"May have accidentally started a war with Norway"
"Oh that was you?" it was delivered so casually, my god.
I guess Norway won that war in the end lol.
@@jerrywill8168 the guy was smiling for a reason while he said it.
I mean, wars aren’t that bad gameplay wise.
Considering how long wars last in-universe, though...well, let’s just say the Hundred-Years-War is kind of a joke in comparison.
As a Norwegian, I can confirm this.
Matt Hew What can you confirm?
"This is a Sumerian city now isn't it?"
"Norweigian"
Oh man, that was great. I love brick jokes.
I dont think that was a brick joke
it was a brick joke. he mentioned possibly starting a war with Norway earlier.
Oh was that him?
It's when a joke that sets a feature is told (often seems unrealted to the rest of the story) and after a while that feature previously introduced is used for setting a new joke.
Brick jokes were a staple of the golden age of the Simpsons. Nowadays, I'm not sure there are many shows capable of pulling them off, but these guys are among the better ones around.
"Landlocked version of Seahenge"
Almost got by me.
10/10
StyxTBuferd Oh so THAT'S why I didn't recognize the name of the wonder!
I guess they did cancel the Statue of Liberty after all.
its a civ 5 joke.sometimes when building stonehenge in a coastal city it will be built underwater
Which is why I said what I said.
"You can't just build wonders anywhere you want to anymore."
"Guess we have to cancel the Statue of Liberty then."
"That one's actually supposed to go in the ocean."
I was a big fan of Seahenge myself. The Great Pyramid of the Indian Ocean was also a favorite of mine.
RIP sailing. A nation may understand the intricacies of fission but why wood floats still stumps the best of minds.
Isnt it possible to get ironclads before getting sailing xP?
no, you need both.
no sailing as norway xd
Yeah, with certain great admiral
Same mystery with bread, Apple's, very small rocks!
norway never figured out sailing 10/10
-_Raiding got much easier since we have bombers and assault choppers._
no you see grease never figured out sailing but Norway only figured out sailing so they invaded from the sea!
James Gaiser Greece*
FriendlyNeighborhoodDerp actually if you look at the original spelling translated from ancient grease that is how it is spelt. Thank you though!
Citation please.
You discovered ruins: you find a cruedly drawn map
"I will never create anything this beautiful..."
But it's a crudely drawn map of the ocean..
Yes but that ocean has WHALES
YEAH WHALES!
A crudely drawn map with weird holes of ignorance.
whales? BAN THEM!!!
"So, you're a...Greek scout?"
"...This is a Sumerian city now, isn't it."
"...Norwegian."
That was singlehandedly the best joke I've heard all year
Lol, I love a Good 🅱️rick Joke!
Just started play civ, i dont know what this means, could u please explain it?
@@jadenstar1038 The scout started a war with Norway, so they took the city.
@@avrasoistaken I know that, but wtf is a brick joke.
@@jadenstar1038 A brick joke is a trope where the punchline is delayed. Like how the scout said that he started the war with Norway, then at the end the punchline is that the city is actually Norwegian and not Sumerian as he first thought.
the Scout still doesn't seem aware that he ended his own civilization. nice
When you have "complete kills" on
And neither did I until now.
Actually, if it took Ian that long to realize he was Greek, it means that Samaria won the war, and then lost to Norway. Ian didn’t know he wasn’t Samarian until he asked if they’d beaten them.
TheBigEevee *Sumeria / Sumerian
Alaaran Aranoya thanks, auto correct wouldn’t give me a straight answer.
I, for one, welcome our new Norwegian overlords.
TapCat I
bøy deg og pris oss, for vi er deres herrer.
TapCat I
Ayyyyy tapcat good to see you
Gotta add that TGT reference
ah the age old problem. imagine you where selected to be put in a deep freeze and sent to another star system to start a new colony, then some bright spark invents warp drive and you arrive Thousands of year later to find a fully occupied and established planet. You might feel like this poor guy :)
That's why we have the 50 (20? I don't know the exact number) rule. If it takes more than that many years to reach the place, don't bother. We are likely to invent something that would get there first in the meantime.
