    One week is really tough for most brands, so I'm impressed that 9 sold. J. Jill is a bread and butter brand that I pick up often, but it does not sell quickly. But most of my bread and butter brands are slow movers. Fun experiment :)

      Agree...are things supposed to sell in a week? Sometimes I sell things in a day or a week but most items need some time. And if I find the right buyer, and it takes a while, I'm good if the profit is there.

      Agree with both of you. I’ve sold stuff in a week, but usually is stuff I’ve held on to for months before listing. I’m terrible, I know! 😅😂😅

      @@Solacefoundandcurated I list right away - I don't have a death pile but I don't understand the expectation that items "should" sell in a week - it's not like we're a grocery store! Or, that it was a "bad buy" if an item does not sell super quick. :-)

    Ohhh I think that was a rare & sought-after Vs Pink sweatshirt! I’ve seen people looking for that in the PINK fb groups I’m in. I think people pay up (like $80-$100) for that one. Someone definitely got a good deal!

    I’d be curious to know if listing the higher items low made any difference in offers. I get the sense that people offer the same sorts of percentage off regardless of what the item is actually worth. So if they see something listed at $20 they automatically offer $15 even if the market price is $40. If they saw it priced at $40 they’d offer $30.

    • @RobinGKT
      @RobinGKT 2 роки тому +1

      I kinda agree with you. I’m not an “all in” seller but, when I do make my store active, what I have found is that if I turn on best offer with a set BO price, the buyer will automatically figure out how low I’ll go then offer that price.

    I think it was brilliant. I would like to see if you raised the price on the items that have not sold if they would sell with in 7 days. I have done that on etsy and was shocked to see they sold. I love that crunch the numbers for us. I guess I will try market place. I have bought off there but never have sold.

  • @definingstyle145
    @definingstyle145 2 роки тому +7

    I love your experiment videos! The thing that surprised me the most, was that your eBay fees were actually higher than your Poshmark fees on some items. Do you use calculated shipping on ebay? I do, and I use the money I "save" on using the the difference they charge me (discount rate) vs what they charge the customer (market rate) as a reduction of my fees, so my fees tend to be lower on ebay. I've always wondered if this was correct, but at least I have been consistent and my calculations, so my year over year numbers at least make sense to me. another question I would have is what do you think your sell-through rate was on these items versus if you would price them all individually. from a marketing standpoint, I do think a $20 store is a great idea if you can find enough product. I'll be following to see what you decide and other experiments you do. hope you are well. tfs

    Great video!
    I definitely feel when it comes down to online resell that having a crap ton of items in your store with free shipping at a good price is the most effective.
    Also you want to make sure you get all your items for pennies on the dollar so you have wiggle room to accept offers and be ok with little profits on a lot of items.
    Just my two cents lol
    Love your videos. Very informative :)

    This was such a fun experiment ~~ and if you are able to get your inventory at a low enough price point then it is definitely worth trying. And to have a decent sell through rate after only 1 week is great. I think it is a fairly low percentage of items that sell within that period of time (on average). Unfortunately right now, I cannot seem to get anything to move. I have all but given up on sending out offers to likers on Poshmark. I just don't have the success that I would expect to see to make it worth my time. Last night I sat and delisted all of my active listings (and before you gasp in shock and horror, just know that I only had about 40 items listed). Until such time as sales improve on that platform and buyers get over the silly notion that they are going to get crap for next to nothing, I am going to scale way back. This is really unfortunate since I am sitting with a den and a closet full of inventory that I cannot seem to give away.

    Loved the video, and an exciting experiment. With the slow down of summer, and listing a few Fall/Winter items, I would be interested to see if you were to rerun the same experiment at the end of Summer, into the Fall, you might see a difference, especially with the wrap dress and jeans. I have A LOT of jeans listed and have sold one or two in the past month, but I don't think others are looking for those items at the moment (or at least the number of people looking has gone down).

    This is close to the model I use. Since I shop exclusively at the bins, I price almost everything at $19. I’ve heard that when prices end in 9, it does something to our consumer brain that makes us feel like we are getting a good deal. Despite this tactic, I still find I sell few items at the $19 full asking price :(
    Possible that I just need more patience, I get antsy for quick turn around times on items.
