Really like your videos man! I am gassing for one of these, but I wasn't sure if it was "less than" a 100W SLO.....sure doesn't sound like it at all! :)
@@deadinside0586 the Hot Rods aren’t as picky about speakers. It’s the SLO that’s super picky. I have a 92, don’t have a new one. They do sound slightly different to me. But the SLO has a kind of grating, searing mid frequency, which is exactly what the V30 has (specifically the Chinese V30, the Mesa and Marshall versions sound different from each other). Pairing a SLO and a Chinese V30 is too much of that specific mid frequency. I’ve tried several speakers, and I like G12-65 with my SLO the best of all of them. That speaker isn’t as pronounced in the mids (it’s not scooped though) and has a nice “woody” flavor like a Greenback. But again, the Hot Rod series isn’t picky about speakers like the SLO. Great video and tone. Thinking about getting this for my live setup (80's metal/hard rock), is it loud enough for band practice and live/club setup with a 2x12 cab? What FX are you running with it?
@@GeauxSaints121 the good news is just below 2 it still sounds really really good, unlike a 100w amp where you need it louder to get 'that' tone. I have messed with dropping the Db's in my processor on the delay and Reverb but it takes some of the Slo tone away and that does not work for me.

Yes but the 100w has a punch the 30 is slightly lacking. Not so much lacking lows. Depth knob provides plenty but keep in mind it's a machine meant to CUT not chug. And I live on 2 acres and can crank it as loud as a I want. Having said that I love the 100w and may get another some day
@@johnny96888 And yet it seems most guitarists don't think twice about paying over $2,000 for an electric guitar. Which is ridiculous, since in regard to *electric* guitar tone, the AMPLIFIER is the actual instrument generating the tone, NOT the guitar. The amplifier (including the speaker(s) and cab) accounts for at least 80% of the tone produced by an electric guitar, with about 10-15% of the rest coming from the pickups. The body wood, the neck and fretboard wood, the scale length, the bridge type, the construction type (bolt on neck vs set neck, solid body versus semi-hollow or hollow) *etc*, accounts for 5-10% at most. A cheap electric guitar with a good set of pickups played through a good tube amp will ALWAYS sound better than an expensive electric guitar played through a mediocre amp. You can even find videos on YT of electric guitars made entirely of *concrete* and *glass* and they sound great through a good tube amp. *So why do so many guitarists complain about amplifiers being expensive?!* Especially amps like the Soldano that are handcrafted in the USA and should be considered "lifetime" amps (amps that will last your lifetime based on their build quality and their tone satisfying you for a lifetime). The Soldano even has a lifetime warranty that is transferable. I recommend you learn how to be patient and how to save up your money for things that you want that are actually worth it, instead of buying cheap shit for instant gratification that you'll just end up selling or throwing away later. I think you'll be a lot happier in the long run.
@@GoogleEqualsEvil I agree with you 100 percent, I was just trying to make a joke. Because lets be real that's a lot of money. However, in my opinion there are amps that sound close to this that are about half the price.
@@johnny96888 Hey Ryan, thanks for not taking my comment personally. I definitely meant it in a "generally speaking" sort of way towards everyone, not specifically towards you. So props for that. Just curious, what amps are you thinking of that sound like the Soldano for half the price? And do they FEEL the same also? That is something that a lot of guitarists don't talk about, probably because a lot of them have never played a good tube amp that has great dynamics and feel which comes from power supply sag that digital / solid state amps don't have. So it's definitely about tone, but it's also about the dynamics and feel of the amp. And then there is the quality issue as well. It's not just the build quality that is superior on amps like the Soldano, it's the quality of the components as well. You can't offer a lifetime warranty on a product that has quality issues. It's not always the case, but more often than not, you get what you pay for. It's impossible to manufacture the same amp for half the price and have equal build and component quality. Even if you build it in a shithole country where labor is forced, child, or cheap (like Communist China).
That's the great thing about 30-50 watt amps. They break up like no other amp and have that aggressive mid range. Killer playing by the way!
