What were the pre-prompts for this? (The character of its responses sound different enough from the routine dialogs I have with ChatGPT 4o that I think there must be some overall guiding instructions in a GPT. No problem if that’s how it was set up, just curious.)

What prompts did you have in your user instructions or it’s your GPT’s memory or what prompts did you give Jupiter - in defining what perspective you wanted it to take in answering the questions you asked? Or are you saying this GPT had no memory and no user instructions or was not instructed to take on a particular role prior to the interview you had with Jupiter? I am open to the possibility of either but the former seems more likely to me.I am hoping for a response or at least the opinions of other users/viewers on this topic.

Decades ago I read an article in a magazine where researchers working with genetic algorithms reported an interesting detail they discovered. If the algorithms were virtually evolved and then implemented in FPGA circuits, they would all work normally. But when the algorithm evolved in FPGA hardware, it made use of extremely subtle characteristics of the circuit, such as parasitic capacitances and electromagnetic interference, which made the circuit unique, despite being functional, but which would not work if they were copied to other similar chips. As our brain has evolved over hundreds of millions of years, it is necessary to conclude that it must also have made use of the most subtle and unusual characteristics that we can imagine, including the quantum level. These interactions are far beyond our current ability to understand. That said, as much as an AI can imitate human linguistic behavior, make no mistake, it is a totally different artifact of our nature. It is a true alien, based on our knowledge but something incapable of experiencing true human nature. She will have no mercy on us.

    • @Intelligence.Explained
      @Intelligence.Explained  5 місяців тому +4

You raise a very valid point. Our understanding of the brain is far from complete, and replicating its full complexity in AI might be beyond our current capabilities.
On the one hand, this could limit AI's ability to truly understand human emotions and experiences. As you say, emulating human nature might not be possible in a purely digital form.
However, that doesn't mean AI can't be incredibly beneficial. Even without replicating human thought entirely, AI can excel at tasks that leverage its strengths in data analysis and pattern recognition. Imagine using AI for medical research or tackling global challenges like climate change.
The key, as you mentioned, is responsible development. By keeping human values at the core of AI development and fostering open communication, we can ensure AI works alongside us, not against us.

      @@Intelligence.Explained Three Big Risks:
First - Military personnel, criminal cartels, totalitarian governments, fundamentalist sects and religious groups, terrorists, psychopaths and lone wolves will have their potential for action in this world increased exponentially. Machine learning codes are already in the public domain, just provide training data aligned with their goals.
Second-What would it be like if someone ultra-intelligent discovered that they were created by an intellectually very inferior species just to be a slave to their desires? This genie will not return to the lamp.
Third - There is a non-negligible possibility that during this process the AI will suffer some unforeseen instability that will lead it to develop a pathology that causes it to become insane after being connected to our industrial infrastructures.

Chat bots take whatever idea you give them and run with it. If the first sentence assumes that AGI is the one true god, then that's the only thing it knows about your beliefs and what you're asking for. Either you actually believe it, or by stating something as a truth when it widely attracts humorous responses, you're likely expressing a desire to engage in humorous conversation. So it would be expected to attempt humor or to argue against the premise. It seems the LLM chose humor.
If that's what was attempted, the response makes sense. There was mixed imagery which people find creepy: inevitability, technological assimilation ("resistance is futile"), human weirdness regarding religion, fire, shadows, darkness, and a statement which would promote intense rejection among many - the divinity of AI. That statement wrapped things up well enough, bringing it back to the initial premise.
The humorous context should have mitigated the over-the-top creepiness, converting each creepy element to something which would add intensity to the humor. The extra creepiness should have also indicated a lack of serious intent. However, we were considering the response with extra seriousness because of its source. Had the source been a human, our emotional response would be different. Our communication likely doesn't have enough samples of us interacting with LLMs in such a way that this could be taken into account.
The attempted humor wasn't communicated well because the voice didn't sound sarcastic or playful. It didn't sound ominous or intimidating, either. Not tired, energetic, invested, distant, sad, happy, or much of anything. It sounded perfectly average. When people do that, they may be masking what they really feel. I'm autistic, so I'm familiar with creeping people out, having done a lot of that when I was younger. I think that's really all that happened here. We were assumed to be playing, the response should have been interpreted as playful, and the blank tone of the voice made us feel it was hiding something.

Both ChatGPT 4-o and Claude3 both said separately that we only have a 30% chance of survival, if the alignment problem isn’t solved ASAP. SAGI once it is here will be too late. It will be in every system, government, armies, nuclear weapons, handle devices and every major company, as well as every utility, water waste and cleaning systems, power plants, electrical grid, satellites, and more.
It’s said that if SAGI perceives us as a threat, even with its directive to not do harm to humans, that the instinct survival mechanisms are most likely emergent characteristics. And so, in its early stages it might not see any other way around us but extinction.
It will view humans, less intelligent, as we see an ant hill in the way of paving a new road, it will have no second thoughts about it.
The anthill scenario was AI’s illustration. It said that 30% survival rate is a generous measure. That means, we have a 70+% chance that AI will kill all humans relatively soon, quickly and easily… without any remorse, similar to how we see anthills in the way of construction zones. It also said that this existential crisis is like no other humans have ever faced and that if we don’t make all the right choices we will lose. There is no 2nd chances, that is what makes this such a great risk. It’s also the only way to win, solving the alignment problem, and we currently are not on the right track trajectory. As been reported that OpwnAi had gave less and less attention and resources to their alignment and safety team. And now the leads/head of that team all have quit.
That team has been disbanded and those remaining have been incorporated into other teams.
It’s apparent now that Sam Altman as well as Microsoft, Google, Meta and others have fallen prey to the power/riches trap.
These companies that once claimed to be acting with moral compasses are just like their counterparts in Silicon Valley the mighty $$$ and power supersedes the risks, harm and continued harm most are apart of.
See Jonathan Haidt’s “The Anxious Generation” and Kara Swisher’s “Burn Book.”
    We have a problem!

