I appreciate going into this little niche of Beam. Providing an educational experience instead of an overdone crashfest or people that just slam more power into engines and call that fast
Honestly i am one of thoose people who loves to see cars crumble like aluminium foil on games, but i can't deny that i always wanted a tuning community on Beam because it's a lotta fun and it is no secret that the stock tunes are never even close to ideal. I had plenty of fun attempting to build hot rods, trackers, and street tuners, and i will keep doing it.
I slam power and yes it is fast in a straight line but I still put steering
Okay so I tried to make a car for top speed and when I tried messing with gear ratio that's when I realized that I am the last person you should consult when it comes to any type of tuning because I'm pretty sure I have committed every single automotive sin whichever existed
@@tdm_nicky5603yeah i only just realized that you could do the total drive thingy
@@tdm_nicky5603and i defenitely didnt know how to do the steering
All big lies, obviously the color change is what made the difference.
Wow! I did some tuning on my own by trial and error but an actual explanation on how each setting will impact the car handling makes it so much easier
This applies to Sim Racing too most times, and the effects are just or even more notizable.
I'd love for you to do different tunings for all the cars and types of driving in BeamNG and have the company include those in the game
Yeah, or maybe the dev should ask people like erwin to make a tune for a new car, so it races better ^^
My engine is just exploding (what did i do wrong?)
@@shrimp_studiodepends, which car and engine is?
I really would like to see a long diffucult video about suspention tuning based on physics, telemetry etc.
Since this game have replay, slo-mo and UI apps, we have potentially analyze this stuff.
It's a challenge for me, to make a rally car which is fast in corners, but also is stable on bumps.
The problem with rally cars is that the driving style also matters a lot for the tune, wich means that sometimes rather than having a good handling tune you need to adapt to something worse in order for the car to be capable of surviving some sections. Modern rally cars are a bit of a mistery to me though, i only know about the ones between 2005/1997, so this might not be completely true today.
YES YES YES! This is just what I needed, this vid is going straight into my favs. After 2K hours in Beam I still know nothing about how to properly tune a car, this will round it up nice and smooth. Thanks Erm, youre awesome!
How'd you play for almost 3 months yet never felt compelled to use the tuning tab? lol
Great video as always Ermin. You deserve so many more subs for the quality of content you put out.
You are genuinely the best Beamng UA-camr out there. The quality. The editing and the car science. Its an informative video yet you made it super entertaining.
One of the things i enjoy the most on Beam is creating my own builds, wether they are street cars, trackers, derby cars, odd iterations of vehicles, or just absolutely wild and unrealistic powerfull beasts. There are plenty of parts mods that help with this, like the "more superchargers mod" wich lets you go WILD and shove inhumane amounts of power onto any engine, the ultra radiators, wich makes thoose engines never melt, customizable grip tyres, more bodykits, aero, etc. Every beam player should mess with the tuning and parts menu, you don't need to make good tunes, just have fun :D
get agent y engine mod, it lets you do whatever you want with engines, like swapping a truck engine for a V10 from a super car
@@squidwardo7074 while that swap is a fun idea, i have already done something better: the engine in the truck can take FAR more abuse without indestructibility mods, so twincharging the T series with the supercharger mod is more effective. I have gotten mine to around 350Mph but the tyres just can't grip enough to get proper acceleration, it's still a 7.3 second pass on the dragstrip with AWD. I'd like some truck tyres and suspension with more adjustability
@@Ferrari255GTO yeah ive tried doing 4wd conversions on cars that shouldnt (pigeon) and I always struggle with getting the transmission behavior to work properly
You're almost at 100k i hope you grow more and make more beaming videos. LOVE TO SE IT
In case you didn't know, you can remove the steering wheel and position the camera so that you have a proper cockpit view. In the settings, remove steering wheel and check "free camera" or something like that and then you can adjust the camera with W and S and Page Up and Page Down.
Finally some BeamNG.
I always wanted to learn in depth tuning in it :D
Great video. Describing what needs to be done, explaining the tune, then showing the results.
Remember, the alignment values are relative to the adjustment range, NOT absolute. Zero percent doesn't mean zero camber. Turn on live wheel data in the tuning screen or add the alignment UI app to see the true alignment.
Thank you for making this. This is really helpful. This kind of information isn't easy to find in relation to a guide to this game, especially not this put together. I know these videos are a lot of work, but I would like to see more stuff on tuning AWD cars.
this is actually such a helpful video i use it as general ideas of how to tune in beam ng. you should do another updated video on this or do a series of how to tune FWD, RWD, and AWD and for certain types of situations
Yes more beam stuff. I absolutely love beam content like this. Keep it up
That's extremely educational. I'll definitely use those tips in GT Legends that I'm currently playing through.
YES!!! New BeamNG content. Waiting for .25 update is torture.
I've been looking for a video on this for a long time! This was amazing!
Really good video, loved it! Looking forward for more of this with different cars and tracks. Keep blessing us with your awesome content !!
