No the Growler is not the successor of the SuperHornet, the Growler is not a fighter, it’s an electronic warfare aircraft, its role is to jam enemy radars and to destroy them with anti radiation missiles. Unlike the Superhornet it does not carry a gun.
It is a Super Hornet though. It is just a different variant 🤣. It is just fitted out with different equipment from the factory, If you want to get real technical it is a F/A-18F Super Hornet with different avionics and Equipment. The only real significant change is the vertical stab that housed the antennas.
It does carry air to air and air to ground missiles though, and are specifically used for wild weasel missions if I'm not mistaken.
@@Darkfuturist You are correct. The Navy has 5 squadrons attached to an expeditionary group that provides electronic warfare service for the Air Force. The EA-18G also needs no fighter escort as it can defend itself. 👍
If anything, it’s a replacement for the EA-6B Prowler. The similar names aren’t a coincidence.

It is not the successor to the Super hornet but rather the EA-6B Prowler.
A very important jet that can be warranty for victory in a conflict. The others do not have such an aircraft. It was a game changer in the Cold War and apparently ist very, very effective!