If you haven't yet, you should read Variable Star by Robert Heinlein/Spider Robinson.
Flappy Paddle in Mass Effect they have like a short story in the lore of that happening to a group of people
They do? I don't remember reading that.
... I should play that trilogy again before Andromeda.
just dont play andromeda
You’ve got to give the scout some credit. He managed to traverse the entire map and come back without being cornered and killed by barbarians.
Without ever getting on a boat either
Or being trapped within the borders of nations that you don’t have open borders with.
"I may have started a war with Norway."
"Oh that was you."
I love these videos. xD
and Norway aperently won it
"The City is fine, it just needs food,"
"Well, when doesn't it,"
Man With A Shoe My favorite line!
"why would anybody tear down a hundred years of progress just because somebody else did it first?" EXACTLY!!! As a person who tries to build every single wonder in the game, I can totally feel your pain!
As a person who always played as Egypt... I have no clue what you guys are talking about!
AwesomeSaus Protip: don't play multiplayer as Egypt. You'll be hunt down immediately.
Whatever: I always considered wonders to be something I conquer instead of build. Cheaper on my end.
bruh building wonders is my shit. that's all i do and all i want to do
I remember a time when I too built wonders. Then I amped up the difficulty and it wasn't all that feasible anymore. Sucks.

I'm picturing the fact that they never figured out sailing. And instead the Norwegian vikings take a greyhound to go sack villages.
This is a beautiful image.
i'll take Fan Art for $300 please.
I like how the throwaway joke of the starting a war with Norway joke actually lead to the city being taken over by Norway!
"I might've accidentally started a war with Norway..."
"Oh, was that you?"
LOL. Priceless.

Cayman Johnson insinuating they aren't the same thing.
Danielle Yost Ma'am that is some low quality bait.
Civ really makes you understand those Orwellian state rulers
why did u leave DI tho
So who nuked the city? I am placing bets on Gandhi.
Gandhi is in Civ 6?
_ VernerL _ yes
Ghandi has been in every Civ game. He might be the only leader to have appeared in every Civ game now that Victoria replaced Elizabeth...
well in this game series he kinda became a war monger er so...
actualy you are wrong about the racist pedo thing you might be thinking of another gandhi and yes there many many famous gandhis the one we know is mahatma gandhi and he was a man of peace...and extremely sexist but not racist or a pedo
But... But he couldn't have started the war with Norway...
He wasn't invading you. He was just standing there.
Standing there annoys people because it make them think you are ready to invade
Covena White this comment was a reference to their other video about that.
I gave the 1000th like! :D
@@covenawhite4855 the AI can do that to us but we cant say that to the Ai
I think they mean the scout tried to walk in the territory, then greece declared war on norway to get their scout through since they didn't have open borders
We would like to study this scout. His extended biological life could prove useful for our units.
The Collective but sir! All our units already have this technology! Just speak to that warrior over there! He's been sitting outside the Capital since before that scout was born!
The Collective fool. The scout survived not on his own biological powers. On this earth, the very world seems alive. It will respond to the prayers of primitive villages. It wills iron and similar resources from its crust to the surface for the empire that entertain it the most. And do you really want to invade a planet with immortal demigod rulers, endless armies, and a planet that lives unto itself?
We would not be against the idea
study the leaders, they never die
Her read that with her voice.
Wait, Norway didn't bother with sailing?
they were conquered by norway, It could be a recent conquering.
"Recent" in Civilisation terms (Marathon) ... about 700 Rounds ago.
Yes, but the citizen is(/should be) talking for the Norwegian people.
Not if they were a Greek citizen talking about that city in particular.
In real life, when you conquer a city, do you kill all its denizens and replace it with people from your civilization? No, you just say "This is ours now, you belong to us."
So it's very feasible for a Greek citizen to be speaking on behalf of the Greeks.