Professional drifters actually use positive rear camber sometimes. Since the car is on full squat for the majority of the run, they compensate for that. Not always tho, depends on the course
This is extremely helpful for me, I make a lot of police chase/getaway videos, I have a whole series on my channel actually, but im building a car that needs to have great handling, has a V8 with nearly 600 horsepower, rear wheel drive, and needs to be high enough to jump kerbs and onto sidewalks, this is definitely proving to be a challenge but im getting it pretty dialed in so far
So well explained, very useful video even for tuning cars in other sims!
Bro this is the best tutorial ever. Just what I was looking for.
Big detail that was missed here, the camber adjustments in the tune section are NOT absolute. A camber of 0% does not mean the tires are dead vertical, it means they havent been adjusted. Depending on your spring height, wheels, and tires the camber actual changes.
The tuning of camber then adjusts from this value. If you really want solid details on alignment you need to enable the alignment UI element. It gives you the actual alignment of the wheels, not the percent value of the adjustment.
Oh my god, thank you Ermin. I have been trying to figure out the damper tuning thing for DECADES and haven't been able to find a satisfying explanation of it ANYWHERE. That's going to make me SO much more effective at tuning. XD
So when are we going to see the Scintilla lap on Nurbergring? ;)
This is an absolute godsend of a video
Very helpful and great guide. Because of the help from this guide I have managed on Hirochi Raceway Long course in a Custom config Moonhawk I made cutting time down from 1:50 to 1:36
I personaly love tuning road cars. Could you do a video on general suspension tuning for things like, offroad, onroad, baja, street racing, how to deal with bumps. Just a general guide to beamng in depth supension tuning.
This is the most useful guide on a car setup in BeamNG ever. Thank you!
This guy can teach me more about how cars work than my school
That's because schools don't teach shit. I learned english at home browsing the internet after the education system failed for 6 years straight
@@Ferrari255GTO exactly, school is sh**t
Not necessarily
@@frostydrifter well, does school even teach about how cars work?
@@gombka1144 my school had an automotive class atleast
Really Helpful
I basically saved the Covet MR Turbo following this advice.
The stock config was nearly undriveable with oversteer. Felt like the back had no grip.
I overcompensated though and now it understeers. Refinements required.
The Ridge Race Type 4 track song behind !
I can hear some good influence here !
Even as a keyboard player, I was able to apply the ideas from this video to improve my driving experience! Thank you! I would love to see a video going into the depths of tuning using telemetry and slowmo replays.
This video is great i love it and i hope for more like it in the future
Thank you for your tips. This game really does have some amazing potential for sim racers.
once again best worded and explained functions very easy to grasp and get.. thanks for the instruction vid ..cheers mate
Very detailed explanation.
I'm going to apply your theory to tweak my car setup on assetto corsa.
very well done and well presented video good for people with different amounts of knowladge
Thank you! This is what we needed :)
If I understand it right, Negative camber would be used when you expect the suspension to be squeezed when you need traction, the wheels would be pushed more parallel to the road under the body torque/g-forces, so when if the rear goes down when accelerating or the car leans out pressing on the suspensions on one side in turns. That depends on the suspension geometry though, if the wheels don't pivot and just move parallel, then the results are essentially the opposite, and even worse if the linkage makes the wheel pivot in reverse to the rotation of the linkage.
Really nice video, taught me a lot
the car terms this man is using is making my brain melt! LOL
you should be tuning the rpm limit based on where peak power is in your power curve (use the UI app)
Now that’s an original idea. Cool video sir. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Thank you this video really did help alot. :D
Now please do one for Assetto!
It's literally the same
Ermin can you explain how to tune the cars for different classes like street tune track tune drift tune stuff like that
this video is amazing. my car is a different beast now
honestly after 4 months of watching this video and being in a beamng racing league teached me to just touch the sway bars difs brake bias and gearboxes nothing more unless its a more complicated problem whit the car then i would start going for dampers and alignment (and theres alot of missed stuff and miss information here in beam theres many different things and tricks you can use for more grip and traction) (and also they went whit positive camber on rears so when you accelerate the tires will go fully flat onto the ground cuz of the suspension compressing
which during that the camber changes)
man I love u
Damn, he didn't even say no homo lol
This guys really understands all this. Wow
So in the new beam ng super car with the race preset im having a problem with snap oversteer ive tried lowering the power lock and coast lock and lowering the gears but it doesnt seem to help
Great guide! I don't have BeamNG but these parameters seem great! Although I wish the alignment was in degrees instead of percentage, like percentage of what? How much angle is 100% for example?
Great explanation!
This video would also help if I would also find another video about every single type of BeamNG drive part mod where you can like change out your parts and stuff like I know how to make a car good and all I just don't know how to tune it but you know it's always good to consult the internet for information as long as it's a reliable source
As an American, my favorite part of Beam is throwing horsepower at cars. The anti lag mod is the best because it lets you set boost to 99 psi (6.8 BAR) So you can push literally any engine to its breaking point. I wish beam had more realistic failures such as valve float grenading pistons on interference engines and more realistic head gasket/head bolt failures. But that’s just me. Beam is tied with AC for my favorite sim.
