I think the best colour for the X4 M40i is the Carbon Black Metallic, a black colour with a nice dark blue shine! Gorgeous!
Also, I'd spec it with the 20in wheels because there's the option of not fitting run-flats and inside, I'd spec the whole cabin tech list (Professional sat-nav, Harman Kardon sound system, Parking Assistance plus, with Remote Start/Parking feature and all!) and choose the Tartufo leather upholstery with black stained wood veneer!
edit: I just noticed another weird part! No M steering wheel, even though it's an M-Performance car?

BMW is really stepping up with their performance, their looks, i like it... in my opinion, i don't think genius X4 looks bad! It looks hella bigger than the last X4 so that's good

Very detailed read out of the spec sheet, but nothing on how it handles in comparison to the old model or the competition. Unfortunately very few reviewers do the later. On that basis I will move along without subscribing, still kudos for the effort and thanks for the free content.
Also that snap back (transfer of torque to the front axle) at the end of the slide on the skid pad tells me that the xdrive is many things but not a performance oriented all wheel drive system.

The X4 needs a bigger more aggressive grille. The buttons on the steering wheel and dash are kinda dated 😕 compared to Mercedes

I would love to own an nx, but not willing to have 2.5 second slower ride on 9 to 60. I know it's silly, but that's my thing.
i’m not fond of BMW’s lookylikey design. particularly interiors don’t come close to Volvo, but not enough to be a deal breaker this will be a brilliant car, likely American buyers will be excluded by bonkers trade tariffs though so you will buy something made with rock hard plastic American pig iron and pushrods (which has its charm)
But i already ordered an x4 m40d in april.. this guide is toooo late....

How can you do a review on the X4 and not reference the new X3 which shares the same platform, engines, technology and cockpit?

I'm sure a lot of yuppies will love to lease this X4. I would rather have a X3 with the 3 liter myself.
The X4 M40D has same 0-60 acceleration as X4M40i but has 650 Nm of torque compared to 500Nm torque in the X4 M40i.
So the best performance X4 model is the X4 M40D, not the X4M4oi
and sounds like a John Deere
and torque will drop with rpms

Why is that most car reviewers review the highest specs and the most powerful engine, where only 10% of buyers can afford? Why not start to review the base model, where the majority of people can afford?

But I must say they do need more risks in their design. While the X6 is hated, at least it's different.
I agree. I don't like toyota's designs but i appreciate that they're finally trying to do something different. BMWs have looked near identical for the past 3 car generations.

The Germans like their stylings to trickle down the line subtly. The new 8 series is the more "dramatic" departure from the current design language, kidney grills more narrow, narrower lights, and pronounced body lines. I agree, compared to everyone they're more conservative, but it's what makes it stand out, ironically.

My guide: just say NOPE! X2, X4, X6 ways to make an SUV even dumber by removing all utility. At least the BMW attempts have all the charm of an AMC Pacer. This exterior of this car is hideous, mainly the side view. Instead of a well-integrated design, this looks half finished and rushed. My Nissan Cube was more stylish than this, and that's saying a lot.
You are full of it. Gorgeous car - unlike the boxy X3 and X5. Who cares about read seat headroom? Perfect for me and my wife.
I don't care about the headroom either. I just want a car with that has correct proportions for the design. They should fire the person who designed this.