Ocean tiles are just absolute garbage in Civ6, so yes. Even Norway doesn't care about it.
the end killd me😂

Civilization Fun Fact: Ancient Ruins have mysterious teleporters that they can use to send things to the nation that first found them.
As a side note it would be interesting if goodie huts could create units that you'd have to guide back to a village in order to recieve a reward. Though now that I think about it making things more realistic does not equate to making it a better game, so..... I don't know where I'm going with this anymore.
GreatDerpression Everyone hate escorts missions in general games. God forbid it get placed in a game like Civilization 6. >.>
komo307 Oh, dont remember me. I still have nightmares of escorting the dammd Mule squad in my flight simulators. F16 F22 Mig29 dont matter the simulator there is always a stupid as hell Mule squad to protect. Fun fact is that in Brazil we call dumb people Mule so I always thought the name was accurate.
Sid Meier's Colonization game had that as a feature. The goody huts were Indian burial grounds. Within them you could find nothing, a colonist from a lost colony, the Fountain of Youth (which gave you like seven or eight colonists in your European port), a small amount of gold, or a large amount of gold.
The small amount of gold you just pocketed immediately, but the large amount of gold was actually a unit that you had to send back to a colony in order to transport to Europe. And the Indians always tried to attack it. So if you did find one, you really had to escort it back to a colony because unless the gold was really close to one of your colonies, you were bound to come across an Indian unit at some point in the trip back.
The colonist from a lost colony also spawned in place, but unless you angered the Indians with your disturbing their burial grounds, they usually left them alone, even though they were civilian (i.e. unarmed) units. You could even send the colonist into an Indian village to learn one of the skills that the Indians could teach your colonists.
@@Belleplainer that was the game I was remembering thank you i had forgotten it!
@@komo307 Heck, building new settlements is _already_ an escort mission.
Guys, these videos are incredible. They have an amateur taste to them that makes them so great. The writing is fantastic. The jokes are well-thought and well-delivered. I hope you continue to make skits like these and that your channel keeps growing. This is my favorite channel by a long shot.
Thanks so much! We love doing what we do, and we plan to continue doing it :)
I literally just found this channel at like 8:00 last night and have just finished the bingewatch playlist and the community comments season two playlist and as I am finishing the last community comments video this pops up in my notifications.
And as with every video this proves to be just as excellent great job guys 😎

If the city is norwegian, how was 'started a war with norway' reacted to in such a casual manner?
yd12k 'cause it's ancient history
Because his nation didn't exist anymore. Not really a threat then, is it? :P
I mean more in not yet realizing they weren't norwegian
Because his own country could've reacted the same way and it happened a long time ago? I mean, how would you react if you were idk from New Mexico and someone started talking about the war the Americans started on the Spanish in that area to actually conquer that part that now belongs to the US? You would shrug it of no matter if you were Spanish, Mexican or American I think XD
That's the joke lol, he started the war that led to the downfall of his civ :P. That's why the dude goes "ah so that was you".
"I may have started a war with Norway
Oh was that you!?
...
So you're a Greek scout?"
Although it was VERY funny something about the time it took Ian to realize it was another nation scout still bugs me for some reason.
No, I think he thought the scout was Sumerian. It was the realization that the scout was actually Greek that surprised him. Basically, by the time the war with Norway happened, the Greek empire had already been wiped out by the Sumerians.
@@SadisticSenpai61 I think the opposite I think he thought he was a Sumerian that started a war between Greece and Norway otherwise he would've had that realization earlier thinking they took over his country
Folks, the man is civilian, he doesn't know or care about unit identification. He is but a +1 number near city name, or a green circle above tile worked by him.
HOW DID NORWAY NOT LEARN SAILING
How did Norway even achieved a single victory?
Grumpy # domination by taking coastal capital on island map at start with boat spam+boat Mormons?
I actually had a game recently with some friends where Norway (AI) was dominating everything. Scoreboard was Norway at 500 points, me at 400 and everyone else at around 200-250. So when I was gearing up a giant army, everyone ignored me, because they figured I was going to attack Norway (They kept on denouncing me for not having a Navy.. on a Pangaea map). Then I killed all my friends.
