    Pro tip when fleshing excess fat off the bear hide. Work from the tail to the head. All fur hides are directional. This will help you not put holes in the hide. Great podcast and tips stay Gritty

    Awesome vid! Keep the information coming guys! Really helps. When you are done with the spring bear hunt would love to request a video breaking down the freeze dried meals you guys prepped for the carnivore diet and maybe a rundown of the freeze dried process! Thanks gents and good luck this year with all the hunts! Looking forward to all future content.

    The standing at your desk with a pack is genius! More time under tension. Thank you for the tip!

    Good idea with the standing at a desk with a pack. I started last year stepping up and down a set of two stairs I put in my living room with a pack on while watching tv. Made quite a difference on my fall hunts. Also I do it barefoot to build foot and ankle strength.

    Sharpen knives, clean optics, check batteries, check scope screws, once over your hunting rig…it’s always stupid small things that cost valuable time when you’re trying to optimize. Stay Gritty

    Much respect to you guys and all that you do. Thanks for continuing to provide the content!
    Edit: the gun purists may come at you for the use of the term "clips" at "59:00".
    The correct term would be magazines. Clips were used in the M1 Garand.
    That being said, again appreciate the content including nutrition, fitness, different packs, load outs, etc. Keep it coming!!

    For something that requires heavy pack outs, horses/llamas/goats make sense. Boning out one bear per guy doesn’t really warrant it.

    Bringing just one rifle for three guys on a rough hunt like that is a real gamble! One bad fall and a broken scope and you’re all F’d. We go through this same dilemma on similar hunts here in AK, for sheep especially. Not everyone needs his own rifle but, it’s just too easy for one to become none! I’ll cut my food and fuel, even my handgun before I cut my rifle.

    Great content, as always! Question... I know you have both Caribou and Mule Alpakarafts. Besides weight difference, what are the pros/cons? I'm debating between the two for my solo backcountry hunt raft for spring bear this year.

      @GrittyGearAndPodcast  3 місяці тому +1

      If you are only using it to cross water ways then I would go with the caribou. If you are wanting to actually float down the river for miles the mule is better. The mule has a 500lb capacity and the caribou has a 400lb capacity.

      Two things can be true at the same time. I can hunt for the joy of hunting and being in the outdoors AND I can make a living from my skills as a hunter, cameraman, filmmaker, podcaster, and business man. My motivation isn’t to be popular or rich or famous-those are by-products of striving to make a meaningful difference people’s lives.

    I packed a cow elk hind quarter and two front shoulders using a Metcalf.... the frame was feeling iffy. 6 miles later made it to the atv. There was Manny stops on the way. An ? Should I drop an come back . There's no rush. Take your time get er done.
