work, on his 19th birthday. My mother had just taken him a birthday lunch, right before it happened. I know how agonizing it was for me to deal with, but I know it doesn't even compare to the pain my mother endured...and still does 21yrs later.
My best friend was killed in a car accident 2yrs ago. Her brother died suddenly a few years before her accident. I couldn't even begin to imagine how a mother could handle losing 2 of her 3 children. However, their mother pushes through and lives each day for her daughter that's still living and her 5 grandchildren, and prays for the day when she will see her children again.
All of you mother's who have lost a child/children are the definition of inner strength and truly understand what unconditional love really means! With a strong faith in God, you continue to push through and focus on the glorious day when you will rejoice in His presence and be reunited with your baby. Even though you don't have him here with you, your love for him never weakens. It's the ultimate long term relationship that flourishes in everlasting love! 🥰 You will be in my prayers! May God wrap you in his love and comfort you with His presence 🙏
*Sorry for the long comment rambling 😊*

I don't even want to know the pain of losing more than one child.I don't know if I could endure losing another child.
Only through the help of God and people's prayers have I been able to live.It is hard at times, especially holidays, but I know that one day I will see my son again in Heaven.I look forward to that day.Thank you for your kind words.

@@SuperKaren1953 ... and what a glorious day that will be when we reunite with our loved ones in the Kingdom of God!! When my brother died, I was trying to grasp for any form of understanding and how to continue after the devastation wore off... It was explained to me in a way that has stuck with me and gave me a deeper understanding within my faith in the Lord.
"Each moment/memory is like a puzzle piece of our life story. Over the years, you add more and more pieces to your puzzle. Some puzzles have more pieces than others, but they are still complete and unique. When we reach Heaven, we will get to see our puzzle in its finished form and understand why each piece was so special, important and unique." I can't wait to see my puzzle!! 😍

Just wanna say, ive watched alot of different peoples reaction videos, and its pretty easy to spot the fake people that obviously have a disingenuous reason for doin the reactions, ive cut my list to about 6 or 7 subscriptions
Because of this! Now the one thing thats pretty evident when you've watched as many as i have that im sure in the money making seminars that u proly have to when you want to start doin this scheme tell you to say this! Ive never heard this song before, or of the band! 99% of the time its a bold faced lie said to deceive people into thinking its a true first time reaction! You said right before this one started! This particular song ill give you the benifit of the doubt on.
Its the people that say they have Never heard He stopped lovin her today! GJ. Please stop people you're killin me with that shit! Just do you!
That being said, you are in my 6! lol. And its obvious you wear your heart on your sleve, as do i, its completely ok to be a stong man and have feelings!
Those that poke fun at the emotions, will have a good time explaining how they got their ass kicked by a dude that was sheddin a tear because somethin got to his feelings!
    Just do U!

    • @RockN2Country
      @RockN2Country  5 років тому +2

@Jeff Fordyce Thanks man, and glad I made the cut!! Yeah, I can't speak for other people's motivations about why they do what they do, but for me I'd rather be truthful than appear smart. I mean, if I don't know a song, I don't know it and there's no shame in that. I've actually taken more heat for not knowing songs because some folks have posted that I'm an idiot for not knowing some pretty popular red-dirt songs. But I'm new to the genre since I started the channel as a Nashville-oriented reaction/review channel, then I started getting requests for more traditional stuff, much of which I still don't know. And the funny thing is that even though I want to listen to more of it, if I do then my reactions will become reviews because I'll know the songs, so I'm purposely keeping myself ignorant until I listen to a song on camera.
Thanks again for the kind words! As for kicking someone's ass for slamming me for having emotions, I'm pretty chill all the way around. I don't start fights, but don't mind finishing them if that's what has to happen. I have to say, I haven't been in a fight in thirty years, but I've come close once or twice at a football game when a few rowdy jackasses were going too far. Mercifully, reaction videos aren't very dangerous. Ha!!

Wow never heard that story but if that's the way it went down, then I'm with you. Not really surprised though...she is from Nashville where it's pretty much a requirement to trade your soul for a spot in the lights.

She felt really guilty over doing that tour.

tlbuddner Keith Whitley was an alcoholic for many Years...going into rehab several times only to pick alcohol over his family... They had a son together and he adopted Lorries daughter Morgan.... Lorrie wasn’t responsible for Keith’s drinking and she wasn’t responsible for his death .... Keith was an amazing singer wish he was able to get his demons under control .

@@lindacook4032 Good point Linda...I've seen it from both sides and neither walks away undamaged.

I never heard Lorrie sing this song. Hearing her again brings me back to my highschool days. Some I know blame her for Keith's death, but I feel that is a little unfair. Addicts are addicts for a reason. They choose to do what is harmful. No matter what others around them do.