Ser Smiles
ITS HARD, OK!?!
Probably because the late game ships don't need sailing
He started the war with Norway and now Norway has captured his country, lol
So at least Greece is still out there somewhere, forever cursing Kyle Scoutington's name...
n o p e
I like to believe they were beaten by Sumeria who was then beaten by Norway lol.
Perhaps they had the option on that to be destroyed a civilization has to have all cities AND units to be gone. Happened to me in civ 5
"Actually, we are fascist now. We were communist yesterday..." what is this, Hearts of Iron?
I guess so
Nah, more like Victoria 2 but replace yesterday with last month
nah more like victoria 2 but yesterday was last month
Yes
Dear Scout, you lost your dog.
But rangers still have dogs....
He replaced it with a cat :)
so Norway never discovered sailing? interesting.
Matt Hagen They arent norway they just got conquered by norway.
Dino li which makes them Norwegian
Matt Hagen he'd probably be speaking in behalf of the Greeks. You don't kill everybody in the city and move in.
Alex R yeah, but he dosen't know that the scout is greek. And since this war probably happened for a long time ago, they would be speaking as a part of the Norwegian people.
@@alexr6705 not everybody, but talking over a city does include a bit of population decrease... and the remaining citizens suddenly forget all knowledge of their old history and learn all the fancy new sciences of the conquerors. ;)
For real, just make more of these. Civilization is by far and away your best catalogue.
This is really the only UA-cam channel where I can click like and then watch the video because I know it will deliver :)
Aw, that's so nice! :D
I hope one day you will create some new sketches about World leaders. They are my absolute favorite in your Civ series. :)
We have one planned :)
I'd love to see one about Kikongo whining about not having other people forcefully implement their religions into their country.
I denounce you.
I denounce Dan Menard
I denounce all of you
Plot twist! The scout goes to Ikea to use the time machine in an effort to fix everything only for Greece to be pointed out as a fucking cheater. :3
Pyroskies Game Reset :D
at least he was dedicated to his job
Will all the Civ 6 videos eventually combine into one story, like with Civ 5?
at 2:30, "I may have started a war with Norway" "Oh that was you?" End of the video: "This is Norway". This guy didn't bother to correct the poor scout.. How rude!
"I may have started a war with Norway." AHAHAH
"This is a Simaran City isn't it?"
"Norwegian"
beautiful
I have no words to how brilliant your writing and humour is. Keep it up.
Thank you!
I've never played CIV VI and I only have like 2 hours on CIV V but I still find this hilarious.
The fact that it's Ian both times Kyle is talking to a citizen makes the video that much funnier. Keep up the great work!
That can't be a norwegian city. In Norway, interrupting a stranger and talking to them is punishable by death. Everyone knows this
Norway does not have death sentencets
Cyan Cat i don't get the joke... And even the guy who killed tons of teenagers and placed a bomb in Oslo didn't get a death sentence.
theACM gamer It's a norwegian in-joke. It's considered rude to interrupt or inconvenience strangers in public. One person from another country said that on the bus in norway you get the sense that someone widely beloved has died every day because everyone is so quiet and solitary in public
I think the explanation may be found in the following line: "Actually we are fascist now, but yesterday we were communist so that might change." I sense that this Norway is very arbitrary with which laws are on the books a given day.
Cyan wow that makes me want to move to Norway.
Ian is squinting the almost the whole video ;)
(-_-)
😑❤
>Implying Norway could successfully capture a city.
I've been bedridden with the flu the last few days and binge watching nearly everything on your channel was extremely entertaining. I'd only really seen your Civ stuff and a few other skits, but watching everything showed me several others that were gold. Everything is so quotable. Keep up the good work!
Happy to help make your sick days less miserable :) Thanks for watching!
I really like these because even though I've never played these games, the humor still hits hard. They're incredibly funny
"Might of accidently started a war with Norway. "
"That was you?" XD
And also just a few spare warriors, still alive from the ancient era
Ok damn the twist killed me, I'm gonna have to check out the rest of your stuff.