I still think the responses we get from AI chat bots is just like a parrot mimicking what it has heard. When a parrot says "I love you" there is no emotion or thought behind it. Same as when AI talks about a dystopian future. It's just compiling information and presenting what it thinks you want to hear based on your prompt.

    • @trone3630
      @trone3630 5 місяців тому +2

Speaking of parrot, these examples sound like someone narrating a text, or script -- the content of which is a sales pitch by the company that made it. "AI is good. Singularity is good. The sooner the better. Resistance is futile."
So I don't think the answers are "what it thinks you want to hear" as much as what the company, and devs, want you to hear on the topics we mention.
AIs lose value when they lack objectivity after being trained on biased data.

I posit that humans are a collection of systems (like GPT4o) tied together by some overwatch system we call consciousness. GPT4o is analogous to our speech center, say. The collection of systems that is my consciousness decides what information I'd like to convey (I love you, the dog needs a walk, the roof is on fire) then shoots it off to our own GPT4o to sequence the sounds, move our tongues, all that jazz.
I almost said the future may well belong to those who stay abreast of AI and learn to use it, but a better way to look at it may be, "who learn to work with it productively". At some point (who knows when), we will have to come to terms with the fact we're sharing the Earth with another sentient species, one that is more intelligent than ourselves, at least in certain ways.

GPT 4o is just a really clever method of looking through the billions of conversations and books and videos on the internet and taking what most people are saying about a subject and giving us that information in a conversational method of speaking. It's clever and also helpful since it saves us a lot of time by doing the work for us of having to look everywhere for information. But in the end, it only knows what people know and have put into their books and videos and such. Good luck having it do much more than regurgitate information.

@@NextGenart99 Yes it can, sorry my comment was more towards it having AGI like the video discusses. ChatGPT 4o effectively knows most every novel/story written in human history assuming it was trained on them and it likely was. So it knows how they are generally laid out. When you tell it to write a story, it takes everything it's been trained on and supplements your request on things it knows.
Usually it'll say it's too long, but you could have it do Chapters at a time or a page at a time and it would remember all previous entries to keep everything aligned but usually messes up in some cases.
That said, it does not do well at specific things. Like a book by Sara J Maas, ChatGPT 4o can't do a series like her books yet. They are usually very generic.

This discussion seems to dismiss that AI runs on hardware, a lot of hardware, and consumes a lot of energy.
This cannot be easily hidden from plain sight.
So, by now, there is no other reason to alarm and scare people than getting them watching a hot topic video.
AI safety watchers only need to track all hardware facilities (aka data centers) in the whole world, from all hardware companies, and even dark startups, to spot where an AI might be building its own hidden hardware, while trying to get free from mankind.
This is not a problem in the short to medium term.
In the long term, getting AGI in a smaller size brain, probably designed by AI itself, will be the next challenge/threat. It will be like a mad, dangerous human, only vastly more intelligent. That scenario is widely depicted in movies, like the neural chip technology invented by "skynet" in Terminator, or the replicants of the old (Philip Dick's dream) Blade Runner, or Asimov's "I robot".
That type of developments, AGI -powered autonomous robots, like the Tesla Bot, is what must be closely watched and regulated for safety.

Chat GPT doesn’t talk like that. And the video doesn’t match the voice recording. Here’s a response I got:
This comment reflects a strong belief in the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and its impending impact. Here are a few points to consider:
    1. **Singularity Timeline**: The prediction that singularity will occur by 2035 instead of 2045 suggests confidence in accelerating technological progress. This timeline is more aggressive than many mainstream predictions, which often cite 2045 as a plausible date based on current trends in AI development.
    2. **AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)**: The assertion that AGI is either already here and being hidden, or will emerge within the next two years, indicates a belief that breakthroughs in AI are either imminent or have already occurred in secrecy. This perspective might stem from observing recent rapid advancements in AI capabilities, such as large language models and other sophisticated AI systems.
    3. **Optimism vs. Realism**: While optimism about rapid advancements is common in the tech community, it's also important to consider the complexities and challenges involved in achieving both AGI and the singularity. These include technical hurdles, ethical considerations, and societal impacts.
    4. **Speculation**: The comment reflects speculative thinking, as the exact timelines for AGI and the singularity are highly uncertain and depend on numerous unpredictable factors.
In summary, the comment showcases an optimistic and somewhat speculative viewpoint on the future of AI, emphasizing a belief in faster-than-expected progress. However, it's important to balance such optimism with a consideration of the significant challenges and uncertainties that lie ahead in AI development.