I assume you either have the SUPERNOS mod and use their rads or the super radiators mod, otherwise the fun doesn't last. Also, the more superchargers mod is even more insane because it installs the supercharger from the additional modifications, then you can also have a stage 4 turbo/supercharger on the engine tab and tune both at the max. It's not rare to produce over 10000 HP
@@Ferrari255GTO that’s the challenge and what makes running crazy boost so fun. It’s balancing power vs heat. Also, the ALS mod lets you set a scramble pressure, so you can run higher levels of boost for a short period.
@@jacobrzeszewski6527 then you're stuck with stage 4 performance while using a super heavyduty block
@Javier Perez the twin charge mod lets you get to six figures. I made a t-series have 625,000 hp
@@tacticalidiot175 yeah i know about it, but 15000 HP are enough of a problem already, afterwards i center myself on actual tuning to try and make thoose things more drivable since just going with massive slicks doesn't fix anything.
Very good video!!
Thank you UA-cam for showing me this video nearly two weeks after it's been posted
You better be playing with the new update car!!!
i like the demon but its hard to control and thats mostly it is there a way i can do this
Great vid! Very helpful, also Open book? How about a forza motorsport 7 nurb time attack run? In a max B class car, no pc for me sadly but would like to hear ur feedback for that game lol n see how u can do of course :)
great video!
Are you able to change the ride height
I want another video like this for an AWD
Where did you find imola? I didn't see it in the repository. Can you share the site or links for the track and car please. Would be great thanks
Great video. Thank you. Do you have the link to the mod? Thanks!!
This is what I wanted to hear! And your evil friend CarMighty must be writing that down intensely! Can I apply this guide for sims like Raceroom, iRacing, and RF2? The wheel alignments, I want to know how much degree it is. Would it be 4.0% to 4.0 deg?
Most things do apply, no 4% isn't 4 degrees, it's 4% of the possible adjustable range on the car, if you wanna see the specific data about camber, caster and all theese things on BeamNG you need to open the suspension debug menu.
Explore the ui apps, you will be surprised how in depth and precise things will become. Wheel alignment to 0.000 degree, airspeed, brake thermals, engine hp/torque graph, clutch/engine temperatures, dash warning lights.
Repositry apps: improved navigation(needs to be default map), cobalt radar.
Could you make a tune for drifting?
Hey Ermz i need help tuning a torque converter for my automatic drag car.
if you want to do hot lapping, but not have the times show up on your leader board, do 2 lap hotlapping, and reset after you've finished a lap :)
I only started driving IRL last year and I got this game today and I can't stop spinning out. Do you need a racing chair or something? This is hard lmao
the default tunes suck and controller is hard for this game
finally
edit: also I found none of this dry in any way. love learning about cars and tuning
will it be fun on controller too
this guy is better at teaching than my school teacher
Now you have to attempt to make the bolide driveable!
You shoudl team up with a BeamNG modder and release a modpack with a race tune for each of the default cars.
I really hope beamng becomes big in sim racing
that corner exit almost spin was maybe due to tire temp not being implemented. Arent the tires always cold? Aero is fine in beamng afaik.
There is tire temp

Im looking for a general road tune for a car rp server i play on
However if you are racing other people on track you don't want to top out your rpms. Say for example you are chasing someone and get into his slipstream, if you topped out before now you have an artificial limit to your top speed and can't use the slipstream for overtaking. In some racing cars there's like a WHOLE GEAR that the car doesn't reach unless you are behind someone!
So to clarify, maximizing use of the RPMs is for time attack, solo qualy, rally, etc. For racing you need extra RPMs.
Question: what is rpm limit cut time???
And how can I see the instruments when I'm in pov camera?
You know your stuff
Welp. They just changed tuning in beamng now that you made this video
Im still lost on the parts settings. I have no idea how to do a decent build. Either not good enough or too much power so its uncontrolable
Out of curiosity, what exactly is rpm limit cut time? I couldn't seem to find an explanation for what it is anywhere.
it's basically how long it cuts the throttle for, when you are pressing the throttle and hitting the rev-limiter
I'd honestly love for you to try the 200bx I tuned.
Ps. For some reason hp and torque go down with turbo engines when you up the rpm limit.
I find the 200bx loves to try and get the rear out on even very slight throttle application on corner exit, how do you fix this tendency?
You don' t think your changing too much setup settings before testing?
How to turn your beamng cat into a weapon: give it to an epileptic person and turn on sun gravity
*me, who plays the game on a keyboard*: ''hmm okay''
Pls help me I don’t have that many tune settings in beamng
Where can I see my new car specs, like horsepower and weight. It doesn't show any in the vehicle list. For example. I took a 150HP car and put in a bigger engine or stage 2 turbocharger, where can I see the new power output?
13:40
in the automotive landscape, this is actually the norm. you go toe out on the driven axle to straighten the tires under power. and to stabilize the car at high speed, you give the undriven axle toe in.
at least that's the case in the OEM/day to day consumer world of cars
(professional car mechanic speaking)
maybe it's because I don't have any clue about racing setups, but you're doing the opposite of what I consider normal xD
toe or camber?
@@themanguy2110 toe
What if any references are you trying to make? XD
“What are you tuning it for?”
I am tuning this semi to go at Mach 10 and become a tool of mass destruction