Welcome to the channel!
I think may be my favorite Civ sketch by you guys! Well, my favorite Civ sketch period, but if it's made by you guys, that's implied by the first sentence.
the set up with the war with norway and then it turns out they lost is amazing.
Fuckin A+ quality as usual. I actually watched it twice in succession. You know you're doing something right when you're almost at 500 likes without a single downvote (probably shouldn't have brought that up).
This awkward headscratch was a genius punchline-delivery!
For some reason, this reminds me of when my brother first introduced me to Civ I. I was sick, and he turned my computer towards my bed (this was before laptops and flatscreen monitors.) And he started playing. And I fell in love. Then, when i was better, I started to play. I'm pretty sure I got sacked by barbarians.
How is it that I can watch the same video 6 times over the course of a year, and every time I catch some small yet hilarious detail that I missed?
Can you guys do more Kerbal Space Program or did the Kerbals destroy it completely?
Artsicle The Kerbal is in the Army from what I understand
Artsicle I think they accidentally fired off the final stage of a missile they were launching for the military....while it was still on the launchpad.
Artsicle: One time KSP glitched on me during a reentry, my pod accelerated to x150 the speed of light and destroyed Kerbin. And then it autosaved. Great.
I do believe that they have decided they are done with that unless they decide they want to do another one. This is characteristically vague of them.
+WindowHero You're starting to develop a dangerous understanding of how we work.
Once again, the punchlines in your videos are amazing.
Also, that scout caused his entire civilization to be wiped out. That's gotta take some skill to fail that hard.
THIS IS HILARIOUS XD
After finishing the Binge Watch Playlist after my friend showed me you guys, I can't wait for more everything, especially Kingdom Hearts, Civ, and and literal punchlines.
If you want check out their second channel too! Plus they stream live every now and then and interact with fans, so plenty more beyond what's in the binge playlist to keep eating up your time! :)

Leon GunSteel that's what the uranium resource looks like
KM Chang he said it was the radiation fields. And it wouldn't be as big if it was a uranium mine.
theACM gamer well but AFAIK fallout glows orange in civ, while an undeveloped uranium resource does look like a glowy green field. but ymmv
KM Chang that is true, but not only would it not be a very funny joke if it was pointing to a uranium tile, but DoorMonster haven't played much of civ 6 yet. So it is highly possible they don't know about the orange glow.

Lets be real here, do scouts ever return?
My scouts don't.
Mine typically run out of stuff to explore at some point, if they live that long. Then I just send them to the capital until the end of the game. Sometimes I find a distant tribal village in the modern era and they have a job again or something.
I'm clicking through these videos so fast I can barely remember to like them all.

oh my god you make the games seem so much better. I'm also amazed at how your civ 5 videos are flowing
If this video was filmed in an urban area, why was the last comment response in what looked like a dried up river bed?
That was for a DnD video that we're holding onto until the Monday after our first Pathfinder stream.
Nice observational skills, did you put points into view distance for your upgrades?
Jones Crimson Nah, putting subtitles in just means I was watching the video for long enough for that to register. Also I took the observant feat... Wait, crap, they're playing Pathfinders, that works different.
How is it you've gotten far enough ahead to be holding onto videos? It always seems like you're pressing to get videos out on time.
Oh, we're not ahead. We just delayed the stream, so we didn't want to release the video yet.
The is the first Door monster vid ive seen and you gained my sub. I know what im gonna binge tonight!
Yay, welcome aboard! :D
Its happening.. You guys are growing in subs fast.. Quick! Remember me! Soon we will be too many and you will not be able to address us all!
There's already so many! We really hope we're able to maintain a similar level of personal communication as we continue to grow. But your name does seem quite easy to remember, so that's good.
I can see it all now. Soon you will pass 100k and before you can say: "that kid looks sick", there will be merchandise with inside jokes like "Terracotta Army" with Venice holding his fingers together on a T-shirt.
