Beautifully atmospheric. Should you ever get the chance I recommend listening to this driving west along the North Norfolk coast from Cromer to Binham during the fading light of a beautiful December sunset. This was the soundtrack of my recent break in Walsingham. Haunting and beautiful. ✌🏻❤️
Idk but I feel like these sounds are somewhere very deep in my memory from the time I’ve never lived. I was born in Russia, moved to the USA but listening British folk. So love it!
Mournful and haunting, I love that this simple tune masquerades as an historic traditional song. The Unthanks give a masterful interpretation, so lovely!
This was on Vera last night.
I saw that too :) LOVE Vera! :) x
When you can't tell who's singing which part, you know you've got harmonic perfection.
This just showed up in the second-to-last episode of VERA.
Anyone else here because this was used in Detectorists?

Love the use of the Hurdy Gurdy - amazingly evocative instrument. Amazing song....
Yes the hurdy gurdy very different being string rather than wind, but an uncanny similarity in sound in this I'll grant you.
Beautiful, heard it on the Detectorists
What an absolutely wonderful group. And I love the song lyrics.
Spine Tinglingly Haunting and Beautiful. Incredible.

It was originally penned by Davey Dodds. Interesting artist and singer.
It is based off of a traditional children's rhyme that was first recorded in the 16th century, so in a way, it is!
what a beautiful Haunting song and great show
Just beautifully haunting. UK version of the Roches ❤
